I feel you on that. With both AS: Main and the BP 51+ lists, although I haven't maintained them for anything like the lifetime of this thread, it ends up being an unwanted strain on spare time. Particularly when squeezing updates into a full-time employment schedule (ie, the few hours you have on the weekends/evenings you get after having dealt with other obligations like mowing the garden, fixing the car, or whatever), the enjoyment you get out of pulling the stuff into an organised and presentable form wanes, until you start to resent it eating into leisure time.

Or maybe that's just me being selfish.

Save average is way up from 10583 to 11053 (:::tears of happiness well up:::) and the save percentage is up from 21.75% to 22.51%. In short, Elfer is off crying sad tears of outrage because he knows that even if he does make this list... he ain't gonna tip the scales all that far in the no-saves-having direction. Us saviours outweight him, even if he was only bringing 1 save to the mix (and he's bringing a few hundred, I believe). So... THERE, Elfer. #;-}>

I know you all were probably beginning to think gfox had forsaken ya, the list, his own listmakery promises, etc... but no, he did actually work on the list on Thanksgiving weekend. Didn't get anywhere near far enough though it was helpful to start then... so he started another fresh data pull from the top of the list down on 11/30, ended up using that as the update date (all exp amounts are from that date or are estimated to that date based on... uh... best-guess reasoning for data pulled long after 11/30)... so, got like 100 people pulled on that day, 100 more a few days later, 100-200 more in the past few days (I took a four day weekend to use up the last of my time off for 2006 at work). Numbers are a bit skewed (the lower down you are, the more time you had to get extra b/p and posts before your data was pulled, though not exp, like I said) as a result, but I hope to do a mass pull over a one or two day period around New Year's Eve for the final update, and hopefully that'll fix any inaccuracies and injustices at that point.

Seven asterisks on the LLL this time. Sorry about that, folks, but I reckon the LLL is broken for good now (not to mention swollen beyond belief and needing two posts now). Good thing it's not going to be of much use much longer, anyway. Enjoy both lists, yo!

Maybe so, but the saveness is only getting more and more strong with each update. Seems like the portal is providing a lot of saves. I wouldn't know, as I haven't even voted with my alt since like early November, but... that's what seems to be the case from the evidence. Then again, maybe 140 of the most 1337 NG users don't exactly represent the average NG's blam/save balance, so...

Oh, my quest for 100k isn't really unlikely, man. In fact, getting to 100k total points is actually going to be easier for me to do than getting to 10,000 posts. Why? Because all I have to do is never stop depositing exp.

Sure it'll take years, but it'll happen. If I'd post a fair amount, then both goals would be achievable a lot faster, though. So that's the way to go.

I'm playing FF3 on my DS while playing FF12 on the PS2. I have V and VI for the GBA now, too, but no time for that now. Once I finish 3 for teh DS I'll start pluggin' in those GBA FFs into my DS and going at 'em!

It may just very well be one of the best console games ever made, yes. Not sure about best game ever, though. It's up there all right.

I love the gameplay. Have very few complaints with the game of any substance. I hope you'll like it, too. Just don't go in thinking it's the best ever, you're most likely to be disappointed then.

Just know that I love FF1, 3, 4, and 6 above all FFs... and this FF has trumped them all. To me, it is the best FF ever in terms of gameplay/plot.

It's hard to measure up to the greatness that was 4-5-6 on the SNES. I got a PSX just for FF7, and while it was great, to me it was... eh... lacking in the plot/character department, the gameplay was good but not amazingly great... too focussed on side quests and impossible things like the Emerald Weapon and stuff like that...

The world map/towns/etc. were great, though. I did love that about it.

I think I also downrank it because sooooo many people got into FF because of 7 (including my girlfriend, it was her first), and I think it's just a bit too overrated because of those folks idolising it, so I like to even them out a bit.

7's right behind 9 on my list above, it's just not one of the ones I couldn't live without, which is what that list up there basically is.

As for 2... Yeah. But after making a game called Final Fantasy and then trying to make a sequel... I guess it was kinda tough to come out with something as good as #1. They didn't have to fuck up the gameplay as much as they did, though (to the point where having your own party members HITTING EACH OTHER being the best or only in some cases way to level up? WTF?).

Still, that makes the greatness that is FF3j all the more amazing. If you have a DS, 3 is awesome, man. Or just get the emulator version for the NES/famicon + translation patch, which is how I experienced and finished FF3 back in the 90s. Greatness.

I'd prefer they not. This was my baby from the start, and unlike the top 50 blam and top 50 save lists, there's no "natural place" for this list. Those fit in well with Dogma's EGRL... and the VP list wasn't mine to begin with, it was Captain Bob's and then Newgrundling's, and then it was mine and now it's been mostly Wylo's since I finished my run.

The quad/pentalist is.... uniquely gfox, and I'd prefer if people let it rest. Keep in mind I will be updating it again at least once more after 2006... when I hit 10,000 posts. So just root for that. #;-}>

DS = fun. My girlfriend got one as well, we were having so much fun with mine. So... nothing wrong with getting a console for one or two games as long as you find MORE games later on that you wouldn't have experienced otherwise.

I normally buy all the consoles I want on release date, though I won't bother with the PS3 because Sony are just taking the piss with the price.

Sony's losing 200+ bucks on each sale, so... it's not really their fault it's so high. Well it is, but it's all due to technology.

My gf has already beaten DoS, and she got PoR on the day it came out last week. She is soooo insane for the CV on DS. I haven't had a chance to play them much as she's basically playing the two CV games on her lil' pink DS every single day and no other games. Plus she takes them to work for breaks and lunch.

She's about as addicted to them as I am to FF12. Sadly, I can't take FF12 with me to work. But I can take FF3 and my DS!

Anyway, we've got FF3, FF4 and 5 (GBA), Dragon Quest Slime Rocket, Trauma Center, New Super Mario, Castlevania: DoS... and recently we added Castlevania: PoR, Mario 64, and Metroid Prime Hunters.

I personally think the greatest thing about my list is that going from 0->1->2->3->4->5x10k is the real challenge and beauty of it, not rankscaling.

Congrats, but I did the data pulling between 11/30 and 12/08 and you were within 100 of 10k saves but not there yet when I pulled your data (which was already far later than I pulled a lot of data of people already on the list, so you got a lot of extra days to add stats a bit unfairly, really).

Just hang on till then, it's not an issue of may you join... it's just an issue of when your new status will be reflected in an update. Maybe so, but the saveness is only getting more and more strong with each update. Seems like the portal is providing a lot of saves. I wouldn't know, as I haven't even voted with my alt since like early November, but... that's what seems to be the case from the evidence. Then again, maybe 140 of the most 1337 NG users don't exactly represent the average NG's blam/save balance, so...

Yes with b/p whores like pep, afro, donny, ramagi, wylo, rr and more getting 300-800 saves a week the average is going up and only up. Yes the portal is blessing us with the saves pretty soon I will have more saves than blams. Right the b/p average overall could be alot different from the 140 here how dont know.

Oh, my quest for 100k isn't really unlikely, man. In fact, getting to 100k total points is actually going to be easier for me to do than getting to 10,000 posts. Why? Because all I have to do is never stop depositing exp.

Yes the 100k will be easier because depositing is simple for 10k posts if you want it but dont want to make 50 post a day its going to take a while.

Sure it'll take years, but it'll happen. If I'd post a fair amount, then both goals would be achievable a lot faster, though. So that's the way to go.

I don't think there's much point in the FFIV - VI GBA versions except for the bonuses. Maybe I'd get FFVI, but I already have that on the PS1.

I only have FF1/FF2 for the PS1. Plus we don't seem to have any memory cards that'll let us save our PS1 games on them... PS2 cards won't work, and none of our PS1 cards are working with our PS2. How fucked is that?

So anyway, I don't have IV/V/VI for the PS, so I got IV and V for the GBA and can play them on my DS.

Yes with b/p whores like pep, afro, donny, ramagi, wylo, rr and more getting 300-800 saves a week the average is going up and only up. Yes the portal is blessing us with the saves pretty soon I will have more saves than blams. Right the b/p average overall could be alot different from the 140 here how dont know.

Yes the 100k will be easier because depositing is simple for 10k posts if you want it but dont want to make 50 post a day its going to take a while.

Haha, my PS1 memory cards which I got 9 years ago still work, but the two PS1s I've had don't work anymore and recently, my PS2 has stopped working (the third one I've used). Too bad because I got a PS2 game for christmas that I really want to play on (Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence). I may as well wait until the PS3 is out and see the PS2 drop in price. In the meantime, I should get new GC games, play on DS games and watch DVDs.

Sure thing. Thanks for the high compliments as always. I don't know what great spirit of statliness possessed me on the day I decided to see how many people had 10k in various stats, but since that day in late 2003... wow... more than 3 years before the end of the list, I hadn't realised that until just now...

anyway, since that day the pentalist has been my favourite list of my varied lists at one time or another. It doesn't have the simple niftiness of the VP list's concentration on just one awesome stat... and it doesn't have the nostalgic wonder that my old top 50 saves list did (but hell, I haven't updated that in years now #;-}>)... but it was one megalithic stat-combining maelstrom of funky awesomeness, that it was.

I don't want to pass the torch for various reasons. One: TarThoron was going to take up the RG version of this list when I stopped it on RG about a year ago, but he never did. I think updating this list is too much for anyone but perhaps myself and Dogma/Denvish/the folks who've mastered updating the EGRL. It's a handful, a headache, and as time goes by inaccuracies would start to ruin it. We'd be missing so many 10k+s it'd get insane.

So this list would have to change to 3x10k+ instead of 2x10k+, and then it'd start to get way too elitist.

It may sound like making up excuses, and it is... but by ending it now, the good side effect of preventing this list from being super-unaccurafied... from becoming way too trimmed down and excluding a lot of people who made the effort to get on the 2x10k+ pentalist verson of it over the past year or so...

Don't get me wrong, if NG Lister still worked, I'd either still be updating this list weekly... or someone else would now have my current spreadsheet and my blessings to continue.

But without an automatic stat-puller, it's not worth the terrors. The list is back to around 150 people long. It's too insane to deal with.

Except maybe one more glorious time, if and when I hit 10,000 posts.

But I strongly feel I'll be posting more due to no more listmaking.

So the good news for you, and me, and anyone else who's a fan of this list... is that it will likely have one last hurrah when I hit that big ol' 10k and the resulting quadlisted status that will compel me to produce one last VANITY UPDATE. #;-}>

Hell, maybe I can get my NG BBS posting shit together enough to try and time the 10k moment and the update itself for my birthday, 6/30/2007.

If not, maybe I'll aim for 1/1/2008 or so.
