My Zelazny club was a colossal failure which means that either people here don't like literature or they don't like Zelazny. I hope they just don't like Zelazny and to check that theory I'm opening this club. If you have ever read a book for the pleasure in reading it and not because there is a movie based upon it you are welcome to discuss that book here.

I love that play! Did you read it in the original form? Just wondering.

Any other good books you've read?

Great two whole human beings! I can see this club becoming the largest one yet1

Wellcome

I've heard good thing about Winston, I didn't read any of his books though.

Say do you have any favorite authors? Mine are Zelazny, Asimov and Harrison.

Nope. Have you heard of the Foundation series by Asimov? It seems not many have.

I read the Foundation series years ago, so I don't remember a lot about it, but I do remember it being a good series. I'm still around, but I haven't seen this thread in a while. Probably it slipped off the front page before I logged on, so I missed the last few posts. I also enjoy the WOT series by Robert Jordan! I am currently on book 10, and it still doesn't look like he's going to finish this epic anytime soon!

Mostly they are about the two foundation that Hari Seldon set up in order to insure the rise of a new and better galactic empire. He was able to predict the fall of the current galactic empire using a science he developed (psychohistory) and the 30,000 year long dark ages that would precede the rise of a new empire that was likely to fall as well. He set up this two foundations in order to shorten the dark ages to mere 1,000 (or 10,000 can't remember) and make the new galactic ampire a strong and lasting one. The series tells about the way these two foundations worked to reach their goals. In the end of the series however the plot takes a very suprising twist, I won't tell you what it is.

Since he wrote the books not in the chronological order of events described in them it creates a lot of problems for those who wish to get the books. This is the chronological order of the books.

1 Prelude to Foundation
2 Forward the Foundation
3 Foundation
4 Foundation and Empire
5 Second Foundation
6 Foundation's Edge
7 Foundation and Earth

Hmmm, my book club died in two days :( I guess I'll join yours. My favorite authors are R.A. Salvatore, Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, Orson Scott Card, Brian Jacques, Iris Johansen and J.R.R. Tolkein. I just re-read all of Salvatore's books for the third time and I am currently reading "Time of the Twins" by Weis and Hickman. As you can probably tell, my favorite genre is fantasy.

Yes I have. It was a very hard read though. Eventually I just sat down one day and forced myself to read it. I was halfway through before I didn't have to force myself anymore. But it actually turned out to be one of the best books the I have ever read.

I think that is the problem with Tolkiens books. The long ones are always boring untill you get through half of them.
