Mmm, why does this happen every year? I suppose as a fan of the wrestling business you have to come to terms with things like this happening more often than usual, but you'd think there could be some preventative measures.
If he was in WWE, there would have been. But here was a guy that only worked occasional indies, so how are they going to monitor him and since he is NOT their employee why SHOULD they? I'm not trying to be heartless, this is sad as hell somebody that young is dead...but really, people have to take responsibility for their own actions and we have to lay the blame at his feet. If this doesn't turn out to be some freak condition (and all signs point to this will come out as yet another drug related death) this is on Andrew Martin, not the wrestling business.
Until he fails a test, I'll give you one name that proves that full-timeing in the wrestling business, from indies onto the big stage does not make you a drug user: CM Punk.
As long as he's clean, then that's the shining example to say that guys make their own bad choices, and even if there is a culture permissive to it, or encouraging of it. That is bad, that should indeed be stopped. But you can't blame the business for a guy giving into that temptation and saying "I'm going to do something I know is bad for me, harmful, and illegal". In the end, it is still up to that guy to have made that choice.
