Sorry about that, the link's kind of old. You can find Audacity here:

Lucky_Design posted this link in another thread. It's a list made by CyanBlue from www.actionscript.org and contains a list of around 500 threads relating AS.

Thanks to Acid-Rain (he credits BinjinPurge for originally telling him about it) for posting about this list of hundreds of useful links in a BBS thread recently. Most of the links are to tutorial sites (have fun going through them all ;)), but it also includes links to stuff like free email, forums, web hosts, templates, fonts, IM Programs and quite a few Anime sites among other things. This was originally written up and posted by Gez here:

What I'd like to see on NG is a more advanced tutorial on AS. Like how to make rain (I know how to do this), Grass, Randomizing, Indepth on Saving and Loading, Inventories etc. I haven't seen a single tutorial on NG that deals with these.

I have read some of the AS thread but you can only read so much before getting lost - theres so many pages and you can't search BBS. (Except using Ctrl+F on every page)

So an idea for anyone here - Please make a BIG tutorial (ULTIMATE TUTORIAL SIZE) on just actionscripting (with examples and - maybe downloads)

I forgot to mention that the Flash Help Section of Newgrounds has been completely updated. For those of you who haven't seen it already, it's kind of like a concise version of this list with some of the best tutorials on NG. Thanks to Tom, Denvish and anyone else who was involved in getting the new page up and going!

StealthBeast just posted this thread that contains some excellent advice for people just starting with Flash.

Advice to the Flash Newbies: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=261705

I keep seeing more and more different tutorial sites & links being posted, so soon enough (a month or so) I'll update the list once more.

Thanks again to everyone for their links, advice and all the work they have put into everything contained in this thread, and thanks to everyone for using it too. :)

i need a tutorial that teachs how to animate smoothly whenever i try to tween my characters it looks dodgey i also want to know how to get the effect that looks like u are panning across the screen like in the beggining of the real legend of zela2. i am an awsome drawer but my animating skills do me no justice and make all my movies look really dodge please help me!!!

What kind of software do u use for making flash videos?

Response to Newbs Flash Help: Tutorials 2005-06-19 09:19:34

About time for an update, methinks.

First, a tutorial and a BBS thread on how to animate a WALKING CYCLE in flash:

Webmonkey - http://webmonkey.wired.com/web...monkey/02/05/index4a_meta.html
NG BBS - http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=258495

BBS threads, one on creating your own gradients the others on explosion:

GRADIENTS - http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=268353
EXPLOSIONS - http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=214320
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=196323
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=197161
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=194961
Don't forget that you can find more help with explosions in Tekno's Action Tutorial, Ultimate Tutorial 1/2 and JackSmack's Animating FX tut posted elsewhere in the thread.

This next site has a number of FREE FLASH VIDEO TUTORIALS created by MickBritt55.

Renaegade (ReNaeNae's site) - http://www.renaegade.com/mickVids/

More tutorial sites on various things:

Flash Filmmaker - (ANIMATION esp. MOVEMENT) - http://www.flashfilmmaker.com/index.php?id=43,84,0,0,1,0
Old Hick Productions (ohp-kyle's site) - (AS (GAMES) INCLUDING OPEN SOURCE) - http://www.wqhosting.com/~ohpkyle/

This link is to a list of ANIMATION BOOKS. Books are a great way to learn how to animate, in a lot of cases better than watching tutorials. My personal favourite is The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams (2nd down in the list). I've also heard good things about Preston Blair's book 'Animation'. You should check them out at one of your local bookstores or even a library if they have any copies.

Moovemedia Animation Book list - http://www.moovemedia.com/books/animation/index.html

The next site is the home to a number of tutorials on how to DRAW REALISTICALLY IN FLASH. The tuts cover drawing things such as animals, furniture, vegetables, metallic objects, 3D text and a whole lot more. They're all open source so you get to see every step of the drawing right there in Flash window. The tuts are even compatible with Flash 5, I was pretty impressed with that. :)

http://www.vectorkid.com/tutorials.html

Lastly, here are a number of new (well, newish) tutorials that have come through the portal:

Old film sim tutorial by neoMonk. To give your movie that OLD B&W MOVIE style appearance. - http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=220403
Gaming Tutorial v1.2 by Milkshake Clock. Includes SCORING & CHEAT PROOFING. - http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/235512
3D in Flash MX tutorial by -Aztec-. An interesting 3D CUBE EFFECT. - http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/223621
The Big Fat Tutorial by Helbereth & Neophyte_Ronin. A huge animation tutorial covering BACKGROUND ART (scenery), MOTION GUIDES, MASKING, RAIN, COMPOSITION and a few other things. Even if you think you already know how to do a lot of this stuff it's definately worth taking a look at. - http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/236757

*
That's about it for the moment. If there are any good tutorials that you know of that haven't been posted, or if you yourself have made a tutorial that isn't here, go ahead and post them.

Thanks for posting it. I don't know, I assume that the submit to collections option will one day have tutorials listed (I don't think it does now, unless I missed something) and when it does there might be a chance that if enough people view the tut it will be submitted to the tutorials page. But as it is this thread is just a resource and doesn't have that much to do with that page getting updated, other than Tom/Denvish/whoeverelsewasinvolvedinputtin
gthepagetogether viewing it on the odd occasion, as far as I know.

This tutorial was submitted by Ohls the other day. It covers stuff on AS, animation (fbf & tweening), point perspective, making a menu and a whole lot more.

I will update you AGH on how its coming along. Feel free to help make it with me and webmaster it....

Don't worry, people will run out of ideas before too long. ANyway, if you link to page=9999, that'll always have the updated list at the top (assuming I'm still alive and BBS-active)
