Could have been perfect!
This is easily one of the most sophisticated Flash games ever created! The presentation is complex and consistent, and the Flash could rival a well-made freeware "Tycoon" game. The McDonald's theme, as well as the game's personality, adds a lot of humor to a noticeably bleak portrayal of "Corporate America." The gameplay is fun and highly addictive, but players that get absorbed will find that there's no place to go but down.
McDonald's videogame is more about prolonging death than actually succeeding in the industry. The money system is extremely fragile, and the slightest imbalance could cause the entire corporation to go bankrupt in seconds. Therefore, despite the high chances of getting addicted to McDonald's videogame, the player will probably spend between 2 and 30 minutes per round before dying. For example, players that start slowly will find that "the growth is not sufficient!" However, attempts to increase business quickly result in a lack of cows or soy, even with 5 devoted pastures for each! Some minor changes and additions could have fixed these major issues.
Creating actual goals, similar to games like "Roller Coaster Tycoon," and allowing the player to progress and profit would have made McDonald's videogame the best Flash of 2006. However, a major flaw in the game's design prevents players from really appreciating an otherwise exceptional Flash. My suggestion would be to create a yearly goals system and simply making the system deep enough to allow some flexibility. Unless the game's trying to make a statement, such as "McDonald's will someday fall," there's no reason for an inevitable death each time. It's sad to see a great accomplishment ruined by such a huge flaw.
