Kovalchuk will end your life and take no prisoners doing so.

Also, ridin' dirty in first place for pretty much the entire year. Hope it lasts :\

Reports are Scott Niedermayer's set a personal date for his choice, and he's continued to stay in shape.
Word from the man himself if that he's started to amp up the intensity of his workouts.

Take that as you will.

Booyah bitches! Colorado is still one of the only two teams yet to be defeated at home.

We're on a comeback.

Well, you came up against a strong team and lost. The only potential weak link there was Theodore, but he kept a good game (Ghost of Jose past must have been in residence)

Gotta speculate to accumulate. I think that while this deal sends one of my premier forwards away, I've still got some damn good forwards in Zetterberg, Stastny, Drury and Hajduk. I seriously needed goaltending and if Pascal LeClaire can do this well in a BlueJackets uniform, maybe they aren't going to sink without trace, with Ken Hitchcock's 'Defense Preaching'

ESPN hockey analyst Barry Melrose apologized Tuesday for negative remarks about the area around the New Jersey Devils' new Prudential Center arena.

In a video segment posted on ESPN.com last week, Melrose described the recently opened arena as a "beautiful new building" but added, "Don't go outside if you have a wallet or anything else, because the area around the arena is just horrible."

He's right, though.

Got tickets tomorrow to Devils-Flyers, & I'm looking forward to seeing Marty get owned by Danny Briere and Co. Corporate box seats, too, apparently. Posh deal.

I wish I could get Isles tickets one of these days, but it's such a long ride out to the island. :(

Now we all know that it's far too early to be talking about end of season trophies yet. Let's at least save talk like that for the All-Star break.

Any ideas about All-Star selections? Aside from the obvious choices like Zetterberg, Crosby and Kovalchuk, of course

Patrice Bergeron still can't move his head. After three or four minutes of minimal activity, the 22-year old needs to sit and rest. Two weeks after he was slammed into the boards and suffered a broken nose and concussion, Bergeron is still dizzy and now his career could be in doubt.

According to Sportsnet.ca, Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli could not rule out that Bergeron would ever play again. Chiarelli made the comments after visiting with Bergeron.

Patrice Bergeron sat before the media on Thursday afternoon and talked about his experiences leading up to and since the October 27th injury that altered his career and kept him out of game action

The damn link is playing up, so that's all I've got on him at the moment. He's too good a player to just give up, that's for sure and he definately wants to play again.

For their eight games on FSNY, the Islanders are up spectacularly, from 0.07 percent of area homes last season at this point to 0.32.

The Rangers are up 102 percent on MSG compared to last year.

Those damn hockey-watchin' new yorkers.

More people get MSG on standard cable than who get FSNY & MSG on standard cable, so it would make sense. Plus, Henrik Lundqvist is beasting, even if the offense can't do anything half of the time.

The Islanders have been, are, and always will be the 2nd team in New York. The discrepancies in payroll, attendance, etc. would show that. I'm cool with that though. It might help overall if Wang gets this crazy new Lighthouse Project underway, as well as...you know...investing some serious cash in the team, like in defensively-minded defensemen that are actually skilled (I don't really count Brendan Witt in there, sorry)?

Wow, if the Avs could score more than 1 goal, I think we might be able to win a game. 3 losses, all with us scoring 1 goal in.

Makes my Fantasy team look really poor as well :(

MTL losing 3-0 to BUF is a shame but i like Buffalo. I feel their rebuilding after losing Briere and Drury.

I also hope EDM will rebuild soon.

hopefully by the season of 2009-2010

It's not as much rebuilding as their team is just underperforming this year offensively. Vanek had 43 goals last year, he has 6 through 21 games this year; Derek Roy had 63 points in 75 games last year, he has 17 in 21 this year; Connolly is on and off with injuries so his effectiveness is limited; Stafford and Paille are getting their first full seasons and are having trouble capturing lightning in a bottle like they did when they got playing time late last season; Afinogenov had 61 points in 53 games last year, and has just 8 in 21 games this year, playing on the 3rd and 4th lines; Pominville had 34 goals and 68 points last year, and has 5 and 15 so far, respectively; Kotalik is just not the player he was 2 seasons ago, and that's why he plays regularly on the 4th line; Adam Mair is not rallying his team with fights like he used to last year (128 PIMs last season, 13 this season), and the same with Andrew Peters (151, 100 and 125 PIMs the last three years with the Sabres, just 11 so far this year), and they don't have the leadership on defense of Teppo Numminen and Dmitri Kalinin, their two seasoned vets.

So i'd say it's a combination of offensive underperformance and lack of leadership for the young guys. The chemistry just isn't there without Danielle Briere and Chris Drury starting things, but I suppose that was to be expected; however, I wouldn't have thought it to this extent.

But with the Sens in your division, how much could you have expected this year, anyway? They look like the favorites to win the Stanley Cup thus far, imo, although it's very early.

When you take out two big pieces from last season's jigsaw, you're going to see some fall off. Granted, I wasn't expecting it to be this bad, but maybe I was giving too much credit to Vanek and Roy for their play and not enough to Briere and Drury.

I wouldn't go anywhere near trying to name a Stanley Cup champion. Not before New Year and the All Star Break. With those out of the way, the shakedown really begins for the haves and have nots.

Avs won and Milan Hejduk showed why he's still a good player - 1 goal, 2 assists, with Joe Sakic getting the Game Winner.

Who will be the Avs' leading scorer at the end of the year? My money is on Joe.
