If you look at Pittsburgh in my view you have some of the best players in the league. Now they have Sidney Crosby and next season they will have Evengi Malkin. If their star players like Gonchar and Palffy wouldn't have slacked so much they would have made a better run throughout the season at for Mark Reechi and John LeClair they had an okay season but not one oof those high caliber seasons the Penguins wanted.
The pens have sloppy goaltending, a poor defensive strategy and a major lack of teamwork.
Avs down in the series 3-0 :).
The Lupul quadruple lead the Ducks to their second OT victory of the playoffs.

Gutted.
The Sens staved off elimination tonight. The same cannot be said for the Avs.
The Ducks have eliminated Coops team and the team Canas and da_pope root for.
I hope san jose is next.
Wow. Anaheim just nuked Colorado. Those poor Avs had nothing going in this series whatsoever.
Which is great though, because now we get to watch the insane defense of Anaheim take on the insane offense in San Jose.

Actually, they lineup pretty evenly. I figurer the PP to be a nonfactor in San Jose since they're a very disciplined team. The Ducks GAA would be much lower without JS in net, since he gave up 3 goals on average when he played.
It's worth nothing that the sharks have had easier teams than the Ducks thus far in the playoffs.

The Sens only prolonged the inevitable. At least we were being realistic :P

Hmm, that would be interesting, to see all of our teams eliminated by one other team.

They deserved it, they've been a great force all year.
Comiserations to Edmonton, thye played with some real spirit and pushed Carolina to the end.
I'm already looking through the stats and trying to make decisions about my fantasy team for next year.
Thought we could all use an off-season bump

Wow thats incredible...
Bad news for gooch :( the Sharks aren't picking u;p Scott Thornton's contract option.
Also, the Ducks' name change was made official, along with shnazzy new jerseys.

Oh holy shit
Bert to the panthers for luongo.
Looks like the Canucks might do some damage this year.

Florida also picked up Auld and Anderson. It's too bad they traded Luongo, because they gave Olli that deal to try and keep him. Oh well.
------------------------------
To Calgary:
Alex Tanguay
To Colorado:
Jordan Leopold
2nd Rounder
Conditional '07 or '08 2nd Rounder
The inter-divisional trade is pretty surprising. The avs will have 8 chances to get burned by their second leading scorer from last season. This trade makes both teams much, much better though. The Flames have terrible offense and tanguay is a point a gamer.
The avs won't lose too much offense, because Svatos should be back and their prospect from the playoffs should step up. Plus, leopold is a young, puck moving defenseman.
-----------------------------
To Minnesota:
Pavel Dimetra
To Los Angeles:
Patrick O'Sullivan
1st Rounder
This seems like a big attempt at keeping Gaborik, but the injury prone Demitra won't help too greatly, especially with the stifling system the Wild play. I'm betting Gabby will be traded later in the year
----------------------------
To Toronto:
Andrew Raycroft
To Boston:
Tuukka Rask
Toronto need to make a lot more deals than this if they want to right the ship. Raycroft really underwhelmed last season. They should have gone after Gerber in free agency and kept their prospect.

Man oh man, the Northwest just keeps getting more and more competitive.

Well everyteam in the NW got better by draft day except for the Oilers.
Hah, Pronger wants out!

I don't see them getting to the playoffs next season.
Van had more wins this past season. Plus, rollie is getting a old, and with his regular seaosn play last season, they'd be happy to be a 50/50 team.
Also, the ducks' second round pick has the same first name as me. So... yeah.

*jaw drops* Well, that's given the Canucks what they were lacking last year: Goaltending. The Panthers could probably use someone like Betuzzi to stamp his authority on games, but will they have the goaltending now?
------------------------------
To Calgary:
Alex Tanguay
To Colorado:
Jordan Leopold
2nd Rounder
Conditional '07 or '08 2nd Rounder
*holds head in hands* Why do we always trade the talented players away? Drury, Morris and now Tanguay. Sure, we need the defense, but Tanguay is a big price to pay.
-----------------------------
To Minnesota:
Pavel Dimetra
To Los Angeles:
Patrick O'Sullivan
1st Rounder
Meh, Demitra is a decent player, who might add some pep to Minnesota. I'm not too hot on O'Sullivan though :S

Andrew Raycroft

Tuukka Rask
Again, a great goalie moves to a canadian team. Toronto have been searching for someone to take over from Eddie Belfour, because he's not going to have too many years left. I think they came out on top with this move. Coupled with a new head coach, they look like they are retooling for an assault on Ottawa's grip on their division.

Hell yeah, and it still doesn't look like we can win it :(

I really doubt AUld can hold the fort on the team that is consistently peppered. UNless of course they manage to get both pronger and Jovo
------------------------------
Also, Huet resigned with the Canadiens. and Judging from his regular season play and his performance in the playoff, they're a lock for the playoffs. He was paced to win the shutout award, if he'd only played the whole season.
I'm also wondering who will get Pronger, since it's clear he wants out, and everybody knows that. But how much will the oil get for a player that is clear he wants to leave? They'll probably get a little bit less than he's worth, which is unsettling with the amount of free agents they need to resign.

Plus you filled a division rivals most gapping whole.
The Flames have offense now. Hah.
East: Boston Bruins. O'Connell: Hey lets trade away the NHL MVP!!
Sullivan: Ok and lets trade Samsonov just to PISS ME OFF.
West: Edmonton Oilers. POOOR SAMMY

Exactly. Even those two would not be able to keep all the shots out.

This means that Aebischer is exposed as what he really shined in Colorado for being: a backup.

Pronger has the strength and the power to be one of the best defensemen in the league. Look for the big guns to go after him: Dallas, Detroit, NYR (maybe the Avs as well, but that's just probably me daydreaming

Hall of fame today.
I'm a bit sad that Bure didn't make it, he was a lightning quick skater whose every shift was as if his blades were paintbrushes, and he was painting a work of art each and every time he stepped on the frozen canvas.
He has a short career, but it was very influential on many players.

Well half of the shots on net for Florida are rebounds. Luongo has TERRIBLE rebound control. Like... Really bad.
Stop gloating, you cunt!
TANGUAY. YA!!!
:P
Did you guys hear about the Avs big cap problems?
They now have to pay bonuses to both Sakic and Blake. They have like 10 Million in cap space to sign 7 players.

Influential, but not as much so as a Jagr or a Roy.
Congratulations to Patrick Roy who will be inducted next season.

Yep, I'm shitting myself. We seems to be going backwards, but with some of the prospects we have, we might just spring a surprise or two that way.

Well, it should have a clue when the long time GM evacuated.
Even still, with Svatos, Liles, and that guy who showed up in the playoffs I see the avs as an upper-middle team, but not competing for the division title.
ah snap

I hope he busts just like every other Canuck goalie.
That place is almost as bad as Montreal when it comes to being a goalie graveyard.
