bob doesn't even do review mod much as it is, so even if he is doing that, he deals with maybe 3 reviews every month, that's not enough to affect your whistle at all.

So, you clearly flagged things that weren't abusive. not everything mentioned in this thread is abusive, and although me and some other review mods try to help you out with explaining what is and what isn't abusive, it's apparent that half of the people putting links in here don't know their ass from their head when it comes to what is abusive and not. The review guidelines aren't 'rules', that's why we call them "guidelines" instead of "rules" and abuse means that somebody is abusing the system, not simply not following the guidelines to the fucking letter.

and although some people have started to put names of the reviewer/submission, a lot of people just leave a link and you may not see it until after a mod has already seen those reviews and deleted the abuses, so you're left with a link leading to perfectly fine reviews, but without actually knowing which ones the other people thought were abusive, you go and flag stuff that has already been deemed OK, and just get yourself lost whistle points.

please, for the love of god just read the reviews before you flag them. "unhelpful" does not, and never will mean the same as "abusive".

So, an admin declares a new rule, but a review mod says it's not going to be enforced? Let's be fair, here, that's grounds for a reasonable amount of confusion - heck, even I'm getting confused, and I'm usually reasonably quick on the uptake.

tigerkitty stipulates on this page that reviews of spam submissions will not be deleted unless they break any other rules, but the flags will be cleared with penalty. I don't know if another review mod has overruled that since that page (I can't be bothered to sift through the crap between that point and this one to find out), but that's what I've been going on for the past couple of weeks.

Several questions arise from this:

1. Why is Bob declaring new rules if review mods aren't going to be enforcing them?

2. Why is it exactly that the rule is being enforced, seemingly, by some mods, and not by others?

3. If Bob is going to be enforcing his new rule, but the mods aren't, then how the hell is anyone supposed to know which view to go for? Sure, Bob may not be review modding a whole lot, but that doesn't mean that someone won't be unlucky and get their flags cleared (with penalty) by Bob.

Sorry if any or all of these questions have already been addressed, but frankly, there seems to be a LOT of confusion over this issue, and I don't view this thread avidly enough to see everything that the mods drop in to say, so anyone who wants to berate me for not knowing if something has already been mentioned can fuck off.

Perhaps me asking these questions will help clear things up for everyone else who isn't sure, as well (once they're answered, anyhow).

I meant that there was only one abusive review, it was made by CGUE. It was removed. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Here's my thoughts on general marking, please be aware that reviews marked as abusive, are reviews that blantly insults the author, this doesn't necessarily apply to reviews that insults the submission for i.e. "this movie sucks monkey balls (unhelpful review) " vs. "You #&*(@ suck monkey balls!" (abusive review)

Hmm, from what I gathered.. when Bob mentioned "So anyone jumping on the bandwagon and flagging comments that are accurate in pointing the finger at spam groups, they're going to get a surprise in the form of a garbage whistle." This to me was making a distinction between Highly abusive reviews vs. reviews that reveal the truth about their spamming nature.

Since it could be seen as abusive i.e. "STOP submitting these Shit!!", or "Why do you submit these!?" but pertains to their identity as a spamming group, AND can actually be agreed upon by many users (unlike standard submissions). But then again, everybody has their own judgement on this, and I certainly don't see Bob's statement as a new rule.

To Felipe, read my entire post. I was asking why another review mod had made a statement to the contrary, and generally trying to clear up what was going on with this issue. If you're too lazy to read someone's whole post, don't reply to it.
