Reviews for "Autumn Tree"

Very Good

In all honesty, when I first learned what this submission was about, I turned away. I really hate stories about disasters and how terrible they are. The media only tries to focus on the people they can immeadiatly label as the vicitms, this, however, didn't do that.

This didn't show them as "badass" or anything like that, you could tell that they were subtly nervous, if they were trained they wouldn't have walked. I'm sincerely impressed at how you were able to express what they were feeling, their actions, their thoughts, as close as we can assume they would be, accurately. Nice job guys, nice job.

Sympathy comes forced

What happened at Colombine was a tragedy, yes. But I really don't feel too bad for the kids who died. I'm sure some of them had nothing to do with the killers, but knowing high school students of the day, I understand why these two boys were pushed over the edge. Murder is murder. However, it wouldn't have happened if people would just learn to have an open mind and accept others for who they are. I'm sickened by the way some of the students are treated in schools today. The tragedy at Colombine should be a wake-up call for anyone who has bullied, ignored, persecuted, or rejected others. We are all human, whether we're black, white, female, male, prep, goth, straight, gay, religous, or not.

Now that that's off my chest, great flash! The animation was good and I loved the music.

Certainly not bad...

...though, for having studied the shooting so in-depth, right down to the BMW, I figured you would have understood the motives of the two. Perhaps you were going for the mainstream view, in which they were bullied and constantly looked down upon by peers, or hell, in the Trenchcoat Mafia, simply so it applied to most people's view of the incident. Regardless of what you stated in the description:

Just to point it out--both Eric and Dylan were fairly popular students, and they had no targets. Yes, they made a list of the people they hated, but only one of them was injured. Eric was most likely the driving force, seeing how he is was a clinical psychopath. Dylan was simply the stereotypical depressed teen. The suicide note is a fake--in Eric's journal he explicitly states not to blame anyone for what they did: not his parents, not Doom (which he often played, and even made a few levels that are still running around), not the parents of other students--nobody. They were out for death and destruction, plain and simple.

In most respects this is an extremely good flash. I have some qualms with the fact they you consider it truly factual, but whatever, it's not all that important. Clean artwork, a good script going to the very heart of an extremely controversial incident yet not demeaning it whatsoever--overall, very compelling. Nice work.

Great work

I liked the theme, and how you portrayed it. Anyways, good job on the flash.

...this is ...kinda creepy, but...

those two guys and myself... were not all that different. although can't bring myself to harm another living being, human or otherwise; and i do have a belief in a higher being. this movie made me feel empathetic, because i have experienced similar abuse and i have always felt like i never fit in like everyone else. and it's that reason this movie made me feel a little creepy inside. a facet of the tradgey of columbine that ive never seen, nor was prepared for...
