My picks for the week, I went 2-2 last week but didn't post my picks. Here are my picks from last week. If I went with all the favorite teams to win I would be 4-0 like most of you are but I like to try to be different and I went for the underdogs in the games.

I went 4-0 last week and a combined 15 points off the correct scores as well, so hopefully I'll do well again this week.

I've got:

Broncos over Ravens by 10 points (go Broncos!)
Patriots over Texans by 10 points (though I wouldn't be surprised if it was more)

The other two are complete coin tosses for me, with great matchups of strength against strength.

49ers narrowly over the Packers (I have by one point), but could go either way.
Seahawks narrowly over the Falcons by 3 points (I'm much less confident of this now that Clemson has been injured, but I don't like Ryan in the playoffs against this secondary).

I really do feel like this is their best shot to get over the hump, because if they can't beat Seattle in their own house, then they'll probably never will get to where they want to go. Aside from their defense and running game, the Seahawks are not really that special as a team, especially when they have a rookie at QB, and I do believe that the Falcons have what it takes to exploit Seattle's weaknesses. {and vice versa.}

It is too bad for Gonzalez since it could be his best shot for the ring, only for the ring to be out of reach in the end. The least the Falcons can do is to try to get him to play in the game since a chance is better than none at all. It would be interesting if we end up with a matchup between Falcons and Broncos since the latter has Champ Bailey who is also looking for his first ring as well.

In the end, you'll never know since there could be no veterans looking for his first ring playing in the big game, but it happens.

I'll take it one step further, I don't see Ohio State making it to the National Championship game at all, much less go undefeated again next year, even in the Big Ten which is godawful. This team has way too many flaws on offense and is too reliant on that defense to bail them out, {kind of like Notre Dame this year} and even then, they still get carved up by teams such as Cal and even Purdue.

They might win their own division in the Big Ten or even the conference title itself, {that's a bit of a stretch} but they will not be in the national title game, that I guarantee. Personally, I think it will be Oregon and Alabama who will play in next year's title game.

My friend told me that Russell Wilson is a hypejob & that Matt Ryan is going to lead his Falcons to a Victory? He claims that the Falcons have a much superior offense and he says Matt Ryan is a much better seasoned quarterback than Russell Wilson. My friend said some racist stuff and said something about Matt Ryan being white so he knows how to be a qb and that Russell Wilson will do what all black qb's do and fail when it matters the most to move on to the big game.

I brought up the fact that Washington Redskins had an African American qb that help lead them to their Super Bowl Victory back in the 80's. But he said they just got lucky!!! Is he right about Russell Wilson and the Seahawks being hype-jobs? He said they barely got past a damaged RG3 and that the Falcons would expose them.

I'd agree that Ryan is the better QB for now, though I doubt he will be for many more years. But that is entirely missing the point. Nobody ever said that the Seahawks had the better offense, they clearly don't. What they do have is by far the better defense, and the second best running back in the league. Wilson doesn't necessarily have to do much at all and the Seahawks could still win. As it is the game could go either way- Ryan will have to play at his best, and Lynch and the Seahawks defense will have to play great to stop him. Wilson just needs to play OK and look after the ball.

So basically your friend is talking shit. The old mantra that defense wins championships is still true or the Patriots and Packers would have won every title for the last 10 years. A lot of people are picking against the Falcons for good reason.

I couldn't ask for a more exciting game so far with the Ravens vs. Broncos tied at 21-21 at the half. Although, the Ravens defense needs to start putting pressure on Manning in the second half because, other than that pick six, Manning has pretty much been picking them apart. There's definitely still hope for the Ravens though, I was expecting things to be much worse for them already.

Forget about Manning, this is the Holliday show! Been a great game so far, though as a Broncos fan I'd rather we were further ahead than we are. The defense just hasn't shown up so far, especially Champ. On the plus side despite the poor defensive play the Broncos still lead by 7.

Please stop giving away offsides... penalties killing the Broncos.

Fumble!

Ugh... some of the play calling here is ridiculous. This isn't Tebow with the ball! Why not let Manning throw for that 7 yards? This game would be dead now. Or go for the 40 odd yards needed for a field goal. This is precisely the fear all Broncos fans had- the late season choke that has plagued them ever since Elway. Last year we were delighted to make the playoffs for the first time in ages, but this year this is a team that should be making the super bowl.

Bad performance at the wrong time.

Holy shit, what a game! Giving up those two special teams td's and letting Manning move the ball down the field with ease on some of the drives made it look like the Ravens would be screwed but somehow they managed to fight through it and pull this victory out of their asses. So glad to have Tucker this year instead of Cundiff.

We're not having this conversation again, Ohio State will not be in the title game next year, period. Braxton is still not an accurate QB and has been injury prone. Not only that, all the pressure will now be on them to get there, and if they don't, then the season is a failure, and we all know that the Buckeyes can't handle pressure that well. They went 12-0 last year, but they had nothing to play for, no matter what they want to say. {Easy mode} Now in the 2013 season, they will be playing on All-Madden mode, and they will be exposed.

Anyways, I dare say that the Ravens-Broncos game was an instant classic, high scoring, excellent QB play, double OT, the whole nine yards. It's too bad that neither team bothered to play any defense until the end, and I've been lied to by the Broncos about their defense. {more specifically, their secondary} Although Manning didn't exactly did them any favors turning the ball over 3 times, the worst being late in the first OT.

Damn I hope I don't go 0-4 but it migth happen. Will see tho, I think Hawks and Pats still win. I had my Beard going for good luck but both the teams I picked to win today lost, so I shaved my Beard off so Hawks and Pats will win!

I'm not sure you have been lied to if after 16 games you've given up the fewest deep plays of any team. Every other time I've seen the Broncos this season the secondary has been incredible, allowing Miller to make sacks as the QB is forced to hold onto the ball with no open receivers. Last night they just completely choked on the big stage, and amazingly Champ Bailey, serial pro bowler, most of all. Compound that with Manning's worst display since losing to the Falcons in week 3...

It felt like watching the Broncos shock the Steelers last year, just on the other end of the result. One team seriously under performing, the other launching deep plays again and again to steal the result. What it does mean is the Patriots now have an easier road to the super bowl, and that just compounds the depression I'm feeling as a Broncos fan. Please, anyone but them to win it this year...

Why do I have this feeling that the 49ers match up great against the Atlanta Falcons?

Looks like Falcons are getting over that one and done slump. Congrats to Falcons fans, but I don't think your team matches up against 49ers so well. I'll be rooting for you guys to beat the 49ers. Atlanta Falcons and Matt Ryan please win your first Super Bowl! Atlanta Falcons fans deserve it!

Why are Seahawks playing so pathetically like they don't even deserve to be in the Playoffs?

They don't. They're a scrub team that can't play on the road unless the odds are stacked in their favor.

You seem to be telling the truth. If RG3 wasn't hurt last week, I have a sneaky suspicion that Redskins would have put a similar beatdown on the Hawks.

27-21 ATL mid 4th. Just a handful of plays including a pick thrown from Ryan has really changed the game.
Must have been some halftime speech from Carroll.

Pffft, what a game. Would have been amazing for another hail mary miracle, but not to be this time. Seahawks are going to be dangerous in the future though, young team.

Falcons have the monkey off their backs, but the 49ers look very very good. Smells like a Patriots 49ers super bowl at the moment.

Congrats to Matt Ryan and the Atlanta falcons, but Matt Ryan has to stop turning the football over agreed?

He almost cost them that game by energizing the Seahawks back to life. If he turns it over against the 49ers it will be a wrap!

I want the Falcons to win which is my Heart, but my Brain says 49ers/Pats Super Bowl. I just don't trust Matt Ryan. I love the Philly Boy but if he turns the football over against 49ers he and the Atlanta Falcons will lose the game. If Matt Ryan does not turn the football over I think they beat the 49ers in a competitive game.

What holding are they talking about? Did the Officials just help out the Pats?

They showed a replay but it wasn't a good camera angle, they showed an overhead view and I couldn't see any holding... What the heck?
