Does the guy even wrestle? The segment was terrible.

Apparently Shamus is pretty decent, or at least I've heard he was in FCW. I'll agree with you on Washington though, last weeks segment was just painful to watch. Cryme Times word up bit is gold compared to it.

This weeks was even worse.
There in the ring you have Tommy Dreamer and some n00b is spouting fat jokes to him!?
They weren't even good or original fat jokes, they were lame.
Tommy dreamer isn't fat.
I don't understand why they have a general manager is seldom seen who could be and should be filling that role as to generate, control and move feuds on.
I don't see why they brought Washington to the show at all, what does it achieve?

Everyone at the WWE has been great to me in helping and supporting me through this tough procedure. I also want to thank Dr. Pappas and Duke Medical Center for doing an awesome job of putting my abdomen back together again." WWE.com has also posted a pretty graphic photo of Hardy's surgery.

I wish him a speedy recovery. He wrote in great detail about the injury and said it had been nagging him as early as his fued with MVP.

He's had this problem for THAT LONG? Why the hell didn't he get it checked BEFORE it got this bad?

OUCH. >.<

Also:

CommercialAppeal.com is reporting that Jerry "The King" Lawler has decided to officially run for Mayor in the city of Memphis. Lawler made the announcement himself during a radio

Wouldn't it be weird if he won?

Hey, Jesse Ventura made it. (Senate or Mayor? I can't remember.)

I have a theory.

What is up with that?

Here's my theory: It's popping Vince. Vince thinks this kind of dumb "comedy" is actually funny and he likes it so creative will put this sort of slop out there to make the boss happy. Or it's just down to people on ECW creative having lost their goddamn minds and with so much talent depletion they're just trying anything to fill time. But I think the first is more likely.

Does the guy even wrestle? The segment was terrible.

I'm sure in their mind they're building up to that and putting heat on him ahead of time.

just watched ECW

That Shelton/Yoshi match was pretty damn good!.. if they keep this fued up, i might actually go out of my way to watch ECW, it was also good to see shelton get a clean win over Yoshi to bring his rep back up after his embarrassing loss last week.

Finally Ezekiel Jackson makes his debut on ECW, something that bothered me though is that they kept saying that he was part of the new talent initiative thing when clearly he was drafted from SD! to ECW months ago.. anyways very nice showing from ezekiel, i really liked that move where he threw his opponent up in the air and caught him on his shoulder, also that clothesline was pretty powerful.. he really has improved alot since teaming with the brian kendrick, though his mic skills probably still need some work.

Damn man that Abraham Washington guy sucks ass.. apparently he had a president inspired name as well as a presidental gimmick back in FCW coz they thought he resembled Barack Obama.. he doesn't look anything like Obama at all.. anyway seems like he's a heel now coz he made a lot of shots at Dreamer about his weight... cause he's SOOOOOOO FAT! yeeeah.. i gotta admit Dreamer made me laugh when he made cracks about Washingtons Hair.. seriously it looks like its made of rubber or plastic, its very shiny too.. anyway it brings out kozlov who seems to be smiling a lot more lately.. and he has a new and very red attire

i'm glad christian won the match.. i actually did think kozlov was going to win.. but im glad christian won..

The WWE seems to think we all have very short memories, all the wrestlers who have moved from ECW to Smackdown all seem to have wiped their pasts.
What we've seen before is all brand new again apparently.

Matt is hardcore dude. You can say what you want about him but its hard to question his dedication to the industry.

I'm looking forward to SD tonight. It will be the last time we see Edge for a while. That really is a shame. It will be tough going without him since he is such an entertaining person to watch. I think Jericho and Punk will have to fill in as the top heels for a while.

Agreed. I have no idea what that was about. I will say I loved Punk's promo on Jeff prior to his match with Khali. And then there was the main event... WOW! Best TV match this year, easily. SD is worth watching just for Rey vs Jericho.

As for Abraham Washington, there's a reason why he hasn't wrestled yet. The guy is pretty damn awful in the ring.

Did anyone happen to catch last night's Superstars? If you didn't, good for you. The show had Chavo vs Hornswoggle as the main event (With the stipulation being that Chavo had to wrestle on his knees), and included a Ricky Ortiz match that lasted more than 10 minutes, and was just as terrible as it sounds, AND a Zach Ryder match that went 15 minutes.. I'm not even making this stuff up.

On a random note, I came across a fed called PWU. The only thing I know about the fed is this...

They booked a match between Raven and "Twisted Sand" Tyler Fullington, for those that may not know, Twisted Sand is the son of The Sandman (Yup, the same son from the old ECW). Kinda makes me feel old.

Just got this from PWI:

WWE has announced that the "guest host" for this Monday's Raw will be actor and producer Seth Green. Green is one of the producers and creators of Robot Chicken on the Cartoon Network, and his best known movie role is probably playing the son of Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers movies.

You can read WWE's announcement at this link.

This marks the first time a "non-wrestling personality" will be the guest host, as Batista and "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase were the previous hosts.

That's a pretty cool move by WWE and it fits right into the demographic they want to go after as I think it'll be worth watching to some savvy fans of RC (which is a very funny show if you've never seen it).

Guess this means Mr. Ziggy might possibly fill Edge's void for Jericho. Good-yet-interesting timing.

The Jericho/Mysterio match delivered on all fronts; Jericho once again shows that he doesn't follow the Four Moves of Doom formula (why the fuck don't other wrestlers follow his example is a shame), and he didn't come out looking weak - he rarely does. The guy can sure put on one hell of a match.

The Kane/Khali feud MIGHT be better than expected, as this could make Khali look dominant again - something he needs after him putting Ziggy over.........although Punk nearly beating him tonight didn't do him any favors, either.

NOW Long gives Morrison the 'I'll take that under consideration.' speech. Guess it had to be delayed. Just a matter of time now. ^_^

The Hardy/Punk feud just keeps getting better & better - almost as if Creative is channeling Russo to a degree.

I dunno, I'd say Dolph was going to go into a singles feud with Rey, and this was just the transition into that, because SD! was obviously filmed before Edge's injury.

Now things have changed though, I could easily see them give Ziggler the rub of being with someone as awesome as Jericho.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2009-07-11 11:36:26

SD was really good last night. The Rey/Jericho match blew everything away and I would consider it the best TV match of the year so far. Lots of really cool spots and both guys came off looking great. This also plants the seeds for a Ziggler/Rey fued for the IC title. This could also meanthat the WWE has an option to let Ziggler fill in for Edge as Jericho's tag team partner.

wtf was wrong with R-Truth? Is this supposed ot be funny? Because it wasn't.

The fued between Punk and Hardy is really turing out to be a very interesting and compelling story. SD is kicking ass!

I'm glad things are getting better for Dolph Ziggler, i have a feeling Ziggler's gonna vs Mysterio at NOC, I'd really like to see him leave as the IC champ.. there were also rumours that he was going to take edge's place as tag team champ, but it doesn't seem the case now..

Also why the hell are they making the Hart Dynasty look so weak against Cryme Tyme?! they trained in the fucking Dungeon and they make it look like theyre win against Cryme Tyme was a miricle! Now i'm not gonna fully bury CT here cause they are decent wrestlers (but that word up segment is just getting annoying.. its the same shit everyweek)..

This could also meanthat the WWE has an option to let Ziggler fill in for Edge as Jericho's tag team partner.

It is a nice possibility, and with Jericho having lost that shot at Rey, it makes sense he'll want to hang onto the only title he still has. He could also use Ziggler to strike back at Rey, since Jericho no longer has any sort of "guarantee" of an IC title shot. Yes, I think this would be an excellent direction to go in. But then it's heel vs. heel in that title match at NOC.

wtf was wrong with R-Truth? Is this supposed ot be funny? Because it wasn't.

Yeah...it was just...bizarre.

The fued between Punk and Hardy is really turing out to be a very interesting and compelling story. SD is kicking ass!

Totally! What I also like is this is very much the heel character Punk did in ROH prior to coming to WWE. Someone who believes his lifestyle makes him inherently better then the guys who've abused drugs, or who Punk doesn't see as being men of their word or on his level. This is very very good, and a rare occurence indeed.

It's pretty cool that they got Seth Green to be the guest GM of Raw. I'm sure he will be promoting Robot Chicken while he is there (which is fine since that show rules) and with good reason. Apparently HHH is going to be in an episode.

From wrestlezone.com:
Seth Green and Matt Senreich, co-executive producer and co-creator of Robot Chicken, will release the Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II DVD on Tuesday, July 21 with any paper inside the DVD serving as an early entry voucher for the Robot Chicken Skate Party Bus Tour launching August 1 with details on www.adultswimpresents.com. WWE Superstar Triple H will be part of a sketch in Robot Chicken's season 4.5 premiere on Sunday, July 26 at 11:30pm/ET on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim with a sneak preview exclusively on Monday Night Raw.

According to the pay-per-view schedule on WWE.com, No Mercy has been renamed Hell in the Cell. The event will take place on October 4th at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. What? thats never going to work in my opinion. Is it going to be all cell matches... not a PPV i will eve buy.

I just could not give me any incentive to go and spend 40$ on a 2 or 3 hour show :::i honesty don't know, i havent bought on in over a year::: I know thay want to give each one a theme or whatever thay want, but i would not care at see another cell match for along time if thats how it's going to go down. Now that's all that's been said on this subject and i know nothing more.

What do you all think?

I honestly hate the idea of an even being all cell matches. There's no variety in that at all. Cell matches are my least favorite to begin with (with the exception of HITC when done right) so the idea of a PPV having nothing but those kind of matches just seems like a waste to me. Having one cell match is one thing because you can build up to it, but if everyone will be in one then it loses the interest factor.

Actually guys, I've heard the concept is to be more like NWO, where you would only get the top matches to be Hell In A Cell, not like Lockdown or breaking point where every match is the same gimmick again and again.

Like Avie said, it's only the main event matches that will take place in a cell, but I still don't like the idea. Hell In A Cell, in my opinion, is the way to blow off a feud in a big way. Having three or four on the same show damages that idea and will no doubt get stale by the last match (even if it is the best of the bunch). Not to mention, with the PG era thrust upon us, there'll be no blood in these matches >:(

I don't see why they need to make the names so literal.
No mercy would have been the perfect name for a submission themed PPV.

Hell in a cell was good when 6 men competed in it, as a match with 2 wrestlers I don't find it that interesting.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for big spots but I can not see HHH vs Orton in a cell as a blow off match or otherwise as entertaining.

Raw was pretty good last night. They actually did a decent job with Seth Green who the crowd seemed to really like. We now know that the tag titles will be defended with a partner of Jericho's choosing.

Speaking of crowd response, the way they reacted to Mark Henry was cool to watch.

Poor Chavo.... It seems every time I see the guy on TV I'm compelled to write that. When your doing the job for Hornswaggle on a nightly basis it's time to hang it up and leave.

Next week's guest is ZZ Top. Thats out of nowhere isn't it?
