Been done before
I hate people who just give abusive reviews that always seem to lack good advise, so rather than just saying "I HATE THIS GAME" (which, I do :) ) i'm going to give you my thoughts on it.
Firstly, I've seen this done too many times before - all with the same principles, and rubbish customisation of the base. There's never anything knew, perhaps slightly better graphics - but the AI remains as shit as ever.
What I'd do if I was making this game would be to add a little spice into the AI for a start, and then make it possible for the user to customise EVERYTHING - right down to the colour of their base.
I'm finding it hard not just to shout "I F**KING HATE THIS GAME - 'CAUSE IT'S SO DAMN DULL AND UNEVENTFUL" - but I won't :)
Nuh, seriously. It was quite a good game, i quite enjoyed it - I just don't get what the hype is about.
Time killer
Well it killed about an hour.
By the end of day 40 (game completion) I had 100 Gunners, 100 Craftsmen and 100 Silo workers. I had all the guns, including the secret weapon, and 1000/1000 life. I also had 1049 bullets for my minigun, even though you only actually need 815 bullets to last a round without reloading.
Very good.
I enjoyed it alot and sometimes it good a little hard. But when I got to Day 26 I had the 'Old Glory' with 165 'clips' and it didn't even shoot anymore, don't know why.. Putting in a 'Save' would be handy too because if you loose after Day 30 and have to restart at Day 1 it's annoying. But overall: it's very good.

fun time waster. pretty much impossible to lose when u unlock the fist
