All right. I went to the Rotting Christ gig in Manhattan last night and returned at about 1 AM.

Averse Sefira was the first band to play and by far the worst band of the night. They were a mess, and they perfectly exemplify why so many people dislike US black metal. This was my second time seeing them, so I knew what I was in for. Their bass was so loud that it drowned almost everything else out. They just sounded so dissonant that I couldn't wait for their set to end. It really seemed to me that they were more interested in making noise than playing music.

On the other hand, Belphegor delivered and were great just as I expected. However, their set was disappointingly short and they left me wanting a lot more. Sigurd couldn't play on this tour because he had to undergo an eye operation (according to Belphegor's session drummer, Torturer), so there was a replacement guitarist for him, whose name escapes me.

Next, there was Immolation, who opened up with Passion Kill, the same song as they opened with the last time I saw them. Afterwards, they proceeded to play a good mix of songs, including Fall From a High Place (which I did not see coming) and The Condemned from their new EP. Bring Them Down was their last song.

As for Rotting Christ, if you haven't seen them live yet, you must. Every single song they played was awesome, and they played every song I expected except Sorrowfull Farewell, and ended with Under The Name of Legion. Sakis commented at one point that Dani Filth was in the crowd and then pointed straight at him. That was wholly unexpected and I heard a slew of people saying, "Fuck Dani Filth, let's kill that fucker," etc., right afterwards.

ok people mild break through i can actually stand to listen to Mr Mustaine's voice, or atleast on peace sells and other songs from said album which is pretty awesome and really bizarre as not so long ago the sound of his crooning made my face twist up in disgust.

Also in a bit of a thrashy mood and im getting hold of Sacred Reich - Ignorance and also Bill, did Death Squad take their name from the first track of that album or is it just a coincidence?

Also i recommend Bludwulf to anyone who likes a bit of Thrash with punk influences :)

Oye now back to what I was saying tv shows Like Head bangers ball fucking sucks because there too pussy to play any real metal with fear of being banned.

They used to play good metal back in the late 80's and early 90's (http://youtube.com/watch?v=g74UP8mwFMs)
. But that was a long time ago. I'm talking when they used to play stuff like Sarcofago, Obituary, Exodus, Entombed, Nuclear Assault, etc. New Head bangers Ball is just crap.

Interesting opinions for either side of the argument of Machine Head or Devil Driver. As for the other vote going on, my money is on Gorjira.

Currently listening to: Random nameless tracks I downloaded off of my Metal Hammer magazine CDs too long ago to remember what they're called. Good shit though.

So, what do my metal hell brethren think of Temnozor?
The whole NS thing aside, I love their music. It's so great, especially if you can speak Russian (they usually sing about the beauty of Russia and stuff.)
Any similar bands I could get into? (Nokturnal Mortum is a given.)

Well what I think about this post, is that you're right, But there's not much we can do about it.
True Metal will never become mainstream.

I think that the Majority of the Mainstream populace, That isn't instantly scared off by heaviness, Because they are used to Shit like Rap and Rnb, Used to Singing instead of Screaming, Growling, Gurgling, Shrieking and Squealing.

The people that actually might be able to become metalheads, Are scared off by the scene itself...

Metal Culture is made look barbaric all over the media, While we might be used to the idea of mosh pits, Imagine how terrified Someone that usually Does salsa dancing might be of a pit of People Fighting?

And do you think, That very Strict Christians will find titles like "Christians to the lions" and "Fistfucking God's Planet" very appealing to listen to?

Or that many people find the title "Kill your mother- Rape your dog" Appealing?
How about offensive?

Then of course there's the lyrics of metal often being too Complex to some that is not used to it to Comprehend.

Then there's The bands/Metalheads in themselves,We've got Junkies, Alcoholics, Guys that bite heads off bats, Murderers, Church Burners, Corpse painted, Wearing leather with studs, Spikes, long hair, Evil looking Jewelry, And an overall Mean attitude, To the Eyes of the Public, WE are fucking freaks.

"Normal" People Don't listen to metal, Never have and never will.

Normal people listen to Mallcore, Stuff that is "Safe" And they spread it to other normal people, I mean like, Korn's most "brutal" song, Is called Twist.

While normal stuff for us has names like Skin Coffin and Fecal Stuffed fuck stumps.

Metal is too METAL to be popular.

Also, @ Imperium, I think Gojira is too Original to be ignored, The fact that Gojira, As a death metal group, Is able to created stuff like Flying whales and Unicorn, Is just amazing, I think they'll start a revoloution in the metal scene.

True. Most people think that screaming is not singing. When in actuality, it is. The screaming style of vocalism has been around for a lot longer than most people think. For example, a somewhat scream style of vocal was starting to be discovered after WW2 ,throuout the 50's and 60's. But, it wasn't to the exact match of the kind of screaming we have today.

well, today was my first radio show of the semester.
Played stuff like Ensiferum, Wintersun, Carcass, Bloodbath, Behemoth, Turisas, Savage Circus, etc etc

And of course, we got complaints, especially for being too loud. Thankfully my radio partner is a jerk, so he turned it up per complaint, since our goal in life is to piss off as many preps and guidos we can in the college.

Personally, Flying whales is one of my Favourite Gojira Songs, When It kicks in;It's Just perfect.

But then again, From mars to Sirius just kicks ass in it's entirety, I also have The Link.

Point is, Gojira fucking pwnz.

I just don't think Flying Whales is a good example of that. System of a Down could come up with that (in its essence - obviously Gojira do it better). To Sirius would be a better example (I believe thats the one with the weirdish acoustic intro - or maybe From Mars?).

Global Warming is teh best though :).
