Good
It was good, but you REALLY need to fix all those typos, it was so bad it was getting hard to read.
Its not like anyone on Newgrounds is English you know... And why do you give me a 6 because of those typo's? As long as you can understrand all of it.
Not bad but...
This is a useful tutorial. Kudos to you on putting so much of this together. One thing that drove me crazy about it though... <3 does not mean own. I <3 j00 isn't i own you, that's like saying :D means email or 8===D~ means grandmother!! Other than that, a couple grammar issues, and the music, not too shabby.
WHY DOES EVERYONE HAS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE NEWGROUNDS SECTION, THATS THE NOT EVEN THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IN THE TUTORIAL
..
I'm going to give you a few tips on things I've learned in the 7 years I've been designing and I don't mean any offense in any of them;
·Proper punctuation - Easier reading material
·Proper spelling - Same as above
·Color balance - Try to avoid more than 4 (main) colors, use differen't shades of the main colors to make it more eye-appealing rather than the over-ruling fluorescent colors you're using now. It gets very sore on the eyes after a while.
·Know what you're talking about. That "Manga" thing you referred to was actually something called Anime, completelyt different style(You can tell the difference by the size of the eyes etc.)
·Avoid auto-playing music, not everyone shares the same taste in music as you do
·Don't call yourselves a designer when you're just getting your feet wet, lets say 5 years from now you're still photoshopping/flashing and someone comes up to you with some of your (then) old work. Nobody would want to be your client if they didn't know what they could expect of you.
I'm going to give you a 5 and vote 4 because I can see you've put effort into it, to me that's worth more than the outcome of the actual item.
Cheers
Thanks for the nice and informative review.
Impressive, but mainly for noobs.
I found the claymation bit fairly informative, not having done that stuff before and not having made much of an effort to learn how.
Well, maybe when I have money spare for a web-cam I'll give it a shot. I don't fancy using my digital camera and having to set up a batch process to resize/resave all the pictures before having to spread them across the timeline. Actually, now I think about it, it's still not much work compared to fbf...
Anyway, some bits of code seemed useful and the NG-specific bit was a nice tribute.
However, your buttons were a bit horrible with the hit-box, making me lose a bit of faith in your teachings and it would have been nice if you'd actually tried to explain the AS a bit more fully.
You should really specify version numbers more clearly for the programs. And whilst you do cover a lot of material, most of it hasn't got as much depth as I'd like.
It remains, however, useful to any relative newcomers. And for a free resource, supplied the way it is (as a flash file), it seems to stand head and shoulders above its peers.
I used the same next buttons everywhere in the tutorial. And they only bug in the Flash Tutorial. So i dont really know what it is and how to fix it. Its kinda awkward
