I was watching that day and noticed the intermission was running a little long. Missed the first 3 game minutes of OT :'(

You guys are lucky, you actually get Versus, I'm like most everyone else who's to poor to get a satellite- I mean, if hockey games could at least be on ESPN2 everyonce in awhile, that would help the sport. But seriously, the bicycling channel? I've been only able to watch two or three playoff games this year >:(

That's because you live in Canada where the people love hockey. In America, the Preakness Pre-Race show is apparently in more demand (although I'm not hating the Preakness itself, but the unnecessary pregame show).

Oh they announced. The only problem was the only announced it once and Versus didn't cut to it till about five minutes later. I was freeking for so long until it finally changed to OT.

I meant beforehand. Most people don't watch the intermission report anyway.

The kicker was that Bill Clement was doing some kind of an update while OT had started and he didn't even mention that it was on versus. didn't give a reminder or anything.

NBC really fucked up on that one.

It's official, Ducks are the Western Conference champs. YES! They better fuck Ottawa right in the asshole in the finals.

My prediction on the Stanley Cup Final Game:

Ottawa in 5-..wait nvm. jk

Really, THIS one WILL go down to the wire; common sense would know that this is an important series because whoever wins it gets Ol' Stanley. Ottawa really shocked Buffalo fans after knocking their team off in 5 games (some say it was the bad reffing that lead to this "catastrophe"). Anaheim recently knocked off Detroit in 6 with a win on home ice (and I might add, a very close one at it). How will this last series go down?

Ottawa clearly has a strong offense, with Alfredsson leading the way. The Ducks have Giguere to rely on to make the biggest saves of his career and possibly win the Conn Smythe trophy again. Emery on the other hand, has to shape up though. He may have 3 shutouts, all at home, but he can't keep giving up lousy goals at the last minute, especially on the road!

In conclusion, I'll add that Ottawa has an upper hand when it comes down to the penalty kill, which is a BIG factor when facing the Ducks. Chris Pronger could easily whip a shot from the blue line and nearly give Razor a heart attack (some sarcasm there). But so many Senators are brave enough to block the shots coming, that may also give them the upper hand. So my prediction will be that the Senators finally bring the cup home to the nation's capital of Canada since montreal in 1993. I say in 7.

Conn Smythe nominees:

Ottawa: Dany Heatly, Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza
Anaheim: J.S. Giguere, Teemu Selanne, Chris Pronger

Adding selanne nullfifies any analyzing you tried to do. Even selanne admits he's been far less than stellar. If you're going to throw a Duck forward into the mix it's got to be Pahlsson. Possibly Getzlaf too, if he has a giant finals.

But Selanne? Geez, no.

Also, the entire series will come down to if Moen-Pahlsson-Special Nieds along with Pronger's line or Scott's can SLOW down the sens top line, because when it comes down to it, the sens are essentially a one line team.

Should be exciting, looks like there's potential for some fisticuffs in there too.

I needed a third slot to make it even... XD But yeah Scott Neidermayer and the lineup can do just that the way you described it. I still think it's going down to the last game....

I really hope so, because Ottawa has one of the worst balances in the NHL. Their entire team depends on the Spezza, Heatley, Alfredsson trio. They are out for well more than half the game usually as well. Look at game 5 against the Sabres. Every single goal scored resulted from one of those 3 players. What a shocker! Not. Emery is average at best, and the defense is comprised of dirty hitting that never gets called on the penalty. Might as well call them the Ottawa Line 1.

I'd love to see the Avs resign Drury, but that's just a fantasy. He'll probably end up in a Red Wings jersey, knowing my luck

Your luck? Do you know what it would take for the Isles to sign Briere or Drury? oh man.

damn you Yashin, you and your two different-colored eyes and such

Also, this:

After not playing at all this past season, Brian Leetch has decided to call it a career. And what a career it was for the 10-time All-Star defenseman.

Leetch helped the New York Rangers end a 54-year championship drought, winning a Stanley Cup title with them in 1994 and earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP. He also was a two-time winner of the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman and won the Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year in 1988-89.

"I have been fortunate to be an NHL player since 1998," Leetch said in a statement. "I missed being in the NHL this past season, but believe it was the right time for me to stop playing."

Leetch, 39, played his last season with the Boston Bruins in 2005-06 after signing a one-year contract worth $4 million. He had five goals and 27 assists in 61 games.

One of only seven NHL defensemen with at least 1,000 points, Leetch recorded 247 goals and 781 assists for 1,028 points in 1,205 games. He spent more than 16 seasons with the Rangers before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in March 2004. The Norris Trophy winner in 1992 and 1997, Leetch notched five 20-goal seasons and one 100-point campaign and is second among U.S.-born defenseman in points, trailing only Phil Housley (1,232).

Oh how I'd love that. Realistically, they'll prolly let some other player go or hope for someone to take a dock in pay. He'll stay in Buffalo.

bullshit he will.

Briere is the one that said he'll take a discount to stay in Buffalo. Drury hasn't said anything. Mum's the word, he's gonna go for the big bucks because he's no regular-season performer by any means. He's a playoff guy and that's where he makes his $$$, and he'll be raking in the big bucks this offseason, be it with the Sabres or otherwise.

ATOMIC TERRORISTS PREDICTIONS! :D

im 12-2 in the fantasy pool so far :D ! Damn sharks and Canucks in 5 ruined me :(

Ottawa in 6 games

Ottawa has an amazing first line featuring a mad Alfie, point hungry Heatly and play maker Spezza. On top of an amazing 1st line comes an amazing defensive pairing : Volchenkov and Philips. Fisher and Vermette are also having great post seasons, even if its not on the scoresheet. The rest of the Sens are playing great as well, as Murray has all 4 lines rolling.

The Sens Powerplay is doing great and so is the penalty killing. Buffalo - the HIGHEST SCORING TEAM, could only score twice on the powerplay... both 5 on 3's.

Emery is playing very decent, though i think he'll have to step up just a little bit more. Though hes been playing solid,

Ducks have many weapons. The Cup hungry Neidermiers, expecially Rob, who was denied Stanley by his brother 4 years ago. Getzlaf, Selanne Pronger - They have all the weapons offensively and defensively.

Though don't forget, JS Giguere is posting amazing numbers - better then the time he won the Conn Smyth in the Ducks last final. He is a very technical goalie, meaning Ottawa is going to need pretty plays and dirty goals to score.

Both Ottawa and Anaheim's average height is 6'1", however the Ducks are a more physical team. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Im saying Ottawa in 6, and i'll be at the parade on Elgin street :D. Iv got tickets for game 3 and 6 :D :D :D :D :D!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stanleys coming home to Ottawa! Its Duck Hunting Season i say!

Any comments, just post :)

You are right about the power play and 1st line. But no offense, that's their only line as far as I'm concerned. Game 5 against Buffalo resulted in 3 goals....1 from each of them. They'll send that line out for more than half the game, and that's really the only line that produces anything.

And Emery is really subpar compared to Giguere.

I say (and hope) Ducks in 5.

ya but remember that the 2nd 3rd and 4th lines have combined for 16 posts these playoffs. that doesnt include the ones by the first line (check TSN for reference)

And Emery is really subpar compared to Giguere.

he hasnt had to be really good. remember, only 3 losses and i think all were by 1 goal.

I say (and hope) Ducks in 5.

lol you wish

HURRAH DUCKS! Looks like my prediction has been spot on at least for now. Ottowa just doesn't have a good enough goalie to withstand the Duck's offense. The Duck's defense has been playing well too. It probably would have been a blowout if not for all of the penalties.

Also, did anyone notice how absolutely horrible the guy they chose to sing the US anthem was? I was cringing through the whole song. Also, anyone else hear those drunken idiots shouting during the moment of silence? Fucking idiots.

They paired up Nieds and Prongs to shut down the spezz line. They played more tonight together, 5-on-5 than they had cumutively in any other other round.
Not to mention the Pahlsson line outscored the "Cash" line 1G, 1A to none ES tonight. beew.

Also, it must suck nuts for Ryan Miller to see his little brother in the finals. Still, I'm glad to have Drew there. Lowered the boom on a Sen to knock the puck free to Selanne, who tapped it over for an orgasmic shot by Mcdonald.
