But at the same time, many believe the only reason the team is still in Buffalo is because of Ralph Wilson. When he dies there will probably be serious talk of relocation.
I would've have guessed that he would give away his franchise to one of his children, {if he has any, I don't know the man.} when he dies. Although, I'll bet their more than willing to relocate the franchise, as long as Jacksonville or San Diego doesn't pull the trigger first.
I really don't know why they gave away Evans to be honest
Evans was their only real down the field threat, but you have to admit he wasn't getting it done the last 2 years, though I think he'll tear it up with Flacco in Baltimore.
It's a damned if they do, damned if they don't kind of situation. If he stayed, he could possibly ruin his career with a bad team, but post up decent stats in the process. If he went {which he did} and starts to tear it up, then everyone would say "why did you give him away?" They should've traded him away years ago, but they stupidly didn't do that.
I'm sure that even if Toronto gets the Bills, I doubt all of Canada would root for them at all, especially in Manitoba, where I would guess that they're a lot of Packers/Vikings/Bears fans.
I'm not so sure about that. The Blue Jays do a pretty good job marketing themselves as "Canada's team," plus I'm sure Toronto could support a franchise on the strength of the GTA alone without having to pull from a wider region.
Well, when the Montreal Expos left, and MLB didn't bother to put teams outside of the eastern half of Canada, then I would understand that much. Plus, having 2 back to back WS titles does carry a lot of weight there.
It wont happen though.
You think the Bills are marginalized nationally? Imagine what it would be like if they played in another country, their games would be worthless to TV broadcasters outside of Canada and parts of upper New York State.
All the more reason why they're moving to Los Angeles, assuming that either the Jags or the Bolts don't pull the trigger first, so to speak. If that happens, then the Bills would have no choice but to stay there, and be like the Bengals of the 90's or the Lions/Browns of the early 2000's, where they were just horrendous.
Which is what makes the whole experiment thing all the more retarded, it's clearly a futile effort, why persist?
The NFL has offices in Japan, China, Mexico and even in Europe, so my guess is that they are following MLB and the NBA to expand their game, even though American Football is pretty exclusive to America, and a cult like sport most everywhere else. They're simply following the bandwagon of the other pro leagues in America.
I would be more intrigued if the NFL does eventually, oh let's say, put a pro team in Tokyo instead of anywhere in Canada, {for shits and giggles more than anything else.} even though I would imagine that it would be a logistical nightmare if that happens.
