I don't think Pryor should play QB at all, unless he wants to be the next JaMarcus Russell, just not as fat or have a big arm. Knowing Oakland, they are always going to take certain chances on fast players, even with a history of trouble.

And nine more days until college football kicks off.

Good, I'm getting bored of this preseason crap.

The Bills have been looking like crap this season.

The passing game really needs to get back into form like last season, and quickly because we can't afford to lose any close games like we did last season.

I might actually start following college football again, it's been like 10 years since I've actually followed it. The only problem is that I won't know much about any of the teams or players for a while, but at least I can still enjoy the games when they are good. For some reason this summer has had me anticipating the football season more than usual.

Surely you can't be surprised; how much different is their roster now compared to the last x-years of sub-par teams they have fielded? The emergence of Spiller could do wonders, but I'm not 100% sold on Steve Johnson as a consistent #1 wideout, especially with Evans gone, he's really not going to have any help. Not a Fitzpatrick fan either. So yeah, I'd say this team is probably going to lose a bunch of '17-10 type' games, because I don't think their D is all that bad.

I do feel kind of bad for the Bills though, this Toronto experiment they have to go through is retarded. We don't care about the Bills. Period. They're not going to convince Toronto, to embrace a terrible team, with no marquee players, from a different country, with a long storied history of losing, just because they are kinda close geographically. Just about the only cool thing about being a Canadian football fan is the ability to be impartial and not be tied to a local team. Plus they keep running these condescending ads up here like: "if you care about the NFL, go see the NFL." Like anyone outside of Buffalo and Washington wants to pay 150 bucks to see the Bills and Redskins play for 27th place.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, one of the main reasons why Buffalo has been so shitty for so long is because Ralph Wilson owns the team, and he's even more senile than Al Davis, if you can believe that. Having shitty GMs and coaches doesn't help either.

I really don't know why they gave away Evans to be honest, because you're now left with Steve Johnson, who has a history of drops in the clutch and disappearing altogether, and a bunch of nobodys out there, and that's not good. They are in a race to the bottom with Washington and possibly Tennessee to get Andrew Luck.

All the more reason why they are eventually going to Los Angeles, {either them or Jacksonville} and most likely start anew. If they do move however, it's definitely going to be as messy as when the Baltimore Colts left, or when the old Browns team left for ironically enough, Baltimore.

Just about the only cool thing about being a Canadian football fan is the ability to be impartial and not be tied to a local team. I'm sure that even if Toronto gets the Bills, I doubt all of Canada would root for them at all, especially in Manitoba, where I would guess that they're a lot of Packers/Vikings/Bears fans. But the fans of those teams are still going to go to the stadium anyways, because it didn't stop Lions fans from seeing their team go 0-16 a couple of years ago, or Bengals fans who deal with Mike Brown's incompetence for nearly 20 years.

But at the same time, many believe the only reason the team is still in Buffalo is because of Ralph Wilson. When he dies there will probably be serious talk of relocation.

Evans was their only real down the field threat, but you have to admit he wasn't getting it done the last 2 years, though I think he'll tear it up with Flacco in Baltimore.

I'm sure that even if Toronto gets the Bills, I doubt all of Canada would root for them at all, especially in Manitoba, where I would guess that they're a lot of Packers/Vikings/Bears fans.

I'm not so sure about that. The Blue Jays do a pretty good job marketing themselves as "Canada's team," plus I'm sure Toronto could support a franchise on the strength of the GTA alone without having to pull from a wider region.

It wont happen though.

You think the Bills are marginalized nationally? Imagine what it would be like if they played in another country, their games would be worthless to TV broadcasters outside of Canada and parts of upper New York State.

The CFL is another problem too, Canada has a bit of an unhealthy obsession with 'guarding Canadian institutions,' so we can maintain at least some sort of distinct identity apart from the US. So although no one east of Manitoba gives 2 fucks about the CFL, the teams out west actually do really well. But if Toronto were to get an NFL team, the CFL team folds, and if Toronto goes, the whole league is put in jeopardy.

Logistical problems exist too: the lack of an adequate facility, the fact that a small, but not insignificant number of NFL players might have problems getting into Canada, because of legal issues, etc.

Which is what makes the whole experiment thing all the more retarded, it's clearly a futile effort, why persist?

I would've have guessed that he would give away his franchise to one of his children, {if he has any, I don't know the man.} when he dies. Although, I'll bet their more than willing to relocate the franchise, as long as Jacksonville or San Diego doesn't pull the trigger first.

I really don't know why they gave away Evans to be honest

It's a damned if they do, damned if they don't kind of situation. If he stayed, he could possibly ruin his career with a bad team, but post up decent stats in the process. If he went {which he did} and starts to tear it up, then everyone would say "why did you give him away?" They should've traded him away years ago, but they stupidly didn't do that.

Well, when the Montreal Expos left, and MLB didn't bother to put teams outside of the eastern half of Canada, then I would understand that much. Plus, having 2 back to back WS titles does carry a lot of weight there.

It wont happen though.

You think the Bills are marginalized nationally? Imagine what it would be like if they played in another country, their games would be worthless to TV broadcasters outside of Canada and parts of upper New York State.

All the more reason why they're moving to Los Angeles, assuming that either the Jags or the Bolts don't pull the trigger first, so to speak. If that happens, then the Bills would have no choice but to stay there, and be like the Bengals of the 90's or the Lions/Browns of the early 2000's, where they were just horrendous.

Which is what makes the whole experiment thing all the more retarded, it's clearly a futile effort, why persist?

The NFL has offices in Japan, China, Mexico and even in Europe, so my guess is that they are following MLB and the NBA to expand their game, even though American Football is pretty exclusive to America, and a cult like sport most everywhere else. They're simply following the bandwagon of the other pro leagues in America.

I would be more intrigued if the NFL does eventually, oh let's say, put a pro team in Tokyo instead of anywhere in Canada, {for shits and giggles more than anything else.} even though I would imagine that it would be a logistical nightmare if that happens.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

As someone who watched each and every one of their games last year, yes I am.

Last season I thought I was watching a team that had found it's purpose on offense and was only a few moving parts away from a solid defense.

Then they got rid of Poz and Evans and things have taken yet another major downturn since then. I had hopes but I don't really know anymore how valid they are.

You know I'm disturbed by this image. I'm sure you guys have heard about that ESPN article that tries to detract critics who question race in the upbringing of Mike Vick. There is nothing wrong or racist about the article but this photoshop very distracting; was it really necessary for ESPN to add that? It seems like something that I would find on /sp/ to be honest.

And I thought what Michael Jackson and Sammy Sosa did to themselves were disturbing. At least Jacko has a bit of a benefit of doubt since he has a skin disease and wanted to even it out (still doesn't excuse the plastic surgeries though).

What's next? Deion Sanders in a KKK outfit?

Yeah, that is a rather disturbing image to see.

Anyways, I do expect Detroit to compete in the NFC North, but Stafford has to remain upright if they want to challenge the Packers. They have enough big play WRs to keep anyone's defense on their toes, and that D-line might give the Giants and Colts D-line a run for it's money in terms of stopping the run and getting to the QB.

Speaking of the Colts, Am I the only one that thinks that Peyton is going to start Week 1? They say it's very unlikely that he'll start because of his neck surgery, but judging by the other QB's are out there for the Colts, my guess is that Peyton Manning at 50% is still better than Collins or Painter at 100%, so it's most likely a diversionary tactic, because I obviously know that they don't care about the preseason at all. Probably wouldn't hurt to draft a future replacement QB next year, just to be safe.

I'm going to be fucking honest here. American Football, which you ameritrash illogically call "football," is pure fucking GARBAGE. Not only does american football require ZERO skill or athleticism, but it is so fucking BORING to watch. It's 60 fucking minutes of a commercial being played back and forth across the telly like a broken pinball machine, with a few isolated passes sprinkled in between.

Oh, and did I mention the fucking armour? American football is one of the LEAST physical sports out there... no physical contact allowed. Yet the players try to fake injuries to get calls every fucking minute of the game (the few seconds of actual game-play). The players don't even try to hide their flopping either. It's fucking blatant. If someone tackles into a player's ass, he'll fucking grab his head. Then he'll proceed to writhe around on the floor "in pain" right until the referee throws a flag and the commissioner dishes out a fine.

Then, MAGICALLY, the player is all better and stands up again to keep playing. I won't even get into the fact that American football is a fat man's sport.

Seriously. Fuck American football, and fuck anyone who likes it.

Miami University:

At Missouri: Loss (0-1)
At Minnesota : Loss (0-2)
Vs. Bowling Green: Win (1-2)
Vs. Cincinnati: Loss (1-3)
Vs. Army: Win (2-3)
At Kent State: Win (3-3)
At Toledo: Win (4-3)
Vs. Buffalo: Win (5-3)
Vs. Akron: Win (6-3)
At Temple: Win (7-3)
Vs. Western Michigan: Win (8-3)
At Ohio: Win (9-3)

So, basically, I'm expecting Miami their conference and either go 11-3 or 10-4 this year depending on how they do at the MAC championship and if they go to another Bowl Game, which will put them as the same or slightly better than their 2010 team. I think it's possible, but I could be dead wrong about all of this. I guess we'll just have to watch to find out...

At 9/1/11 02:16 AM, Travis wrote: I think Ohio State is actually where they want to be.

Face it, Ohio State isn't going to be competing for a national title, much less a BCS bowl game this year. Joe Bausermann isn't that great of a QB, and Braxton is only a freshman, not to mention the fact that your best players are going to be suspended for 5 games, that's going to hurt, even with a soft preseason schedue {other than Miami FL.}

I am actually being quite optimistic about this year's Buckeyes. Honestly, their toughest test up until Wisconsin will be a slightly above average Michigan State team. I think by that time Braxton Miller will have emerged as the QB and that the team will have a firm grasp on their identity.

You must be the only one here who is optimistic about the Bucks, because they have way too much to replace, and we don't even know if Fickell is even a good coach or not. I know how this'll go, the Buckeyes will win against those weak teams, and lose in the big games, it's like that almost every year.

Overall, I might just be way to over-confident, or optimistic. If there's one game I am 100 percent sure of though... the Michigan game. I can't see us losing that one at all.

I'm not going to blame you for being optimistic, but in reality, the Bucks aren't going to compete for the Big Ten title this year.

Here's my season predictions for the Wolverines

Week 1: Western Michigan {W} {1-0}
Week 2: Notre Dame {W} {2-0}
Week 3: Eastern Michigan {W} {3-0}
Week 4: San Diego State {W} {4-0}
Week 5: Minnesota {W} {5-0}
Week 6: Northwestern {W} {6-0}
Week 7: Michigan State {L} {6-1}
Bye week 8
Week 9: Purdue {W} {7-1}
Week 10: Iowa {L} {7-2}
Week 11 Illinois {W} {8-2}
Week 12 Nebraska {L} {8-3}
Week 13 Ohio State {W} {9-3}

Am I being a little optimistic? Perhaps, but as long as Denard Robinson {who should be in the Heisman contention} can stay healthy and that defense gets far better, then Michigan can definitely surprise some people, and IMO, college football is better when Michigan is doing well and in contention.
