Wow, I'm surprised at all the bitching about this game, I found it pretty easy and finished it in about an hour, absolutely nothing compared to the time devoted to many of the other medal games. It just takes a little patience.

For that double laser it is all in the timing. You can get onto the lowest block easily enough, just get underneath and jump straight up. Getting from left to right is tricky though. Wait for the LEFT HAND laser to pass you going downwards and jump exactly as it does so and you'll go right through the gap between them to the left. This does not work with the right hand laser as the time it takes to get across the other laser will hit you.

Repeat for the next jump from left to right, this time waiting for the right hand laser. From there it should be easy, so long as you time your jumps and are patient.

GENERAL TIP:

Never run and then jump. It is much easier to get the precision jumping right if you sidle right up to the edges of the platforms and then hit up and the direction simultaneously. Also be patient. There is no time limit so just watch the patterns from a safe spot until you can see a route through (especially important for the level with the single blocks and lasers going from left to right, as they move at different speeds and thus the timings change the longer you wait).

The good news is I still get the speed up to work!
The Bad news is I still can't get 7 hours straight to stay in front of my computer for this medal.

It seems like it has something to do with the exact amount of times you do it. Like if I do it 100 times, it doesn't speed up the clock at all. But then I do it 105 times and it goes at the full 7 hour speed. Those arent my exact numbers just arbitrary examples!
In conclusion if you do it 100/150/200 times and there is no speed change, just do it a few more times and try again!

I found that my best strategy was to jump as soon as the near laser passed going up. By the time you get in line with the far laser, it's passed you and you have plenty of time.

The hardest level for me on Shellac was 3/3 (I think), where there's what I assume are skulls bouncing up and down, one on either side. The timing between those and the bats was crazy.

Runes of Shalak Walkthrough

1/1 Collect the rings to progress- seriously, if you can't do this then give up now... (MEDAL: Start of an adventure)

1/2 Same again. Pro Tip: you can jump straight up through platforms. Use it wisely.

1/3 FIRST ENEMY: Spikes. No real point dying deliberately as you'll be killed a million times by them later anyway... Again, run, jump and collect those rings! Pro Tip: rather than running and jumping, sidle up to edges and hit up and direction simultaneously- this makes those tricky precision jumps much easier, and will be essential later.

1/4: Still easy...

1/5: Ensure you only jump when on the rectangles, dropping back down each time after collecting the rings. Still easy...

1/6: Still easy... Just avoid those ceiling spikes!

1/7: A touch more precision required, remember that the edges of platforms sometimes aren't safe to land on, so make sure you hit the middle!

1/8: Slightly harder. Make sure to take your time with any jumps around spikes. LEAVE THE BOTTOM RIGHT UNTIL LAST as you can't get back out from there (or at least it is tricky) and the portal appears right next to it.

1/9: A little trickier, but again just take your time and make sure you line up any tricky jumps.

1/10: RUN! SECOND ENEMY: water! MEDAL: My Saviour

2/1: THIRD ENEMY: bug thing. Just run to the right, drop down, and work your way back- the portal is back at the top anyway. With the bug, time your jump. Taking off as he approaches you. Then jump over him, land on the left edge of the platform, and proceed.

2/2: Same trick with the bugs, otherwise simple enough. Be careful not to land on the edges of platforms as you will just fall through.

2/3: This one can be a pain, be careful not to hit your head against bugs on the row above you. Otherwise just a bit of careful jumping to navigate your way backwards and forwards.

2/4: FOURTH ENEMY: Big bug (and as far as I remember the only one you'll see, so hit it now!). The trick here is to just run off to the left or right, without jumping. You'll land on the lower of the triangle of platforms. Then TIME your jump up to the third one to avoid hitting the bug in the middle. Do this on both sides, then drop to the bottom and climb back up.

I forget which level, I think it's 2/3, where there's the platform you start on in the middle, then below you is a shorter platform with a big bug, and below that is a square, and there's stuff on either side. As far as I can recall, this is the only level where that big bug appears, so you need to be sure you kill yourself on it before you beat the level. Also, to get past the bugs on squares, you want to jump when the bug is at the far side of the square from the side you're on. This will make sure it's away from you as you descend to the square below them.

Damn...I only have pictures of levels for instructions. The reason I didn't do a video was because some video walkthroughs just show gameplay, but do not give reasons for certain motions or strategies, so the viewer won't be able to replicate the same methods because they won't know the timing. The one I'm making tells the person what to do in the level shown.

These are all the different types of hazards you need to hit for the medal. I'm not sure if spikes going in each direction need to be hit, but I'd hit all four while playing it just to be safe (that means spikes coming out of the walls and the ceiling).

Don't bother trying to get the last medal in Runes of Shalak. So frustrating, and the medal turns out to be bugged. The other 4 work fine though.

I don't why you guys are all bitching, Runes of Shalak was mega easy.

And I had fun, even if it was old + repetitive.

The only thing I didn't like was how level 3/5, I.E. the last level, took me about a million tries before I was fast enough to win.

Whose saying it's a hard game? I've seen at least 3 comments so far about how the game is so easy, but who are you guys quoting?

it's just annoying and gets boring after a while.

The artists on newgrounds must be working hard so thats why there are not a lot of games with medals so why dont we help them be making medals for them using Medal Get! and then tell them how people can get the medal in the game also dont forget to give them your medal design.

It seems very buggy almost. The platforms are all actually much smaller than they look, which is very annoying. Towards the end, just about every jump requires your farthest/highest jump...just a bit repetitive and very frustrating. Plus the last medal is glitched, so my spending half an hour on the hardest levels was a waste of time.

Well, I just went through the trouble of getting every medal in one run in Shalak, but only to refresh my page and see that they're not there.

I swear I will kill someone if the medal system isn't fixed.
