Reviews for "Battle for Gondor"

Wow, this game is great!

When I started playing this game and saw it was from "Games of Gondor" I though it wouldn't be that great (sorry about that), but when I got on the battlefield, I was suprised. This game was really fun, I especially liked how you could also hire people while killing yourself. I encountered a glich I'm sure someone else pointed out, though. My guys were in a big dogpile with an enemy archer and they kept attacking but nobody was dying. I waited like, 2 minutes before I had to restart =(. I'm still stuck on lv.11 and I hate this demon guy! he's too uber ownage for me to kill! I know, I suck.. Anyways, good job I really enjoyed the game.

hmm

I don't think you need much skills to play the game...
Just, slay the peons and buy troops... Bit simple, but fun nonetheless.
Though, level 11... I tried it about 4 times, and don't seem to be able to get past it... I think the difficulty of the game suddenly skyrocketed at that stage (or maybe I am wrong about the little skills required).
Anyways, the graphics are pretty nice & cute. It is also something I've never seen before, so extra points for originality... nice sfx.. lots of violence and screaming...
Yup, excellent flashgame
5/5

good...but

i like it fine but am i the only one who can't move the whole screen did u do that on purpose so u can't take all the kills or sumtin
or is my comp just messed up

No Depth

The flaw hands down for this flash game is simply depth. While it exceeds in graphic and sound quality, this is not a game in which you'll find yourself hard pressed making quick decisions and hard choices.

The game is set up like so. You play as some unnamed hero who's supposed to lead an army that never exceeds 20 units. The gameplay is simple, too simple. All your troops move in one straight line on the battlefield and proceed to kill anything the orcs are sending. All the fighting takes place on that one line. But what does your hero do the entire time this takes place? Said unnamed hero stays on the upper area of the screen and kills wandering peons. That's it, he never fights at all in the entire game minus the final level (which is laughably easy).

But how do you get more troops? Every kill from your troops gives you gold which you can use to get more troops. Of course, you can only get a certain number of a type of troop. You can never have more that 2 soldiers for example. Your only real difficulty is deciding whether you want the elf or the knight...

That's all there is to it. The only skill is seeing how fast you can click the little buttons to make more troops. The game all throughout is easy. The only difficulty comes around level 13 in which you fight tough "boss" units and only have a bunch of wimpy soldiers. Ultimately, this causes the game to be based more on luck in hoping that the movement of all the units will somehow allow them to stick together instead of streaming and getting killed.

The graphics and style are nice. No complaints here. The song gets a little repetive though. But no amount of graphics can change the gameplay.

Overall, there just doesn't seem to be enough in this game to make it feel like every level is a hard fight than can only be won through skill and determination. The peon killing feels more like a chore rather than a game-turning event.

Asvergen you did it again :)

Very Cool Game!!!!

You did it again, it's tweaked to perfection, nice RTS style and nice action whilst playing :D
