10/10? Nah, but it's not a bad game either...
There's a LOT of zombie defence games out there, so new submissions must bring something new to the table to separate itself from the slag of other attempts. So what does the Last Stand have going for it? The main feature I liked was the "Day-mode", which is simply a screen showing a checklist that allows you to choose between 3 options: Search for survivors, repair base, or search for weapons. You have 12 hours to do any combination of these options, and this I though was a nice addition to a stagnant genre. The "3500+ random zombie appearances" doesn't mean that you have that many completely different zombie templates, it just means that there is a pretty large selection of templates you'll see in game with different colored-clothing, skin, etc... The graphics are pretty good...not spectacular but quite adequate for a zombie-blasting game. The title screen is done especially well, I thought, it really sets the mood for a game called "the last stand". The gameplay is what everyone expects, there's not much new here except that the "survivors" you find become like automatic turrets that help you pick off enemies. The gun selection in this game is really standard, but the chainsaw addition really helps out against zombies getting too close to your "base". You don't move much in the game, as you're stuck behind a barricade with zombies coming at you from the left. This game makes you pick two guns you will use for the entire next level, which I didn't like at all, I thought it would have been better if you could change in game somehow. Sometimes you make a bad choice and end up paying for it. In summary, the game isn't all that exciting, but it is a solid game in its own right. But a perfect score? C'mon! As Maediis put it, "some reviewers...do not realize what it means that they think the game is *perfect.* "
