Nice Flash, but ignored other problems

It was a great flash, and represented some of the factors that persuaded them:

I don't think you really understand the depth of the problem. It wasn't merely bullying or being socially outcast that made this happen. I say this because I grew up in the same social torture chamber.

There's several things to consider:

First of all, their parents didn't have a clue what they were doing, so it's likely that their parents didn't play a role in their lives.

Second, there was a cycle going, they felt alone, so they chose to dress and act in ways that further isolated them. So they were outcasted more, and then retaliated by acting in ways that would further isolate them. They responded with their anger.

Next, if it were just bullying and whatnot that caused the problem, why did they seem to target people that had no direct negative impact. Such people like the christian girl, etc. It's because they had a problem with themselves and displaced that problem onto people that really didn't do anything to them. It was a displacement issue, not a bullying one.

Finally, people need to realize that they won't always be accepted wholly by every single person. It's not always discrimination, because it may be just a lack of common interest. I'm totally fine with having some close friends that understand me, and having most people just say hey or something or even not notice me. There's a difference between direct discrimination and indirect lack of common interest. What did they want, for every single person to stop and say hi to them? I mean, it's pretty obvious that they had friends, because they had select people that they chose to spare.

It just ticks me off when people run around saying, "Oh they were bullied, pity them." Or when they say, "They were social outcasts, poor babies." I grew up with the same thing, and I didn't gun anyone down. A few fights maybe, but not shooting people. They MADE the decision.

that's so sad

I'm not going to hate on you about this. It's really sad what happened to those kids, the ones that were killed and the ones causing it. Honestly I don't know what drove them to do such things, bu t if people actually think about the way teenagers treat each other for their indifferances they might have a clue. Even teachers and parents treat kids horrible for the way they are. Being gay, not believing in god, stuff like that, if you don't fit into their world you're automatically and outcast and nothing. I understand they may have gone through rough times, but I dont' get what drove them to murder. I dunno if we'd ever know. I know what it's like to be tortured and treated horribly by kids in hs.

I dunno if we can fully blame parents for our childrens actions. But they are apart of it as well. If they don't bring them up right or shelter them from everything it can cause severe pyschological issues, not always but it can. I think parents do need to start paying attention to their kids when something is wrong. Kids wont' admit it, but they always find ways to show you. But most parents that i've seen just ignore it. They think they are okay if they don't talk to them. Children that are abused can end up like those kids.

not bad

i dont really know what happened in Columbine... it happened when i was still in elementary or 1st year middle something like that.. which is crazy. Its interesting how you tried to get in their minds ( iguess).
