Reviews for "The Last Stand."

liar

i dont belive this is your firs flash, its so awsome, its nearly perfect
will be perfect when you fix the aim

note: if you do a last stand 2 put more weapons, more people, more days, and much more zombies

10/10? Nah, but it's not a bad game either...

There's a LOT of zombie defence games out there, so new submissions must bring something new to the table to separate itself from the slag of other attempts. So what does the Last Stand have going for it? The main feature I liked was the "Day-mode", which is simply a screen showing a checklist that allows you to choose between 3 options: Search for survivors, repair base, or search for weapons. You have 12 hours to do any combination of these options, and this I though was a nice addition to a stagnant genre. The "3500+ random zombie appearances" doesn't mean that you have that many completely different zombie templates, it just means that there is a pretty large selection of templates you'll see in game with different colored-clothing, skin, etc... The graphics are pretty good...not spectacular but quite adequate for a zombie-blasting game. The title screen is done especially well, I thought, it really sets the mood for a game called "the last stand". The gameplay is what everyone expects, there's not much new here except that the "survivors" you find become like automatic turrets that help you pick off enemies. The gun selection in this game is really standard, but the chainsaw addition really helps out against zombies getting too close to your "base". You don't move much in the game, as you're stuck behind a barricade with zombies coming at you from the left. This game makes you pick two guns you will use for the entire next level, which I didn't like at all, I thought it would have been better if you could change in game somehow. Sometimes you make a bad choice and end up paying for it. In summary, the game isn't all that exciting, but it is a solid game in its own right. But a perfect score? C'mon! As Maediis put it, "some reviewers...do not realize what it means that they think the game is *perfect.* "

hmmmm

It was cool but my gun quit shoooting on the 3rd night so you lost some points

A great game...

It's a great game, but it isn't perfect. I do feel that some reviewers who are giving a 10 / 10 review do not realize that it means that they think the game is *perfect.* Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest.

Anyway, it has alot of good qualities. I've been playing this game for a very long time now because it's one of the best of its genre. However, some of the aiming needs work. It's a little off, but even a little can make a very large difference.

The Good:

1) It's orginial. No other defense game has incorporated finding survivors and weapons like this before. Instead of zombies dropping gold coins to use to buy your weapons (which is crazy and doesn't really make any sense why you would be using something like that to buy weapons from your own store,) the weapon system makes the game more realistic.

2) It has a high replay value. I've been playing this game for months and it never really gets old for me. My favorite genre is defense games, and I have to say this is a shining example as to why I play defense games. It's definately in the top ten best defense games I've ever played. Finding survivors, getting cooler weapons each day, and the journal were a nice touch. In fact, I liked the game so much I would hit "play" before I could get the chance to read the next journal entry!

3) It's fun. Just plain fun. Blowing a zombie's head into pieces never really gets old. What's even better is that you can do that with plenty of different weapons, and it makes the game DIFFERENT. Typical defense games have a single shot weapon, an automatic weapon, maybe a sniper or an explosive but thats just about it. This game is definately sets itself apart from the rest.

The Bad: I hate to write whats bad about such a great game, but constructive criticism is needed.

1) The Aiming is Off: Title says it all. Nothing is more frustrating than aiming your weapon to blow a zombie's head into pieces but missing because of the system's aiming.

2) Chainsaw Glitches: The chainsaw can magically break, and it pisses me off when it does. If you switch weapons at the wrong time you will still hear the chainsaw noises but you won't be able to use it for the rest of the level.

So, my final rating is:
+2 for being orginial
+2 for graphics
+2 for weapon selection
+2 for replay value
+2 for storyline / plot / realism

-1 for chainsaw glitches
-1 for aiming

Overall, that gives you an 8 out of 10. It's a great game, and I salute you for all your hard work. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your work.
