I'm not sure if I should start Reggie Bush this week or Laurence Maroney in fantasy football this week.

With Reggie I have the chance of him breaking a big play and he has been scoring touchdowns lately. With Maroney he is obviously their back that is going to get the touchdown scoring carries and would of had two touchdowns last week if he hadn't fumbled at the 1 yard line.

So big play that may result in a lot of yards and maybe a score or the back that you know is going to get the tough touchdowns, but might not get the chance to with Tom Brady.

Sign of the times right here.

Brian Brohm, once the pride of Louisville and a sure first-rounder, was signed by the Bills from the Packers' practice squad.

Talk about falling hard. You go from potential first-rounder, fall to the second round, end up as a 3rd-stringer, get beaten for that job by a QB worse than you (Matt Flynn), get put on the practice squad, and then get signed by the Buffalo Bills.

But at least this means he'll likely get a few cracks at a starting gig, since Ryan Fitzpatrick sucks and Trent Edwards is mediocre at best.

also, STICKY ICKY RICKY IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN MIAMIIIIII; can't wait to see him tear it up again and have all the writers talk about his rejuvenation and yada yada yada.

IMHO, I'd go with Bush. First off, the Saints are playing Tampa, who are 31st in Rushing defense in terms of yards per game; Pats play the Jets who are 18th. I can see New Orleans taking a good lead against Tampa and just using Bush to pound the ball at the end of the game to eat up clock and get tack-on yardage.

Also the Jets are a much better team than the Bucs and they could actually hang around with New England or perhaps threaten to take the lead, forcing an offense that requires more passing than rushing. If that's the case Maroney loses touches, and he's not a major factor when it comes to New England's passing game, but Bush is a regular target for Brees so you might get some more points there.

Just a disclaimer, when it comes to fantasy football I'm usually a middle of the pack kinda player. I usually make it to the playoffs but usually don't go very far. I think in most leagues I average around 4th place or so out of 10 people. So if you want to use my advice, good luck. Just don't blame me if it backfires ;)

Well if we're to believe guys like Tony Dungy and other reporters, Vick is probably going to end up there next year. So if Brohm does get a few chances and some playing time, he better make the most of them and be rather impressive.

Just do the thing where you count the Thursday night game as a loss. I hate Thursday games and I only post here like once a week for this. Oh well.

Week 11 Schedule:
Miami at Carolina - I was going to pick Carolina anyways. Oh well.

Washington at Dallas - I feel like this is a trap game, but Washington won their game against Denver. I'll go Dallas simply because they are playing the crappy Skins.

Cleveland at Detroit - I don't even know how to pick for this crappy game. I'm gonna go with Detroit, since they somewhat have an offense.

San Francisco at Green Bay - San Fran has a great secondary, however their front four should have a little more to be desired. I'm gonna go Green Bay.

Pittsburgh at Kansas City - Hopefully Tomlin has his Steelers focused. Steelers.

Atlanta at NY Giants - This should be a good one. Coming off a tough loss to Carolina, and the Giants are in a hole. Hopefully they got that extra prep they needed during the bye. Giants.

New Orleans at Tampa Bay - This should go New Orleans way, but don't be surprised if this one's a shootout, unless New Orleans gets their secondary back, because then it'll be a blowout.

Buffalo at Jacksonville - Good riddance to Dick Jauron, and any hopes of winning any more games this season. Jacksonville.

Indianapolis at Baltimore - Baltimore has been less inspiring each week. Peyton Manning has been an inspiration to all young high school quarterbacks everywhere. Colts.

Seattle at Minnesota - Brett Favre is on a roll. I'd say he has a good 3-4 game cushion in the surprisingly crappy NFC North. However, I don't think Seattle has a chance in this one, unless they miraculously trade for Chris Johnson, but I'm pretty sure that can't happen anymore. Vikings.

Arizona at St. Louis - St. Louis was close last week, however, Arizona will be coming full throttle, and they finally have a run game, too. Cardinals.

NY Jets at New England - In Part II, the Belichek makes up for his fuck up, and Rex Ryan grabs the tissues as he can't reprise his victory. Patriots.

Cincinnati at Oakland - Cincinnati, obviously. The Raiders are sitting a fat piece of crap for a piece of crap. Cincinnati has Carson Palmer, indisputably the best USC quarterback coming from this decade's drafts. Bengals.

San Diego at Denver - Josh Mishandles has been exposed, and his girly armed quarterback can't help him. The Chargers might as well just not even try in September and pick things up in October instead. Lord knows that the Broncos can't keep a lead in the division. Chargers.

Philadelphia at Chicago - This is an easy matchup for Donovan. Eagles.

Tennessee at Houston - Another really tough one here. Chris Johnson promised us a 10-game winning streak. However, I can't see Matt Schaub passing up one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Texans.

Also, this.

Wow! UConn just blew a golden opportunity to win the game against Notre Dame in regulation. I mean it's tied at 20, with less than a minute to go and they force a fumble to get the ball at Notre Dame's 40. They have all their timeouts and they decide to run the ball to get within field goal range, good idea. So they end up running the ball to around the 20-25 yard line, which would be something like a 38-43 yarder. But instead of using their timeouts and trying to get ever closer to make what would be a chip-shot of a field goal they let the clock run down because ND has no time-outs. Well, their kicker missed it wide left. I understand that they would be afraid of fumbles and whatnot and don't want ND getting the ball back at all, but they've gotta be aggressive there.

They better hope they find a way to win it in overtime.

Response to American Football Discussion 2009-11-21 18:39:37

Well they did end up winning in overtime, 33-30. The running game was all over Notre Dame's defense. Guess UConn took a page out of Navy's book. Nice to see them win a good one after their tragedy.

But, this is just another nail in the coffin for Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. They could've finished strong and went 9-3, they even could've made a record of 8-4 for themselves. Either of those records and Charlie probably stays. A 7-5 record would definitely put that in jeopardy, and that's what I thought could very well happen. But losing at home today, their last home game, with Stanford still left to play... well let's just say I don't see ND finishing 7-5 anymore. I don't care how much certain people like Charlie there, 6-6 is not a record anyone is going to be happy with.

Charlie came in saying that a 7-5 team "wasn't good enough" and that if anyone thought he'd be a .500 guy they'd be wrong. Well I think 7-5 is looking pretty good to him right now.

I think the only thing that is keeping Wies from getting fired is his huge contract (18 Million buyout) and the huge contract from the big name coach who wants some more job security in contract length. This year is bad for him, but I don't think it's over for him; even though it really needs to be.

Oh Cleveland, can you do nothing right? Let's see, you blew a 24-3 first quarter lead, to the Lions no less. But then you actually had the stones to come back to take the lead, only to have your super-duper defense give up a pass interference in the end-zone when all they had to do was knock the ball down on a hail mary as there was no time left on the clock. So instead of winning 37-31, you have to send that super-duper defense back on the field for a 1st and goal at the 1 with no time left on the clock as the game can't end on a defensive penalty. A blind man with no idea what football is could see what would end up happening there.

Thanks for screwin up my upset pick. I don't think these guys are going to win any more games, not even vs. Oakland or Kansas City. And speaking of K.C., there's an upset I don't think anyone saw coming. Oh well, there's 2 games that should've went other ways. Man, 4 measly points separated me from starting 10-0 so far on my bounce-back weekend, and here I stand 8-2. C'mon late game picks!

Fuck Matt Lienart.
His complete inability to run even one successful drive against one of the worst defenses in the league, allowed Saint Louis to close within 8 points.

As such, Arizona doesn't cover the 9 point spread.

As such, I lose out on 50 bucks.

In conclusion, Fuck Lienart up his ass. I'm not gay, but I'll fuck him up his ass.

Also, LOL Steelers. Can't say I didn't enjoy watching that.

Fuck Cincy.

Every year I pick Oakland to win their game against Cincy, and every year I'm right because the Raiders have yet to lose to Cincy in Oakland...however, this year I assumed given their ability to beat a lot of good teams that they would get an easy win, so I picked Cincy.

That's one of my only missed calls in pick 'em this week. The others are excusable (CAR over MIA and PIT over KC), but damn.

But hey, at least Bruce Gradkowski is about 10x better than JaMarcus is. Shit, the man threw TWO touchdown passes. TWO!

Also, fuck Laurence Maroney. I bench him against the Jets in favor of Ladell Betts vs Dallas, because I assumed that a) Maroney wouldn't be getting a lot of carries, especially goalline touches, b) Betts would become Washington's offense because Jason Campbell is mediocre and there's no Portis, and c) Tom Brady has too many weapons to want to revert to the run game.

And then Betts left the game with a knee injury.
And then Maroney scored a 1-yard TD.
And then Maroney scored a 2-yard TD.
And then Maroney put the nail in my team's coffin this week in NG League FFB.

I have a lot riding on this Philly-Chicago game. Got DeSean Jackson, Greg Olson and LeSean McCoy in one league (other guy has Brent Celek and a 20something-fan-point lead), and in my other league I have McNabb, Celek and David Akers, down roughly 33 fan pts. Better be a barnburner.

Well, like most of you, my benchings fucked me in the ass.

I sat Correll Buckhalter as punishment for LOSING .90 points in the NG Fantasy League, and I ended up losing that game by .42 points. He got 8.10 points today.

I benched Kevin Boss because Eli never throws to the guy, especially in the redzone. And of course, today, he gets 2 TOUCHDOWNS and 76 yards, leading to a massive 19.60 points.

Domenik Hixon blows, and almost never gets anything on returns. But today he decided to whip out his dick and slap everyone with it as he went for 162 yards and 16 receiving yards. That's 9.70 points.

I benched Micheal Jenkins because Atlanta never throws the ball, and when they do, it's never to him. 7.60 points.

I kept Jason Witten starting because he used to be Tony Homo's favorite target. Now they're just fuck buddies. Only 4.30 points.

Dallas Clark. One of the most explosive tight ends in the game. But apparently his end was too tight for Manning today. Only 6.30 points.

Now I have to rely on Jacoby Jones to score at least 7 points tomorrow for me to win.

I'm fucked, aren't I?

Within striking distance of a W this week, but the only way it's happening is if Andre Johnson has about 150 yards and 2 TDs and on the flipside, Nate Washington has to do pretty much nothing.

meh. 5-6...about where I should be given my drafting in that league this year. Why I always play the worst ffb in my NG League, i dunno.
