Reviews for "Tau'ri : Bedrock"

At long last.

I've been waiting a long long time to see a game from you, I am somewhat of a secret fan of yours, I love to see your game engines and such posted on the bbs and some of your codes.

The game itself I thought was good fun and played it for quite awhile although it isn't really designed in a way to reach large audiences, not many will enjoy the slow paced physic related theme to the game although I thought it was quite fun.

The fact that you had those little notes in between levels I thought was cool and enjoyed, although I don't think many would think much of that either, however it was very you.

Overall I think the game had a particularly excellent engine although as far as game design and attraction to a widespread audience goes I don't know that it went so well. Either congratulations on the release of your first game and now perhaps you will start to look more into game design rather than actual coding, more playability should be your next step. Good piece none the less.

Also I was surprised that Mr. Every possible detail must be correct would make the crazy mistake of having single bodies of water leveling off at different heights. Surely you would know that one body of water's top will all level out at exactly the same height all over :P.
(I guess rules need to be bent to make a game interesting=D).

Good Work

dELtaluca responds:

thanks, as for you mr every possible detail.

i DID actually before starting this game, when working on a similar engine, i actually had all water being a soft body aswell, so that when the player's soft body moved through it, the water responded to the movement, so that when you crash into it it caused waves to explode out left and right, when moving near the surface you could alter the surface shape, and when throwing yourself out it caused waves to form aswell

but clearly it didn't run fast enough :p

Nice scripting

You did a great job with the engine - My guess is that you were inspired by Gumboy - Crazy Adventures but if I'm wrong and you've never played that game then you should definitely check it out. Although this wasn't a very original game, the execution was done very well. Again, great job on the programming you did well with the hit detection and the physics. The graphics could be a little prettier but that's something that you can easily take care of in a later version if you decide to pursue it. You're quite talented!

aha, very enjoyable. i love physics games!

i believe enjoyable is a perfect word for this game. It's not addictive, it's not buggy, it's not anything... it's just.... fun.. it just makes you happy to play.. it gives me joy to play it.. and not even joy in my pants! it is a grand huzzah thrice-forth!!

Seriously though, i do love this game. i have yet to beat it, but i hope it has a level select at the end. because if it does, it'd make the perfect "lunch break" style game! it feels like a storybook, and despite the entire game feeling quite a bit like Roco Loco, it never quite feels like the game 'directly'. it differs just enough to not feel like any sort of rip-off, yet still feel happily...familiar... theres another perfect word to describe it.

Really, i love it. i absolutely LOVE physics based games. and i particularly like games like this. Tri-Achnid is one of my all time favorite games, and this peaks it simply because it's so simple and fun. Tri-achnid was a better game (no offense intended), but it was more complex and serious. this game is simple, and just for fun, and for that alone it gets good marks.

4/5. i really like it. please do some more work! you have talent! this game is really.. enjoyable. (oh, and thats an 8.5/10 up there)

(PS: I love the dual physics engine you added, and the preloader could've kept me interested for a good 10 minutes before i got board or impatient)

dELtaluca responds:

thanks :) i hope you did remember the level codes though, there isn't a level select :X if not i can always send them other to you if you really want them all

great

Great game, only after level 4 was a little hard

looks nice

indeed, it looks nice, but it grows boring shortly
