He's a dirty player, but once again, biased because he took a cheap shot at Briere. Also, yea... I don't have 100 bucks to give away. I want my 100!
I think...I hate... dick.

He can certainly carry the team in the regular season, so let's see if he can do the same in the post season.

I've noticed how I'm about to do a 180 on a very similar Gretzky-Lemieux argument. Sid's got more talented players around him that Ovechkin and look what's happened. Sure the Pens are in the playoofs, but not solely down to Sid. Ovechkin could help the caps get into the playoffs, but mostly as a result of his own hard graft.

They've quietly gone about their business and are doing it well. Serious threat for the West this year.
Also, the Avs doubled up the Canucks last night. We're not guaranteed a playoff spot yet, but we've certainly got closer to that goal now. Milan Hejduk had 2 goals and an assist, while Peter Forsberg had 3 assists. If Hejduk can stay hot, Stastny will keep laying them off for him to score goals.

That's because Daniel Briere is a little bitch. ;]

COL 5-4 SO over EDM :(

Two reasons:
1) Joe Sakic has found his touch again. We didn't miss in the shootout
2) Jose Theodore has been trying out with the Colorado Rockies for their position of Shortstop. That save was sick - go and check it out!
*Dances*
It would be a great Battle of Alberta if Calgary were to play against Edmonton. That would be epic! Of course Calgary would win. But, Rollie. He's amazing. But most likely Detroit and the Ducks would kick both our asses Darksoldier....

Calgary would win? What...? Could you repeat that please.
Detroit always get eliminated in the playoffs...lol
Anaheim...for sure we'd lose.
you asked me to repeat the phrase. I was referring to if there was a Battle of Alberta FOR the Stanley Cup. oooohhh never mind. I momentarily forgot that it's East meets West in the Final Final (the actual series for the cup).
Ok I guess I mean, if Calgary were to play Edmonton, in a Semi Final game THAT would be the ultimate battle of Alberta.
Yea about Detroit. The funny thing is they play so well during the season, they're first, almost flawless, but BLOW it during the finals. How many times is Chellios going to get his heart broken. lol. Sometimes I want Detroit to win, just to give the guy a break. Like Oldest player in the NHL, his twilight years playing for a team that has managed to stay in the top 3 teams in the Western Conference, only to get eliminated.
Even more bizzare is Ovechkin leads the NHL scoring, yet his team is eliminated.

How are the Caps Eliminated from playoff contention? They are three points adrift of Philly, Boston and the Rangers, with three to play (4 for NYR) That's not out of the race, since Washington can get a maximum of 94 points.
I think that Washington is starting to build up a decent squad. Huet will be their #1 Goalie for a good few years and Ovechkin will lead them in scoring for a long while as well. I'm pretty certain that they won't win it all this year, but the run they have put together since the Huet trade has shown that they can do it.

The question being will he carry the Caps into the playoffs?
More importantly, the focus turns back to the Northwest tonight, with Colorado taking on Vancouver and Edmonton facing off against the Flames. These games could make or break a team's season. The Avs magic number for the playoffs is 1, but I'd like to think that we've still got a shot of winning the division... mathematically, at least.
Provided we win both our remaining games and Minnesota lose their remaining 3, we can still do it!

Skill no - you can't teach skill or improve it by the use of a drug. Confidence, yes. I'm not saying that he is using confidence enhancing drugs (Steroids) because there is no evidence to support that. You're just bitter because he doesn't wear your team's jersey.
Oh, and he also helped the Caps to within touching distance of the Canes, on top of the SouthEast. Good for him. Brooks Laich and Cristobal Huet deserve honourable mentions for their parts as well.
In other news, we've returned to the Playoffs! 4-2 over the Canucks and the Oilers slipped up against the Flames, allowing the Predators into the last playoff spot. Our current matchup is against the Wild, which could go either way, as can any of the 8 first round matchups.

Bitter? Hell no.
Kevin Lowe may be a bad manager but he would never be stupid to sign Ovechkin A.K.A Barry Bonds.

My sentiments exactly, well it's not as if Edmonton didn't try Dark, they gave their best... with injuries, they still managed to make it this far.

A bit of a Freudian slip there, because the way I interpret that sentence is that it would never be a stupid move to sign Alex Ovechkin.
And fuck off with the Bonds comparison, as AO doesn't have a grotesquely huge face, like a certain Mr. Bonds does.

I'd say it was comic timing, but there's nothing funny about Edmonton being knocked out. It's more of a "Meh, saw that coming" approach.

And if the Sharks fail, do you keep progressing through the teams until you end up with the cup champions by default?
When the Avs didn't make it last year, I watched as a neutral. It is possible and you can still enjoy it.

A) That's an extremely bad comparison.
B) Don't be pissed just because AO has nearly three times as many goals as the Oilers' leading goalscorer/25-year-old you gave up $21.25 million and your top three '08 draft picks for, has 23 more goals than your entire current first line (Nilsson-Cogliano-Gagner = 40), and has nearly as many goals as your top three goalscorers COMBINED (Hemsky + Horcoff + Penner = 64; Ovechkin = 63).
Don't worry though, there's always the 2009 draft to look forward to.

Ever get the feeling that Detroit plays too hard during the regular season? Maybe because their players have given so much (And because Zetterberg's injuries have shut him down before March usually) that they don't have the energy for a playoff push.
