Maya 6.5. And cant say i know what anti-aliasing is.... : (
Anti Aliasing is what makes the edges not look pixelated. For a quick way to clean up your render a little bit, when you go to the render view, you'll see an icon in like the middle of it that is like the render button but is like more white or something... this will bring you to the "Render Global Settings," all the settings for rendering. Click the Maya Software tab near the top, and then in the settings there change the preset quality from preview to production.
Looks like that character could be really awesome if you render him out a little cleaner with some better lighting.
Yah, it was a fast render. i will see what i can do about lighting and such. I will post some more pics soon.
Mmk. I would suggest you get acquainted with mental ray, and experiment with global illumination renders to get hyper realistic lighting and soft shadows.
And i have been meanign to talk to you. I need to know how to move around the points in the graph editor. cant seem to find the buttons....
How to move them? Well, you have to be in the move tool to change the tangents, and then if you want to just move the actual little dots, use the middle mouse button and move them.
If you just want to move them in one axis (like right/left or up/down rather than both axes), hols shift and then middle mouse button drag.
You know about digitaltutors.com right? They have a boatload of free helpful tutorials for maya. I suggest you get the maya basics DVD, unless you're confident in your fundamental skills. Then move on to a more advanced DVD to help your rendering skills.
Here's a really basic one on using the hypershade to create shaders for your objects:
