I was always under the impression you had to survive for a loooooong time before you got that one, and no one has survived long enough. Longer than for the 500 medal, even. I'm really not sure for how long. Also I assume sliding counts as slowing you down.

Just because no one has a medal doesn't necessarily mean it's broken (although it can be an indicator of likeliness).

There are old games which had 0 point medals for the longest time, and which I or another high-ranking medal earner was the first to unlock and then boom. (It didn't help that for the longest time any 0 point medals weren't visible to players, thus you couldn't even know if there were additional medals to even try for).

An old one but still has MY RANK! as a broken medal. All other medals work.

Yes the game freezes if you ever fall in the pit, but if you can avoid doing that for a while you can get everything else.

The game originally had leaderboards and high score table and MY RANK! was awarded for getting on there. The game no longer has any leaderboards or recording of high scores, so has been a broken medal for a very long time now.

Like other games with HTTP problems, this game freezes whenever a medal is supposed to unlock.

So the problem is the game author thought they would do a "clever" trick of lock you out of "bonus" content without a code supposedly obtainable from their website. Several problems with this.

Two medals, Demon Rise and Undead Knights are not obtainable without that code. You are locked out of playing those two stages.

The site itself no longer gives out the code and someone asked on the external site the game links to back in January 2019 and the game author said they would upload a version without the lockout, but it's December 2019 and the lockout version is the only one on Newgrounds. Perhaps they meant they would upload it to their own site (but not Newgrounds).

From reading the comments on Newgrounds, it seems that during the time when this process was working, one had to click the bonus content link in-game and follow the link to the external website, and from there one had to do some sort of survey in order to get such a code.

So the short of it is, unless anyone has and wishes to divulge what that unlock code is (and actually works), then both Demon Rise and Undead Knights medals should be considered to be broken and should be removed.

Google searches for it yield nothing useful other than the fact others have been searching for this exact same thing.

The in-game error is "It looks like Susie and Giles are asleep at Dictionary Corner."

Game is still playable, and some (but not all) medals still earnable, but this will severely restrict the total number of points that may be obtained, making some medals no longer earnable.

Assumption is it needs to connect to an external website (which likely uses HTTP) for some kind of validation and because it can't, you get that error.

Thanks. It seems to not have fixed the problem though. Trying just now and Susie and Giles are still "asleep". I do know the game is looking up words on dictionary.com so it's possible whatever functionality it was using for scorekeeping was dependent on some exact way dictionary.com was set up in the past, but which no longer holds to be the case in present.

This makes CHALLENGE, WONDERFUL, and OCTOCHAMP all now broken medals.

The other medals still work since it can still look up individual words.

See if it's a HTTP issue with this game.

When you collect the first watch, that should be the first medal a player obtains, and it also is supposed to extend in-game time. Instead what happens is as soon as player collects that watch it's instant death, and if they don't collect the watch they die from not enough time.

Confirming this fixed the problem. Game is now playable beyond that point and medals work again.

Game just up and freezes right from the get-go. You have a kind of map but you can't do anything with it or interact with it in any way. It's already on HTTP so that's not it.

All medals in this game are now broken medals as there is no way to start or even play the game.

It should probably be de-published from Newgrounds since it's not playable.

The last time anyone unlocked any of the medals was in 2017. And none of the medals seem to work, even when clicking on them in-game.

Plenty of people have gotten the level 25 medal though. (Including me)

The last one was 9 days ago though so we might be looking at something that happened more recently.

Most likely it suffers from the medals connection timeout issues (and/or Newgrounds happened to go down at or around the time someone tried to earn the medal).

It's extremely common and is why I strongly recommend (and it's what I do myself) just prior to unlocking a medal in some game where that takes a long time, save game reload game, resume play, *then* do whatever to pass the goal and unlock that medal. Even then sometimes it won't work and you may have to delete your cache and start all over again for another chance, but it tends to be the optimum strategy.

That's assuming it's not some other problem with the medal. Medals connection timeout is common though.

If it is just medals connection timeout issue, that doesn't count as broken medal, though unfortunately for you you'll likely need to clear your cache and start all over from the beginning for another chance.

No medals in this game have ever awarded for me and according to recent reviews it seems I'm not alone in that.

Broken medals game.

This one's been brought up before, but it's already in HTTP, so that's not the issue.

The problem is "Susie and Giles asleep at dictionary corner". I think the game may have relied on some exact way dictionary.com website used to be setup for this function to work. Because it no longer works and hasn't for quite some time, it is impossible to score most of the points in the game, and 2 medals become broken medals as a result. You cannot gain any of the bonus points as you are awarded a grand 0 points for each bonus word as long as Susie and Giles sleep.

W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L -- Finish the game with 100 points or more, is broken.

O-C-T-O-C-H-A-M-P -- Finish the game with 146 points or more, is broken.

The other 4 medals still function as they should.

Note, I have these two medals because I obtained them in the past before Susie and Giles went into permanent sleep mode. I do not believe they have been obtainable for quite some time.

All of the medals are unlockable because it won't load the flash format or the Newgrounds Player at all.

It still forces it to the non-flash version.

Also, in regards to Ruffle, it doesn't work, period. On a few things that force Ruffle (if you choose the flash version), it'll just be stuck on the title screen and you can't advance and clicks don't register. Would greatly prefer if Ruffle wasn't used at all and we were allowed to use our browser's flash players. Or at least if that were an option. Because as-is it just doesn't work.

I understand the concern for the flash support ending, but if people have set up their browsers to make flash work, then it should use the plugin in their browser, rather than Ruffle. And again I've gone over methods that can be used to make this work beyond the cutoff date for flash support ending.

Does me no good if my browser setup is perfectly good for flash, yet I can't play flash because Newgrounds stubbornly insists on forcing it through Ruffle, which doesn't work.

Fortunately it seems most stuff isn't forced through Ruffle, but yeah, just FYI, it doesn't work.

Ah I think it works on my end because I have "Use Newgrounds Player for Flash" checked off on my account settings - in your case it's still checking for the Flash plugin and the browser is telling it Flash isn't supported.
