I gave you a super-step-by-step guide to all the things you needed to do, man... including which cells (or columns) to highlight and what to do with them... right down to exactly how many times you have to do this or that... and the sorting is what trips you up? Mmmmannnn...

you just gotta select the cells in all the rows you want to sort by VP... and all the cells that intersect those rows in the COLUMNS that I specified (all the columns of the list EXCEPT for the first few... don't sort the "output" column A, nor columns B or C... I believe column D is where you start sorting from there all the way to the right. Or maybe it's E. Whatever, I already typed that all up for you. O_o

Once you hit ctrl-D after selecting the proper area, all you have to do is tell it to sort DESCENDING (i.e. from the highest number to the lowest) according to the COLUMN WITH THE MOST RECENT VOTING POWERS IN IT. And then hit enter.

Boom.

If you still need more help than my e-mail + this post have provided... I dunno, man. I could try to talk you through it on the phone, but that would:

A) be really scary.
B) involve either me giving you my apartment or cell phone number...
C) or me calling you with either of those phones and possibly revealing the number anyway via teh lameness that is caller-ID.

If necessary (like you've totally fucked up the file by now and didn't save a backup first), I can e-mail you the file again... or maybe you didn't delete the attachment in your e-mail program yet? Well, since I don't have to go to work today or go to school either, I thought it would be a good idea to update this list, first of all let me start by telling you that I spent a lot of time on this, so comments will be very much appreciated. In all seriousness, I'm not too worried anymore, now that I know only you are going to pass me anytime soon. Sure, if Narcissus or HAQnSPITT or innphernoe (high exp users I've passed in the last few months to get to where I am now) start ranking up all of a sudden, I'm in trouble. But it'd only be losing spots I'd gained by passing them in the first place, not losing spots to people I've NEVER been behind in VP, yanno?

Stupid old me forgot to check that all tags were correctly placed, apparently I forgot to close some tags, so everyone from rank #29 and below were bolded, it really was a headache because I spent so much time on it, and I was too tired to check evey single tag to find out which one I was looking for, I had tons! so I asked a mod (not really asked, just posted and prayed someone saw it before makeing me look like an idiot :P) to deleted so I could look at it with a more rested mind the next day.

The next day I did checked what I did wrong, turns out that I forgot to close one of _lightnig_'s tags :P.

Heh heh. You were probably thinking "version 2... but this is really just version 1 being reposted, so... 1.2!" when 1.1 is how teh anal people such as myself would have numbered it. But then again, I don't really care too much for computer-program-esque naming conventions.

You'll note that none of my lists have ever been numbered that way. I prefer either a date, a straightforward iteration number (1, 2, 3)... or, the method I've used for my pentalist. Roman numeral style mixed with military "version" term (mark).

If you don't remember, back 10 pages or so in this topic, when I posted the final update in March (not the little miniupdate I did on May 31st)... i.e. the one AFTER the top 500 the week before when I just posted a top 100 and then the 101-200 range as well... THAT update... anyway, in that update I did show stats on the top 100 and so forth from the beginning of the list to the top 500 era's start to the top 500's end. And showing THOSE kind of stats was SOMEwhat similar to making a "super update that ranges from the first to the last updates."

Except of course that it didn't show +/- x.xx VP numbers for everyone on the list.

The problem is that most of the people in the final top 500 weren't even ON the list back when I started the list (and even fewer back when Newgrundling did). I have all the VP data from every single one of my updates and every single one of Newgrundling's updates... but there's tons of holes in it from people weren't on the spreadsheet from the very beginning. Kinda like this:

Each x is a simulation of one update's VP number for ONE NG user. And as you can see, some of those rows in the spreadsheet stretch back in time (to the right) much further than others do. In this example, only TWO people have chains of data that go back the furthest, and thus if I compared the current update to the first one, only those two would actually have complete VP change info. I could do the best I could for the other people (show their complete change since they were added to the list), but that means that someone on the list the entire time might have a +5.20 VP and someone who was only on it for a few months (the xxxxxx guy in this case) would only have +0.50 VP or something, through no fault of his own.

Um... so yeah. I'm sure there's tons of cool stuff I could do with all that Newgrundling + gfoxcook VP List era data I have, but I don't have the time to do much with it that wouldn't be messed up from the start by problems like the one I just mentioned, anyway.

Actually it might be the next rank which is very close. I am getting some easy saves from clock day to help keep the gap on Inny. I am at 9.48 so the gold leaf should bring it to 9.62

Soon in 3 years I would feel proud that 99.99999% of the users probaly will never reach there but impatient because it takes years to level up.
