And Seattle usually plays pretty well in the playoffs despite their record.

Everyone wants to knock the Buckeyes, but I still think they have the right stuff to win this game...Pryor is looking to go out with a bang, me thinks....might be his last season as a Buckeye, who knows?

Everyone knocks on the Bucks because they do stupid shit on and off the field, yet they seem to get away with it almost every time for some reason. As for Pryor, he needs to go pro because he isn't going to get any better if he stays, if anything he'll damage his draft stock more because all of the talent around him is going to be gone, and I know he can't carry the whole offense on his back. Tressel needs to stop making empty promises to his players, and focus on not choking bowl games and making sure that no one trades their Big Ten "awards" for goddamn tattoos.

Also is it me, or is Brett Favre and the Jets the biggest perverts in the league today? Seriously, if any woman with big boobs or a nice ass {or sexy feet in the case of Rex} happens to walk into the Jets locker room, then everyone there would have a massive nosebleed that would fill the Atlantic Ocean.

Anyone who actually considers drafting Pryor deserves the shitty quarterback he is.

He can barely play a whole game without an INT and all he has is the same gimmick that Newton and Tebow had but with none of the throwing talent.

Tom Cable...YOU OUT.

Hue Jackson, I hope you're in. And don't keep fucking up 3rd and 4th-down calls, please.

Oh Pryor won't be a QB in the NFL. He'll have to convert to a receiver or a running back if he wants to stay long in the league.

For the Sugar Bowl, OSU is just waiting to blow it. It's only a matter of time.

close, but Mallett managed to blow it even more.

When that punt was blocked I was temped to post, "told ya so"; luckily they managed to survive.

I don't blame Mallett too much. The zone blitz call to take way his check down that everyone knew he was going to throw it to was an excellent one to make.

Scratch one for the Big Ten and apparently the New Years day disaster for the conference should have been no surprise. All of the Big Ten teams were at least a touchdown underdogs and the three teams that won for the conference were favorites. Of course that no consolation for Rich Rod, heh.

The WAC and the Big 12 are the biggest disappointments with the Mountain West being the greatest surprise (only loss was Utah to Boise State).

Even so, Arkansas wasn't supposed to be in this position in the first place, considering how well they went up and down the field with their offense. But their defense fell for Pryor's little dance moves and that little shit Sanzenbacker, and they strangely couldn't keep up on offense.

I don't know why it's taking so long to fire Rich Rod, fire him already and get someone else, there are a lot of people who would sell their house to be head coach at Michigan, this time they shouldn't swing and miss. The Big Ten is a disaster in bowl games, and Ohio State shouldn't have won that game, they should have suspended their players, take their beating and go home, but about 8 months from now, polls will put Ohio State in the top 3 again, even though they still don't deserve it.

Of course it helps when Wisconsin fucks up in the Rose Bowl, and every other opponent the Mtn. West faced in a bowl game was marshmallow soft and weak, {except for Boise State, who were supposed to beat a talentless Utah team.}

You better check this one out.

The first answer's clearly a result of lack of research. The second answer did got it right when it comes to championship but didn't bother to point out the fact that there's no Ravens at the time. It was the Colts.

The problem is not how Ohio State won the game, it who they used to win the game, the very same suspended players helped them win, even though they should've been suspened for the Sugar Bowl, but I guess it's a little late for the should'ves now. When I saw them win the Sugar Bowl, they have lost their dignity in the process, which I kind of expected from that jag off Terrelle Pryor, and that hypocritical smart-ass Jim Tressel.

I may be sounding naive here, but at least when Michigan wins, they always try to have dignity and honor, whereas the Buckeyes {and their fans more so}, act like low brow cunts when they smash a cupcake team 70-0, and make it sound like Woody Hayes is reincarnated into Tressel, when in reality he's probably coaching in Hell, metaphorically speaking.

Perhaps I'm being way too harsh here, but regardless of which my point still stands.

Congrats to illuminate. He wears the crown this year.

If reverend will take on the resposibility of creating the trophies then I'll go ahead and create some awards to give out to people at the very end of the season.

34Deadman just stopped playing for some reason and he ends up being the only name on the list with less than 100 wins.

Even though EternitySpirit was sitting several places down a few weeks ago he managed to climb up to 2nd place behind illuminate.

Playoffs Week 1 Schedule:

Saturday:

NYJ @ IND
NO @ SEA

Sunday:

BAL @ KC
GB @ PHI

NO @ SEA

It's a joke that a 7-9 team is in the playoffs, but that doesn't matter now. Got to go with the Saints on the road.

Sunday:
BAL @ KC

Ravens seem to like playing playoff games on the road, and I see them winning this time.

GB @ PHI

Going with the Eagles here, I still don't trust Aaron Rodgers or their running game at all.

It's not just OSU with the soft schedule, but the entire conference's non-conference schedule was soft and they paid for it:
Ohio State: Marshall, #12 Miami FL, Ohio, Eastern Michigan - 0-2 (Miami and Ohio lost their bowls) -
Wisconsin: UNLV, San Jose State, Arizona State, Austin Peay - 0-0 (none played in a bowl)
Michigan State: Western Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Notre Dame, Northern Colorado - 1-0 (ND won its bowl)
Michigan: Connecticut, Notre Dame, Massachusetts, Bowling Green - 1-1 (ND won and UConn lost its bowl)
Penn State: Youngstown State, #1 Alabama, Kent State, Temple - 1-0 (Alabama won its bowl)
Iowa: Eastern Illinois, Iowa State, #24 Arizona, Ball State - 0-1 (Arizona lost its bowl)
Northwestern: Vanderbilt, Illinois State, Rice, Central Michigan - 0-0 (none played in a bowl)
Illinois: Missouri, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Fresno State (Dec) - 1-2 (NIU won over Fresno State, Mizzou lost)

For comparison:
Oklahoma: Utah State, #18 Florida State, Air Force, Cincinnati - 2-0 (FSU and Air Force won their bowls)
Oklahoma State: Washington State, Troy, Tulsa, Louisiana-Lafayette - 2-0 (Tulsa and Troy won their bowl)
Mizzou: Illinois, McNeese State, San Diego State, Miami OH - 2-0 (Illinois, San Diego St. won their bowls, Miami OH is playing now)

The Big 10 just need to stop scheduling FCS teams and play some of the lower FBS teams for their non-conference schedule.

I agree 100% with you on that. The Big Ten loves to scheduling weak teams to boost their records, which is bullshit to say the least. At least Michigan did beat the Big East conference champion UConn handily {I know that the Big East sucks ass in football, but still}, and Notre Dame, which ended up having a pretty good season with a bowl win, which is more than I can say for everyone else in the not so Big 10.

Saints. Colts. Ravens. Packers.

All these games kind of seem like mismatches too me, GB/PHI excepted, not that one of the other 3 can't come up with an upset or anything; just that I feel it would actually be a substantial upset - rather than 2 evenly matched teams squaring off.

Though a Jets loss and a Ravens win, would secure Ravens-Patriots round 2, which would probably be epic. Then again a Jets win would result in Jets-Pats and Steelers-Ravens, also full of win. I have no scenario involving a chiefs win because I don't believe.

Also, Fucking Seahawks, lol.

I don't really know why everyone on ESPN seems to fall in love with the Jets, considering that they lost 3 of their last 5 games, and Mark Sanchez is still vastly overrated. I can't see the Jets winning at all at Indy, Peyton Manning is still the QB for the Colts, they finally found a running game, and the Jets don't play very well on the road at all. People need to stop treating them like they are the reincarnation of the '85 Bears, and realize how fraudulent they really are.

As for the Ravens and Chiefs matchup, I really wanted to go with the Chiefs at home, but with an 0-3 home playoff record since 1994, and Baltimore winning so many playoff games on the road, I had to go with the Ravens.

Saints and the Seahawks, this one is a joke, enough said.

The reason why I picked the Eagles over Green Bay is because I don't believe Rodgers will get it done when it matters most. Their defense may make it close, but with no running game to speak of, the Packers aren't really that threating to anyone else, not to mention they'll be on the road throughout the playoffs, and they have a piss poor record on the road.

Though a Jets loss and a Ravens win, would secure Ravens-Patriots round 2, which would probably be epic.

Technically, it would be Ravens-Patriots Round 3, considering the regular season matchup that the Pats won in overtime. This time, I can't imagine that the Ravens would beat down the Patriots at all, if anything, the Patriots could easily drop at least 38 on Baltimore's D, given the chance. Considering how much they carved up the rest of the league, the rest of the AFC teams aren't as scary as most people want to imagine.

Steelers can't win in New England, nor can they even keep up on the offensive side of the ball.

The Patriots would surely remember last year's beatdown at the hands of the Ravens, you better believe they're going to get some payback for that.

Last time the Jets went to New England, they got slaugtered 45-3, I don't think it's going to be any different if they do get this far.

Colts are too banged up to stand with the Patriots toe to toe on either side of the ball.

The Chiefs may have the best shot to defeat New England, with their running game and Matt Cassel, but I don't think they'll ever get that chance.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

The Aggies started out great, but haven't really done much since the first quarter. The turnovers really killed them. I'm hoping they win, but it's going to be difficult when they are down by 14 in the 4th.

Last year's Super Bowl Champions are losing 31 to 20 to the team that has the worst regular-season record (7-9) of any Playoff Team in history. Only in America...

Saints lost 41-36 to the 7-9 Seahawks, which proves that the Saints' Super Bowl win last year was largely a fluke. Something tells me that this is the 2010's version of the St. Louis Rams, who only won 1 Super Bowl, choked another one, and crashed and burned ever since.

Then again, this isn't the first time this season that the Saints played down to their competition, which is embrassing if you ask me.

The Saints should not be called a bad team for this loss at all, and their win was no fluke. The Seahawks earned this win more than anything else. Hasselbeck had a career game and that entire team buckled down and put on a great performance. At the end of the day a team with as much on their back as Seattle is a force of nature and you just can't win.

Let's hope they send Chicago home crying too so that the Bears can stop kidding themselves.

Response to American Football Discussion 2011-01-08 21:05:53

To be honest I'm not surprised that the Seahawks won. This Saints team wasn't all that good, having lost to the Cards and the Browns of all teams this season, as well as having to go on the road.

It's nice they won, but don't see them beating either the Bears or Falcons next week. Great run by Lynch; pity he didn't run like that for the Bills. :P
