Frustrating isn't fun

This game has a lot of things going for it. The problem is that having fun is not one of them. Like an earlier commentator posted, this game is not fun. The controls are lacking and are not intuitive and making game play even more frustrating.

Nice try, but even the creator thinks the game is very hard then you've got a problem.

The music is super awesome, seriously. But for the love of god, PLEASE make it numpad-friendly, or else do SOMETHING so that the up-down combined notes aren't finger-destroying. I dig the 'chords' thing, but up/down just does not work. DOES NOT.

It took me a bit to figure out what to do when two notes came from the left and right at the same time--a note in the instructions about that would be nice.

The note timing seems a little off, too, like you have to key in a bit early. Also, dropping the volume when a note is missed is diabolical and counterproductive--you are making it HARDER to recover, which is precisely the way to get people to hate your game.

It also merits mention that the color coding with regards to direction is nearly worthless, since the notes come in from so far away it's easy to tell which direction they are. What you should instead consider is using color to denote their place in the music with regard to the beats--this is one of the reason Dance Dance Revolution remains superior to its knockoffs; you can see whether something is on the beat or off the beat without waiting until it's too late to adjust your input.

Despite these things, I had fun playing it, but I had absolutely no desire to continue fighting against the mechanics to keep playing when I lost on the third song. You've got a good idea going, though, and I hope to see an improvement on the execution in the future.

great job

One of the best games i have ever played here on newgrounds. it is almost impossibly hard which is one of the biggest problems. a huge, huge, HUGE problem is that when you miss one it covers up practically the whole platform, mabye the background could flash red for a miss the bug jumping out is just a huge nuisance leading to even more misses. And you didnt include that you could hit two at once in your instructions.

I couldnt help noticing that your easy song is much MUCH harder than a song on guitar hero 2 on expert.

its alittle too short once you get the hang of it there should be a few more songs. and some of the songs just drag on and on like hyrule castle. once you think you have it u get hit by some ridiculous phase of beats.

the controls are a little touchy. the bugs have to be a little to close to the platform to be safe. u litterally have to wait just up to the last second and hit the bug. So the mallets could be just a LITTLE bigger.

So yea it was an excellent game. it could have been a little easier and you have a huge chance at winning the competition.

pretty hard... ok i mean REALLY REALLY REALLY pretty hard. but good job, i didnt relise u could have 2 mallets at once till i had to get 2 at once... but great gaem overall
