I'm not going anywhere near the playoffs but I have predictions too

AFC EAST

Call me a homer or whatever but I think Buffalo gets a winning record and shows everyone how wrong they are about this team. Maybe they even beat New England for once...

Do I think they win the division? No, but do they do better than Miami? Yes, anyone can do better than Miami at this point though. I say the Pats take the division this year with the Jets stealing away another undeserved Wild Card spot because God hates me.

AFC WEST

I like the Chiefs. Oakland isn't going to repeat what they did last year in this division especially under new coaching. I still think Oakland does well but the Chiefs will almost certainly improve their passing and their run game will still overpower any defense they face. The Chargers aren't even in the discussion in my opinion, Rivers simply doesn't carry his team through the division anymore. The Broncos are The Broncos.

AFC NORTH

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the reign of Baltimore and Pittsburgh is coming to an end. Is this the year of the Browns? I think it just might be. They're fairly young and they have a lot of promise moving forward. Colt McCoy needs to have made marked improvement if they plan to win the division because Hillis can't win all 16 games alone. If they manage to get an upper mid tier passing game going then they could very well surpass Pitt and Baltimore, two teams who seem to have lost a lot of the punch they once packed. In all reality though Pitt will likely win the division again and lose early on in the playoffs. Cincy will want to forget about this season, or maybe they'll make a respectable showing moving forward (not likely though).

AFC SOUTH

Honestly I think the majority of the division is kind of a joke at this point. Indy has only declined and yet they still control this division with ease. That said I think the Jags make a run for the top but I would be surprised to see them hold a lead and make it to the playoffs. Maybe a wild card berth if they play the kind of football they should be playing with a team as well equipped with potential as them. Houston is another team that will more than likely fall short of the mark yet again and Tennessee should be focused more on winning a decent number of games rather than a division. Indy takes the division again, gets eliminated early in the playoffs. Jags and Houston could get Wild Card but I like the Jags better and think they, unlike Houston, might actually win in a playoff appearance.

NFC EAST

The Eagles are easily the favorites and for good reason. With New York generally MIA in the playoff discussion by the later weeks they'll be lucky if they maintain relevance by stomping on Washington and Dallas. Philly will eat this division alive and it'll be a fight for second, a fight between the Giants and two very average teams. I still think Washington surprises at times but not enough to warrant any serious discussion. The entire conference should be afraid of Philly and Vick, the rest of the division is nothing to get bothered about.

NFC WEST

This division is a real head scratcher for me. Honestly all of the teams in this division are average at best but if I had to pick I would say St Louis. St Louis has the best overall game and they don't usually get mauled by other teams. Any team in this division could take it though, mediocrity shines in the west. Not like it matters though, I seriously doubt any of these teams make a logically strong run in the playoffs.

NFC NORTH

GREEN BAY!!! Better luck next year everyone else in this division. On the real though, Lions and Bears are likely to make wild card berths I think they could plausibly take both of them but if I had to take one over the other I would take Chicago. The Vikings will slog through the year and hope things get better soon (but they won't).

NFC SOUTH

I like Tampa Bay. I think Atlanta and New Orleans just don't pack the punch to take it again. Something about them seems old and tired, like their window has closed. Tampa has so many strong young players and an ambitious quarterback who has already looked playoff ready. I think Tampa makes the playoffs this year, wild card or division leader. The Panthers might surprise people. They have a solid team that needs a quarterback and if that QB is Newton then they could go places, not this year though.

Ready for some football*? I can't wait to see the Broncs and Cowboys game for Tebow. I'm wanting to see how it all of the talk of the past week has affected/motivated him.

*By football I mean seeing the starters for only two series and watching players that will probably never play in the NFL ever again.

Jacksonville at New England
Baltimore at Philadelphia
Seattle at San Diego
Denver at Dallas
Arizona at Oakland

Let's just say I'm not very happy about a certain development regarding Steve Smith. Although he's with the Eagles, I wish him the best of luck and hopefully he'll drop some passes against us though that won't happen. Here's hoping the Giants receiving corps can develop, if all goes well it can help. They have great potential, just got to stop knocking some passes into the defenders' arms however.

In the end my main concern is the defense, they have to stop blowing leads or otherwise we'll have to hope the two other teams would crap their pants to get into the playoffs.

That debacle against the Eagles last winter still disgusted the hell out of me. Funny thing is that when it happened, Dodge and Manning gets the blame despite the fact that they didn't give up the three touchdown leads in the 4th quarter.

I can kind of understand why Dodge gets blamed due to knee-jerk reaction on how the game ends but...

I really do like Nicks and Manningham, but the main issue with the Giants on offense is which other WRs are going to step up. Part of the reason why Eli has so many picks last year is because of the WRs not getting to the ball.

In the end my main concern is the defense, they have to stop blowing leads or otherwise we'll have to hope the two other teams would crap their pants to get into the playoffs.

The front 7 are just fine, even without Osi, but the biggest concern is the secondary which really screwed them over last year. The Cowboys and Eagles made mincemeat out of that secondary, especially at home and yes, even the infamous Matt Dodge punt.

That debacle against the Eagles last winter still disgusted the hell out of me. Funny thing is that when it happened, Dodge and Manning gets the blame despite the fact that they didn't give up the three touchdown leads in the 4th quarter.

I don't really know why Manning got the blame, compared to the special teams that gave up the TD by Jackson. And don't forget about that defense giving up the lead beforehand as well, which was a real shame, considering that was the strength of the team.

It seems like a lot of people here are predicting that the Bengals are the worst team in the league with no talent, and I have to obviously disagree here. Now, I don't really expect the offense to be dynamic at all, considering how young they are on key positions and all, but the defense is actually very talented and rather underrated IMO. Carolina, Washington, Denver and even Cleveland are arguably worse off than the Bengals in terms of talent and ability, don't know why everyone is so quick to give up on Cincinnati, when there are worser teams out there.

MOAR Games tonight:

Pittsburgh at Washington
Miami at Atlanta
Cincinnati at Detroit
Tampa Bay at Kansas City - FOX
San Francisco at New Orleans

Nice to see Dallas able to make a comeback and win. Now to see if they can do that in the regular season when it counts.

The big news in this part of the world is the Texas A&M might jump to the SEC and virtually kill what's left of the Big 12. It would make sense, since Arkansas and A&M were once rivals at one point in the Southwest Conference before the Razorbacks left for the SEC.

I don't know where the other teams will shake out if the Aggies do leave other than Texas being Independent.

I accept this.

5. Baltimore Ravens {10-6}

They're coming back sooner or later.

6. San Diego Chargers {10-6}, orginally had them at 11-5 as well.

Chargers? No other team in the AFC is up for this position?

Shut the fuck up! San Diego will never go past the first round! Especially not over Big Ben.

Uh, every rookie has to take their lumps in the NFL, especially with Colt McCoy getting his ass handed to by Pittsburgh last year. {and it's Dalton, if your going to insult, at least spell his name right, lol.}

They got down in the red zone and Daulton threw a pretty decent fade route that ended up being incomplete. Aaron Rodgers would have had a guranteed touchdown on that one. It's easy to see the difference between rookie and elite lol.

Once again, he's a rookie in a preseason game no less. Hell, I've seen Dalton made better throws than your boy, Colt McCoy. Are you that insecure enough to bash the Bengals, that you seem to forget about Cleveland's problems?

Did I also mention that it was the PRESEASON?

Anyway, I also just saw Jordan Shipley in the huddle... I'd bet he hopes to god he doesn't meet with TJ Ward again this year.

Sure, he wouldn't want to meet with TJ Ward, because Shipley would be 10 yards ahead of him or so, running into the end zone and scoring a TD. Burned!

(WHY DID THE CARDINALS TAKE PATRICK PETERSON!!!)

Here's a better question, why the hell didn't your Browns get Julio Jones with the 6th pick, He's a hell of a lot better then most of your other WRs. But then again, it's the Browns were talking about, they always do stupid shit like this all the time, it's no wonder why you guys are in the AFC North basement almost every year.

Stats are like bikinis.

They would show a lot but not everything, however if you analyze the stats and break it down with the help of game logs, you can still strip off the top.

I'd say Wisconsin would have a chance if it wasn't for the BCS' massive boner for Ohio State and the simple fact that Wisconsin would have to do a lot more than a number of teams to make it to a championship.

So it'll probably be some vastly overrated Southern Team against Oklahoma, Texas, or some other BCS approved team.

Yea... I said that.

Judging by your comments, you make it sound like the regular season has already started. Perhaps I've read your comment wrong, and was being sarcastic. {not very likely, though.}

Hell, I've seen Dalton made better throws than your boy, Colt McCoy. Are you that insecure enough to bash the Bengals, that you seem to forget about Cleveland's problems?
Well when I hear fans shout in my ear every year that the Bengals season result will be "SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR!!!" then I think I am entitled to bash them. It's funny that this is the first year since Carson broke his leg that the fans are actually being realists.

Sounds like a little bit of jealousy on your part, because the Browns haven't even been close to sniffing a Super Bowl for the last 20 years or so. Not to mention we draft players far better than you guys to begin with, so it's hard not to be optimistic at the time, hell every team thinks that they have a shot at the Super Bowl every year, even if they do suck. {Just look at Arizona or Carolina as an example.} Just be glad that I'm not a Steeler fan, otherwise I would be waving those 6 SB titles like a certain appendange that I'm not at liberty to mention.

Sure, he wouldn't want to meet with TJ Ward, because Shipley would be 10 yards ahead of him or so, running into the end zone and scoring a TD. Burned!
Are you so insecure about your Bengals that you have to bash TJ Ward?

Well, TJ Ward is an average player at best, you make it sound like he's the next Asomuaga or Revis. I guess we'll have to wait for Week 1 then to see who is right.

Julio Jones is injury proned, Peterson would have made the Browns secondary a powerhouse for years to come... You do understand how much cap room we have now, right?

Pure speculation at best, and besides if you wanted Peterson that badly, then they should've lost to New England and New Orleans then, because Arizona picked him at 5, and it wasn't like he was going to sink out of the top 5 anyways.

And to your cap argument, who you're going to get with that space in the future? It's either going to be nothing at all {the usual} or sign someone former Pro Bowler/Super Bowl star who's either past his prime, or doesn't fit the system at all. It'll be a cold day in hell when some elite free agents take their talents to Cleveland, knowing how much they find ways to screw it up somehow.

Also... no.

Uh, what does that prove? The Browns haven't won the division since 1989, and has only 2 playoff apperances since then. Plus, at least we have been in 2 Super Bowls before, only losing to possibly the greatest QB in NFL history. What's your excuse?

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I predict that Oklahoma will win the National Title this year, even with they are going through in the injury department. The key for them is to keep their focus throughout the season, because they're obviously going to be heavy favorites everywhere they go, and they could easily fall into an upset, like they did with Missouri last year.

As much as I respect the SEC and all, someone's got to break that monopoly sometime, and what better time than now. {prepares for SEC fan's verbal firebombing.}

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Things are just getting worse for the Giants. They just lost Terrell Thomas for the season.

Other news: Terrelle Pryor heads to Oakland. Some say it's a good fit but I don't think so. Who is he going to learn from, Campbell? I think not. He is in QB limbo now.

And nine more days until college football kicks off.
