Reviews for "Autumn Tree"

That was boring

The flash has this laid back pace which gives it a real disturbing feel considering the climax of the story. But it moved way too slowly. The animation was fine, nothing special, and the sound was passable. What really bothered me was the end. It portrayed the shooters as the evil that triumphs over good insted of two fucked up teens who were pushed over the brink. IM sure it was unintential, but it was still bothersome.

well that diddn't explain anything

i was expecting something much better, instead i see someone sitting round being sad and shit looking out a cloudy window while sappy piano music plays.

when the actual shooting starts i still know nothing abouth the two or what there motives were, you diddn't capture any of the horror or terror of the situation and the voices sucked as well.

Didn't think I wouldn't like it...

You see, while your art style is acceptable, and the pacing makes the movie feel more epic than it already is, I have read quite a bit about the Columbine massacre, and there were 4 mistakes that I noted that were jarring enough to garner attention for me.

#1: While the pipebombs did have "VoDKa Vengeance" written on them, it was only partially because it was Klebold's favorite drink. The capitalized "DK" stands for Klebold's initials, and it doesn't make sense to keep them there when the character's name is Alex.

#2: In no account of the events have I heard Klebold tell Bruce Brown to fuck off; in fact, he specifically told Brown to go home, no cursing involved.

#3: No shots were fired before the killers entered the school. If they had done that, they would have alerted the students to the threat too early, and the fatality rate would probably be significantly lower.

#4: The teacher that was killed was busy herding the students to safe locations. He was wounded by one of the killers (I forget which one), and some of his students tried to save him (after they were sure that they were safe, too). He lasted for a few hours, then died.

Horrible tragedy; needed a fact-checker, though.

Not quite neutral

I know the piece wasn't intended to glorify them, but I still don't think it came off as neutral. The music (which I'd ordinarily enjoy) seemed overly reassuring and sympathetic while hateful and murderous plans were in the works. Maybe it's too heady a topic to take on in a single animation, but I think there was a lot of lost potential in depicting so many wasted lives (including the shooters) as a result of this environment. As it is, it sort of comes across like a love story (which I assume you didn't intend).

You dont understand either.

The cause of the attack wasnt because of what band they listened to, or what video games they played, what posters they had up, not even what movies they wached. These two boys killed 13 people, and injured many many more because they had been driven to mental instability by their fellow students. Its not like one of them was punched in the face once and he decided to kill everyone, they were constantly tormented, by almost everyone. You need to understand what it's like when everyone treats you like crap. Their parents only didnt understand what was going on because they never told them, and they werent happy about it, their mood in this movie is far too light, they did not enjoy doing what they did, at least they weren't in a good mood. They were extremely depressed, because, as i said earlier, they were tormented by almost everyone in the school. They killed themselves after the whole thing, I highly doubt they were in a good mood at the time.
