Anywho, week by week, here we go.

Wild Card Round
NY Jets at Cincinnati

Cincinnati

Philadelphia at Dallas

Philadelphia, UPSET!

Baltimore at New England

New England

Green Bay at Arizona

Arizona

And since those are my 4 winners I'll do a quick bracket to see how close I get
So my predictions result in these Divisional round match-ups:
Cincinnati @ Indianapolis - COLTS
New England @ San Diego - CHARGERS
Philadelphia @ New Orleans - SAINTS
Arizona @ Minnesota - VIKINGS
Championship Round:
San Diego @ Indianapolis - CHARGERS
Minnesota @ New Orleans - SAINTS
Super Bowl:
New Orleans vs. San Diego - CHARGERS

Oh crap, I forgot to add on my responses part to that post. Oh well, Double post!

At 1/2/10 11:44 AM, Fro wrote: No special comment for me saying that I was the only one to pick the Jets?
When you mention it, I should not count it since the Colts basically threw that game. :P

Well, if you're going to do that can you lump in from this week: Colts, Saints, Pats, Cardinals and Bengals? That would really help me out.

Silly me for thinking some teams would want some momentum going into the playoffs, especially if they don't have a first round bye.

At 1/4/10 12:33 AM, reverend wrote: * Also, did anybody else know that they are holding the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl? What's up with that?

Yeah, they changed that this past off-season. I don't know why. It's already the least popular of All-Star games out there, and with participation in it low due to injury and exhaustion they just ruled out more players from playing in it by putting it right before the Super Bowl. No players from the 2 Super Bowl teams will go to it now, and I doubt the losers from the respective AFC/NFC championship games would want to go either.

They should just get rid of it in my opinion. Have the festivities and all, but don't actually play the game. Maybe have it more like a meet-and-greet with fans or something.

At 1/4/10 12:45 AM, Buddhist wrote: - Maurice Jones-Drew is probably the most counted-on back in the game. Even the Titans would have trouble arguing with that. Without MJD, that team is pretty much devoid of any talent (Mike Sims-Walker being the main exception) on the offensive side of the ball.

Well, if Vince Young can continue the upward trend from this year and not regress like he did last year, they can count on a fairly decent QB too. Of course that's a big "if."

- In the same vein, here's hoping DMac gets traded to some team that maybe still thinks he has the kind of upside they thought he had when we drafted him.

Was listening to the infamous sports talk radio here in Philly yesterday and with the notion of trading 5 in mind, they came up with some teams that they thought could be on the short-list in no particular order of likeliness: Cleveland, Denver (if they lose Orton), Minnesota (if Favre calls it quits...AGAIN), Arizona (Warner could retire, McNabb trains there in off-season), and San Francisco (if Smith is gone).

Response to American Football Discussion 2010-01-05 20:56:32

Bill Sheridan, Giants defensive coordinator, was fired yesterday. Even before the 3-8 slide the Giants defense wasn't all that good (40 points in Dallas?), and with the injuries they had to the major motivators, Bill didn't step up to get his team fired up.

At 1/4/10 11:43 PM, reverend wrote: Wild Card Round

Bengals. Not even sure how the Jets made it into the playoffs.

Philadelphia at Dallas

Eagles, because Romo can't handle a playoff game, and McNabb likes to wait until the NFC Championship to break your heart.

Baltimore at New England

Patriots. I like the Ravens, but they have a young offense with no #1 receiver. Look for a better run next year.

Green Bay at Arizona

Arizona. I just don't see Green Bay as a good defensive team, and Arizona is too powerful offensively

Here are the next few rounds:

Philadelphia at New Orleans

Saints. Hopefully they took the week off to get back into mid-season form, while Philly, who has an explosive offense of their own, will see a stiff defense that won't let the receivers run free

Arizona at Minnesota

Vikings. They just look too good on paper, and the performance they showed at the end of the Bears game and first half of the Giants game should give them confidence

New England at Indy

Colts. While always a good game, the Patriots will need every weapon they can get, and with Welker out, they won't be able to match up.

Cincinnati at San Diego

Chargers. While the Bengals surprised everyone by actually being good this year, they aren't a championship team until their defense gets a bit older.

That's all I'm making for now. I'll adjust my picks next week, and make my future picks.

Poor Colt, KO'ed in the first quarter. If Texas had a chance it's gone now.

The pick-6 before the half is possibly already the nail in the coffin for the Texans. It's a shame, too. The drives with Colt were pretty decent, even though they only ended up in 2 field goals. Their offense is just lost now.

Response to American Football Discussion 2010-01-08 00:43:00

You know it turned out to be a pretty good game without Colt especially in the second half. Pity that Garrett Gilbert had to ruin it with a fumble towards the end.

No surprise that the SEC continues their dominance in BCS title games.

Wild Card Weekend:

New England > Baltimore. Even without Welker, January football is what the Patriots are all about. Too much inconsistency with the Ravens to believe they can defeat the dominant team of the last decade.

Cincinnati > The Jets. New York is not a very good team and were extremely lucky to even make the playoffs. and certain would not have had Troy Polomalu played in every single game this season. Still questioning how good the Bengals are but going 6-0 in division, including 2 victories over the Ravens and Steelers, makes me confident they are superior to the Jets

Dallas > Philadelphia. Beat them once. Beat them twice. What has changed since then? Stop Jackson from running silly all over the field and you've stopped the Eagles offence, there running game just ain't what it used to be.

Arizona > Green Bay. The current Packer team strikes me as one of those borderline teams, good enough to consistently make the playoffs, but perpetually eliminated early. The Cardinals are actually a little better than they were last year I believe, but will still not have quite enough to go all the way. The X factor is Lambeau field however, this is probably the game I am least confident picking.

I through together my fantasy bracket in paint, which is a surprisingly painstaking task, I need to re-up photoshop on this computer. Anyway I have the Chargers winning the superbowl. I've seen weakness' in the Colts all season and I just don't think they will do it. New Orleans has sputtered lately too and I'm not even sure they will beat Arizona/Green Bay. The Vikings might do it, but it seems unlikely at best.

I jizzed in my pants the whole freakin game.

Who said that the Cowboys couldn't beat the Eagles three times in a row?

That was a statement win. Now I'm really looking forward to the game vs. Minnesota.

Go Cowboys!

Response to American Football Discussion 2010-01-10 02:31:29

The Cowboys winning wasn't too much of a surprise to me, but having the Jets beating down the Bengals was unexpected. I'm not sure if it was the Jets being pretty good or the Bengals not showing up. I know Ocho didn't.

Not surprising, he did have one hell of a year. Some could argue for Brees or Favre, or Rivers - which are all valid choices - but I think they got it right with Manning. Especially since we saw what the Colts did after they pulled him vs. the Jets. Colts with Peyton = AFC Superbowl contender, Colts w/out Peyton = chopped liver.

I think they do but yeah nothing that exceeds the 150k limit, which is like just a few frames tops.

At 1/10/10 12:32 AM, SpiffyMasta wrote: Who said that the Cowboys couldn't beat the Eagles three times in a row?

All the "trendy" T.V. personalities that want to say the Eagles would win. That way they can puff themselves up if they did, but if they don't win, the personality doesn't lose too much in terms of credibility after last week's performance. They could just point out that not much can change in terms of personnel/schemes in less than a week.

Of course people just love to say it's hard to beat a team 3 times in one year, and although I don't have the numbers on me right now (google it) I've heard people point out that the team that won the first 2 games wins the third game at a 60%+ clip. So that statement is a not really truthful. In the end, this game was decided on the lines. Dallas consistently got in the Philly backfield, and Philly couldn't do the same on the other side of the ball.

Anywho, I think it's music time. Here's some Aerosmith

Fate comes a-knockin
Doors start lockin
Your old time connection
Change your direction
You aint gonna change it
Cant rearrange it
Cant stand the pain
When it's all the same to you, my friend

When you're low down and dirty
From walkin the street
With your old hurdy gurdy
No one to meet
Said love aint the same
On the south side of town
You could look
But you aint gonna find it around

Its the same old story
Same old song and dance, my friend
Its the same old story
Same old story
Same old song and dance

And that sums up the Eagles.

I have been watching an anime that's about football

That's right, American Football, and its actually pretty good. Strange for a show about a sport that's not even that popular in Japan.

BTW, this is my first post in this club, so I guess I will say that my favorite team is the New England Patriots.

I guess they have to do something to try and save the Pro Bowl. It'll be pretty sad to be the only pro team to not have an all star game. It's going to be intersting to see what kind of reaction it's going to receive. Probably the only people going are the ones who couldn't get SB tickets. Ha!

Okay seriously what idiot would draft Cutler as the top pick on fantasy? Everyone knows on first round always draft running back no matter what, after that then you can worry about quarterbacks and they have to be someone like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, not Cutler!

I remember one dude trade Palmer and a running back for Tom Brady, at least that's what he said on Yahoo Answers. With Palmer hurt as well it doesn't matter much but still...

Minnesota > Dallas. I don't have a real good feel for this game, so go with the favourite and trust in Brett.

Baltimore > Indianapolis. Brady, Manning, whatever, Ain't no thing. Just going out on a limb with this one, but playoff picks are generally a crap-shoot anyway.

Arizona > New Orleans. I reconsidered, the Saints might score 50 points, but will probably still find a way to lose.
