I'm back from Gibsonia, Pennsylvainia (yeah, I never mentioned I was going). I got back today at about 4:00 or 4:30. I left last Tuesday at approximately 10:AM and arrived at around (these "A" words doing anything for ya?) 7:30 PM.
I went there because my grandfather on my mother's side was very sick. He died sometime Wednesday morning while I was still asleep. I'm okay, though. Sadly, I did not know him too well. He was a great man, though. It made me sad, but I really didn't take it all that hard. I wish I had known my grandfather better. I didn't get to see my grandparents on my mother's side too often.
Since the rides to and from PA were so long, I put in a couple CDs and my mom now likes Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment. cool beans.

I didn't pay much attention, but I noticed that Sean Malone was in the video. He kicks ass. Gordian Knot FTW(Tony Levin makes Gordian Knot even awesomerererer).

Black Metal sucks.
I disagree with those statements. I'm not really into the Beatles but I still see them as a very good band. And I don't listen to a lot of black metal, but I do love some bands that happen to be partially black metal.
I don't know about iPods, though, since I've never used one before.
A band I've recently found to be very entertaining is... Axenstar.
Yes, Axenstar is good.
Saying that I've onyl really been listening to Dream Theater, Electric Wizard, Angra, Axenstar, Devin Townsend and Gojira.
That's a good list there.

That's good. 80's FTW...well, really late 60s to present day FTW
Also, I happen to love some classical music. Bach, Vivaldi, Paganini, Mussorgsky, Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and others have done some music that I think is great. I don't know much about classical music, though.

1.) I disliked most Power Metal yet
I'm finding a couple of power metal bands to be boring now. Sonata Arctica, Steel Attack, and something else, I think. I used to think they were pretty good.
But Symphony X (prog/power) Angra (prog/power) and Helloween are all fucking great. Rebellion, Dark Moor, Zandelle, and Axenstar are also good. I can't recall if Stratovarius is excellent or just good. It's been a long time since I listened to them. Fates Warning is a great band and the early stuff is power.

dude....Dream Theater, Queensryche, Age of Nemesis, Vanden Plas, Angra ,King Diamond...
What the hell, man?!
At 10/17/07 08:44 PM, smc316 wrote: What kinds of music - outside of metal - do you guys listen to?
prog rock mostly (I looooove prog rock), but also a bit of jazz and classical music. and some classic non-prog rock like Cream and Led Zeppelin. some folk music and some electronic stuff (Ulver, Professor Fate)

Except for Country. Those guys are more repetitive than Power Metal will ever be.
And that's really saying something.

Sucked ass. Gay ass whispered vocals + pantera groove + meshuggah offbeat-timing = not my thing.
I love Symphony X, but I don't like that song and I haven't heard anything else from Paradise Lost.
LaBrie's vocals will always suck.
you lie. He's amazing.

I WOULD HAVE FUCKING BEEN THERE! A friend of mine called and offered to take me there, but I was in Pennsylvania. Of course, my grandfather is more important than a live show.

and back to metal. Up-ed my progressive metal collection with DGM, Ark, Anubis Gate, and Astral Doors. all very good.
DGM?....All that's coming to mind is Discipline Global Mobile, but that's not a band nor is it metal.

I keep my hair long despite my mom constantly saying it's pretty and a bunch of people telling me to get it cut. I'd say the former is tougher to hear than the latter.
I'm pretty. : O

Goat, Agatus is great. I'm glad you posted their Myspace. I don't think they sound like Týr, though, and Týr is still one of my favorite bands.
