FUCK YEAH PENS!

I hope they can force a Game Seven and win the cup. After all this, they deserve it.

Shit happens, then you die. In his case, the two proved not to be mutually exclusive.

In my case, shit happens being the current state of affairs in the Finals. I don't really want either team to win, but there you go. Maybe we can turn things around next year with Tony Granato back behind the bench.

I stayed up real late last night to watch the game last night, since I've been a pens fan ever since I was a real little kid. I've also lived in Pittsburgh my whole life, so I'm real excited for the Pens. The goal with 30 seconds left, incredible. The look on the red wings fans' faces was simply priceless. They were all excited and thinking they were gonna win the cup, but then out of nowhere comes Maxime Talbot with 34 seconds and scores! Oh man, that was incredible. Then it went to triple overtime and we won it, with Sykora getting that huge game-winning goal. What I think was incredible was how Ryan Malone got a puck to the face, and then barely missing a shift. Unbelievable. And Fluery having 55 saves in one game!? Woah! Great game. I think the Pens are winning it all this year.

Don't hold it against the guy that he can't grow a proper playoff beard yet :P

So now I've got to put up with the Wings fans rubbing my nose in it for another 12 months. Fantastic.

at 46 years Chelios is the oldest Stanley Cup champion... I wonder if he'll try to break Gordie Howe's record at 51 years. If he has one more cup in him. That would be interesting to see.

I really thought he was going to retire about 4 years ago, but he keeps coming back for more. He must really love playing, as he's got plenty of money by now.

especially for the sports bar or two that he owns in the middle of detroit, even though that guy did get stabbed to death last year in one of them.

i'd be amazed if he played until the big five-oh, that's an amazing feat of longevity.

I'd be really impressed with that - he's a quality player and he can still throw the body around, even though he's watching these kids come into the game and play an entire career during his own.

Play until you either don't enjoy it or can't physically manage any more. I think his body will give out before his enthusiasm does.

Dominik Hasek is expected to announce his retirement, a person in the NHL told The Associated Press on Sunday night.

The Detroit Red Wings scheduled a news conference for Monday morning without revealing details. A person within the league, who requested anonymity because the announcement was Hasek's to make, said Hasek was expected to end his award-winning career.

Hasek leaves the NHL as one of the most important goaltenders the game has ever seen. From 1993 to 2001, The Dominator won six Vezina Trophies and became the first goalie to win consecutive Hart Trophies. He followed up his domination in the late 1990's by becoming the first European starting goaltender to win a Stanley Cup in 2002, setting a record with six shutouts in the playoffs.

I fell in love with Hasek back when he was with the Sabres. Sad to see him go, but he's had a hell of a career.

That's way too early to call. You might as well say that the Devil Rays will win the World Series in 3 years time.

Still, the Leafs have a new coach. Ron Wilson has the unenviable task of leading a team with little talent and high expectations back to the playoffs.

One question for you about these CRAZY predictions. Why?

You sound so convinced that the Rangers and Bruins will face off in the first round next year. Do you even know how the Playoff System works?!

K.

Philly are great if you're looking for a fight on the ice. Why else would they buy Derian Hatcher? San Jose are there, or there-abouts and they could do with 1 or 2 signings to carry them next term, because they were wanting in the playoffs.

By the way, Fuck is spelt with 4 letters, so F*** would have sufficed. It's said, not saided.

*****

I think that the Avs are still looking for a decent big defenseman to anchor the D and take a good 30+ minutes per game. Not sure if Adam Foote can still manage it, plus we've been missing Rob Blake since he went. Sort that and we might be able to contend again, if Jose brings his A game along, like he did from January onwards.

duhhhh nope what in the fuck is a playoff system? what kind of stupid ass question is that? The Rangers are a good team but i think the Pens will take first then the fuckin Habs, then the Rangers, and I'm predicting the Bruins finish 6th so the Bruins and Rangers will play each other. Can't a guy make predictions anymore without bein asked if he knows how the playoffs work?

It's a simple question, asking you if you understand that we've still got 1,230 regular season games of hockey to play before the playoffs are even set. Not to mention that silly season is barely a week old.

The Rangers are a good team but i think the Pens will take first then the fuckin Habs, then the Rangers, and I'm predicting the Bruins finish 6th so the Bruins and Rangers will play each other. Can't a guy make predictions anymore without bein asked if he knows how the playoffs work?

I'm not saying that you can't make prediction, but I am saying that maybe it's a little early to call, as there are far too many factors to take into consideration to make this prediction anywhere near accurate. If Crosby and Malkin have to sit the season out due to injuries or suspensions, then I don't really see the Pens making the playoffs, for example You may as well say "Call it a hunch, but I think that Phoenix will go all the way next year"

Why not come up with predictions about who is going to win each award, as that's the traditional thing that goes on in this thread at this time of year.

Is this a prediction for the 3009-3010 season?

At 6/10/08 08:31 PM, ponohockey30 wrote: bruins are getting better. 6th place next year and they'll make it to the second round beating the rangers

Riiiight up until Zdeno Chara gets impaled by a stick and Tim Thomas breakdances his way down the other end of the ice, accidentally breaking the femurs of Glen Murray and a recently-returned Patrice Bergeron and allowing Marcel Hossa to score the game-winner from behind his own goal, seconds before he's crushed to death by a rolling, breakdancing ball of Boston Bruins. just wait and see.
