best one i've ever seen. there was like 70+ in there... hahahah!!

All are porn-related.

and all are abusive! excellent find.

Only two today, might post some more later.

phhh, they were both brilliant finds.
say, when you are marking someones reviews, everytim you clikc 'abusive' or any other button, it takes you to all of the reviews for that submission, yeh? so, after you mark each review you have to right click and press 'back', correct? or is there some other easier form of doing it?
--
Shitty - there wasn't a lot in there, maybe 4 or 5. im gonna review that one myself, because i saw it earlier this morning.

No, don't think so....I do think that the admins should make it so that it takes you back to the author's reviews. Also, if you're viewing reviews on 'rating'(to find negative and insulting reviews, of course) it also takes you bak to the 'date' sorting, they should change that too...
Just another idea that will never happen :P

Is a review stating that a movie is stolen, and giving 0's in every category (including overall) on a movie that has passed judgment considered abusive?

Ie: "This movie is stolen, which is a shame, because I liked it"

Yeah, I think it's in the rules. Something like this:

If a movie is stolen, don't complain about it in your review. Email one of the administrators. Because if you say something is stolen you might cause others to vote low on it too.

So yes, it's abusive.

Another workaround is to ctrl-c twice. At times, that seems to work.

No, don't think so....I do think that the admins should make it so that it takes you back to the author's reviews.

The system isn't complex enough. It doesn't differentiate between people marking reviews helpful/nothelpful/abusive from a MOVIE's listing or from a PERSON's listing. If they changed it so that marking reviews abusive put you back into the reviewer's reviews, then people who are just marking reviews from within say Madness Avenger... would end up in the person's reviews instead of back in Madness Avenger's reviews. Which would be just as bad, eh? They're not going to split the system to accomodate both styles, I don't think. "by movie" is the default for a reason.

And besides, there IS a better method:

shift-click (IE) or ctrl-click (Firefox) the abusive link.

If you're in IE, it'll open the page of reviews from the movie in a new window which you can close as it starts to load (it's gotten the abusive mark by then).

If you're in Firefox, it'll open the page of reviews from the movie in a new tab which you won't even have to deal with if you're in a small review window (you won't even see it).

When I'm marking a link spammer's reviews abusive, if I'm not using the review mod panel (because another mod already banned the spammer and thus I can't mark abusive x 10 from within the panel)... I will open their reviews, ctrl-click all 10 on the first page, then ctrl-tab to get to the first of the 10 movie-review-pages. ctrl-f4 all 10 tabs, then I'll be back on the listing of the spammer (and if I hit ctrl-f4 too many times, it doesn't matter, as ctrl-f4 won't close the original window, just individual tabs within it when there's more than one tab open... which there isn't when you get back to the original tab, eh?)... and then I'll move to page 2 and repeat.

I only bother with closing all the 10 tabs because my computer will crash if I have dozens of tabs open. If you have a good computer, just open the review window for the person, mark all 10 reviews abusive with ctrl-click, move to page 2, repeat. And don't worry about closing the tabs. Just close the whole window when you're done with that person's abusives.

And that's what I do, of course, when there aren't 50 link spam reviews to mark abusive. Just 15 or so, I don't bother closing the tabs individually.

I must say I never do that, I have thought of it, though. I just don't like to use Firefox's tabbing function a lot. Beats seperate windows, though :P
By the way, clicking the scroll button on your mouse has the same effect ;)

When I'm marking a link spammer's reviews abusive, if I'm not using the review mod panel (because another mod already banned the spammer and thus I can't mark abusive x 10 from within the panel)... Heh, my computer can have tons of tabs open at the same time. I tried tabbing the top 50 once, and it hardly slowed down.
Your tactic is nice, though, I'll try it when I go out hunting for reviews again. Wich will probably be tomorrow or Friday.

Marcus said that when he was trying to paste a profile URL in this topic, this happened instead:

"but when i paste it in, it comes up with a link to this thread, which is http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/post.php?pid=3281726!!! pisses me up the wall, it does!"

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/post.php?pid=3281726 is the URL of a quoted-reply page on the BBS. For instance, the page I'm typing this right now is http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/post.php?pid=3320627, which means that the above post of yours is post # 3320627 on the BBS.

Those IDs mostly matter to users for BBS modding, in terms of bothering to notice them at all, but of course the BBS itself needs them for keeping track of just about everything. Which posts are in which threads, which posts are made by which people, which posts to pull up the quotes from when you hit replywithquote.

I just wonder why some links link to the thread itself.

Huh? Do you mean like how the page I'm on right now says "Post reply to: RAGE'S GIFT TO YOU: ABUSIVE REVIEWS" (where the all caps part is a link to the thread's URL)?

So you can easily open that link in a new window to check on something in the thread while still keeping the post window opne and not losing your text, I suppose. I usually open post windows in a separate window with shift-click, though... so... eh.

Heh, when the whistle system was introduced I had a normal whistle for months, because I didn't whistle/mark reviews.

I'll bet that you didn't do much whistling/marking when you started, then.

I don't get why they made the gap between silver and gold so big, though.

They didn't make it big. ramagi, Newgrundling, and Joe made it big. It's scaled. It's those users' fault, just like the reason level 18 is at 7650 exp and it's gonna take me until January to get to is because of HT and Pimp, not because of the admins. Well, indirectly it is, but you see what I mean.

At 9/22/04 04:10 PM, -Mazza- wrote: Meh, already thought that wasn't possible....Still, would be nice if it was.

It's possible, they're just not going to bother to do it because it's not a priority and thus not worth the time and effort and hassle and database issues to them right now.

Just like it's possible for the USA to send people to Mars right now, but it's insanely expensive and we don't want to do that until we're sure that water can be found there in some form to make fuel and oxygen from and etc. etc. etc.

It's all about teh timing. And teh monies. And teh work.

Huh? Do you mean like how the page I'm on right now says "Post reply to: RAGE'S GIFT TO YOU: ABUSIVE REVIEWS" (where the all caps part is a link to the thread's URL)?

No, I meant that some links just go to the top of the page you're currently on while clicking that link(wich should be http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=74264&page=37), and I'm sure Marcus meant that too. I never had it that one of my links did that, but I did see several users who couldn't make any other links than those.

So you can easily open that link in a new window to check on something in the thread while still keeping the post window opne and not losing your text, I suppose. I usually open post windows in a separate window with shift-click, though... so... eh.

When I try to read the thread iself while typing, I just press the back button, since Firefox doesn't lose text because it loves me. I did make the obvious mistake of accidentally clicking another link too, and still losing my text, though >_<
All because I'm too lazy to open a new window/tab.

Heh, when the whistle system was introduced I had a normal whistle for months, because I didn't whistle/mark reviews.

::Nods back::

I'll bet that you didn't do much whistling/marking when you started, then.

Nope. I also thought that abusive reviews didn't give that many points, so I didn't bother to do those and only looked for the occasional whistle >_<
I was such a huge n00b at that time.

They didn't make it big. ramagi, Newgrundling, and Joe made it big. It's scaled. Well, indirectly it is, but you see what I mean.

Yeah, yeah, I knew that. I meant why did they make it that way. I'm fine with the level thirty thing, but only five levels for the whistle system just seems so little for such a huge site.

Visible whistle points would also help......But if they were planning to ever add that one, it'd already be here.

It's possible, they're just not going to bother to do it because it's not a priority and thus not worth the time and effort and hassle and database issues to them right now.

Hmm, yeah....Such complicated stuff for something that sounds so simple :P

Just like it's possible for the USA to send people to Mars right now, but it's insanely expensive and we don't want to do that until we're sure that water can be found there in some form to make fuel and oxygen from and etc. etc. etc.

Well, I usually update within 15 minutes of midnight, but I was out with some friends tonight. I'll get it posted as soon as I finish getting caught up in the forum.

Already finished it. Sorry dude, but you came in 14th, so you're not listed. Personally, I'm surprised that you even made the top 15; I've seen nights were 6 seconds was too much.

I was actually going to play that earlier, but I got dragged away from the computer ;-)

heaps and heaps of confusing stuff that i gave up on.

I can see how you might have been confused about all that stuff about post URLs and stuff, but not ALL of what I wrote was confusing. Sheesh. #;-}>

meh, the double ctrl+c click will do fine for me! ahhaah.
also, thanks for the tip about shift+click when marking an authors reviews, that always annoys me when i have to right click+back like 50 times when im flagging someones reviews...

:::tips cap::: glad you find it as useful as I do when I'm using IE to do review marking.

It was in the quoted text of the post of mine you were replying to, silly! #;-}>

Um... well, there's a well known html device called "Bookmarking" which always involves a # in the URL. Often sites use "#top" to return you to the top of the current page. I'm still not sure that's what you're talking about... erm.

When I try to read the thread iself while typing, I just press the back button, since Firefox doesn't lose text because it loves me. I did make the obvious mistake of accidentally clicking another link too, and still losing my text, though >_<
All because I'm too lazy to open a new window/tab.

All browsers CAN lose form text. It's always a safe bet to paste it into notepad. That's what I do if I'm replying to more than 1 post at a time.... almost all the time IOW. #;-}>

Yeah, yeah, I knew that. I meant why did they make it that way. I'm fine with the level thirty thing, but only five levels for the whistle system just seems so little for such a huge site.

Well, before June 2003, there WAS no whistle system at all. Be thankful we got 5 new nifty icons to play with. #;-}>

It would be nice if silver were either broken down into several more whistles or into... I dunno, "dull silver," "regular silver," and "shiny silver" or something. Heh. #;-}>

Visible whistle points would also help......But if they were planning to ever add that one, it'd already be here.

Ya never know. A lot of people probably thought popularity ranking would never disappear.

I know. Did I mention that I have over 100 GB of harddrive space?
What's THHBPT, by the way? Couldn't find it on Urbandictionary.

Beh. Harddrive space doesn't make me jealous. I have around 50 gigs total, and it's still more than I really need. The only thing that makes me jealous are current/recent tech CPUs and graphics cards, as those are the main two areas my computer lacks. I've got plenty of RAM, plenty of harddrive, etc. etc... just old old old pentium2ness.

Thhhbpt is a raspberry. Calvin and Hobbes style. Silly.
