This ain't a bad week for RAW at all.
domestic violence can be funny too!

I should add... This Orton thing doesn't seem legit. First it was reported that he slid 30 feet after falling from the bike. Now, WWE.com is saying that it was 300 FEET!!
Sounds a bit odd to me.

Sounds like typical worked footage to me. Wrestling always does that. If somebody fell off a 10 foot cage in reality, it's going to be worked to a 15 foot fall. Seems like WWE always insists on making this stuff worse then it is to show how tough their guys are.
I'm not a big Orton fan, but I try not to wish people ill. That's a tough break for him, but on the plus side, it'll give him some more time to spend at home with his wife and new baby.
Well that was a interesting find with Kane's bag tonight on Raw! Who thinks it was a hoax?
At least Cena and Batista aren't tag champs anymore... Course them only havng it for a week seems pointless to me.
The Kane storyline has taken an interesting twist. Got to hand it to WWE on this one, I did not see that coming.
I forgot the Highlanders were still employed by WWE... Course with the recent cuts going on they might not be.
I liked the CM Punk/JBL segment. Good stuff right there.

Randy Orton was involved in a motorcycle accident near his home Sunday night that could have ended his life were he not wearing a helmet.
Orton, who has only been riding motorcycles for a month, said he was riding around a sharp curve on a steep hill home when an oncoming car veered into his lane causing him to widen his turn.
Orton then struck a curb and was thrown from his bike. He collided with the ground, knocking him unconscious. In his words, Orton "bounced and rolled just under 300 feet, landing in a ditch."
"When I came to, I knew I had rebroken my collarbone," said Orton. "When the police and fireman got there, they asked me 'Where's the guy who was in the wreck?' and I said 'It was me.'"
Orton, who was wearing just shorts and a sweatshirt, only sustained the rebroken collarbone.
"Without a helmet, I would be dead," said Orton. "Now that I have a newborn daughter, so much was going through my head."
Although the initial prognosis is that Orton will not need surgery, this injury will set him back an additional three months before he can return to the ring.
Orton did have one final message for his fans ... "I will ride again."

no such thing as a good kane storyline, the less story the better.

If you haven't already, I suggest hitting the ROH website and ebay to find some of his ROH work and shoot interviews, you'll be really glad you did.
I wound up missing RAW last night due to apparently setting my VCR wrongly, but after reading reports and thoughts, I'm glad I did. It sadly looks like WWE really learned nothing from the draft or the ratings boost they got from it and are now headed back to same old same old, and even dumber storylines then before.
So...Cena and Batista are one week champs, and they drop the belts back because they can't get along so Dibiase and Rhodes look lucky and completely below the former champs. Why the fuck do they not understand this kind of booking doesn't work? I can somewhat forgive some of the people on creative, a lot of them have no wrestling background, but Vince has been involved with this business for years, he made his fortune from it, so why is he as the editor (and in many cases the guy calling the angles) not saying "oh we are not doing this, this will make the new champs look foolish?" Stupid, stupid booking.
Punk and JBL was also a dumb idea. Punk is a far better talker then JBL, and to have JBL drone on and on saying the same things he's been saying since Punk's run started is dumb. We've heard it all before! Not to mention, if Punk is such a pathetic joke, then JBL is even MORE of a joke because Punk beat him once before already, so if JBL wins here, is he really gonna be all that great of a champion? It goes back to something I've heard many many old time wrestlers say, when you bury the hell out of your opponent, you don't help yourself because if he beats you, you got beat by a loser and you look so much worse. But if you win, you still don't get anything from it because you beat somebody that you told people they shouldn't give a shit about. I think I'm with Dave at this point in fearing they'll flip the belt to JBL at SS now.
Kane has Mysterio's mask? Really? All that build for that? I personally don't look forward to Kane and Mysterio, because I just don't enjoy the big man little man crap like Vince seems to. Either we get the patently unrealistic idea of Kane being beaten by the smaller Mysterio who he could throw around like a lawn dart. Or we get the much more over Mysterio being destroyed by Kane. This is dumb, we went from a potentially good Kane-Batista feud to this.
It's official, at least on the RAW Side: WWE has utterly dropped the ball from the draft.

That's awesome that you were there man! I really enjoyed watching it, even though I was at home lol. Good thing Edge is back to his old self again, I couldn't stand watching him be a Vickie person.
But other than that, I was very surprised Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase were able to win back their titles a week after they lost them. I don't know what the hell was up with Cena, he wasn't acting like his normal self in that match. God dammit, now I have to deal with these guys again. FUCK.
What I'm really confused about is that Rey Mysterio/Kane thing. Does that mean Mysterio is dead? I'm really curious to know where this is going. Oh well, I hope I find out next monday.
was it just me who has hoping that kane was going to pull out the hurricanes mask?

Probably so, yes. When and if Helms comes back though, it probably would be best for him to just come back with that character, he was at his most over then, and it's the best way I think for him to seem like more then just another lightweight.

hah, i knew it wouldn't be helms, but come on, you know you loved the kane and hurricane tag team.
you're right though, helms (if) he returns should go back to the superhero gimmick, although he is more over, i seems to be restricted with his moves, unlike when he was plain gregory helms, yet wasn't over..
he can't win!
I look forward to when Helms returns I hope he comes back as the Hurricane too and since he's been gone for such a long time, returning with that gimmick is a good way to get the fans behind him more. SD is the best place for him too since they jobbed the heck out of him on Raw.

WWE released three developmental wrestlers today - Charles "The Hammer" Evans, Matt O'Neal and Brad Attitude.
Evans had been in developmental since 2006 and had worked a few dark & house show matches for WWE. He appeared at WrestleMania this year as a part of Floyd Mayweather's entourage. Evans looked like a prime candidate to get called up to WWE at some point, but he never made it.
Regarding the other two releases, Matt O'Neal and Brad Attitude, they're so obscure, not too many people even knew they were under contract to WWE. I don't think O'Neal or Attitude have ever competed on a Florida Championship Wrestling show. Nonetheless, O'Neal is a former football player WWE scout Ty Bailey hired sometime ago. Brad Attitude has appeared as an enhancement worker on WWE television a few times over the years, losing to the likes of Bobby Lashley and Mark Henry.
I seriously forgot Orton was out. I dont wish anything bad on the guy, but I could care less when hes gone. Good riddance to a guy who has a (RUMORED) bad backstage attitude, IMHO.
I enjoyed ECW last night. Good matches from start to finish. I think the Dreamer/Colin match could have been better but at least Colin got a few offensive moves in.
Even Bourne's high flying ability is just awesome. Reminds me of when there was a decent cruiser division many many years ago.
Main event was interesting. Having Matt go the distance and get the win without Henry's help shows that Matt can be a serious threat to Henry.

I seem to have less and less time lately and didn't catch RAW or ECW this week. I may well just become a Smackdown guy for a while now, while checking out the results for the other two shows. Smackdowns on at a time thats good for me, as well as being by far the best brand in my opinion, as somebody already said, even with the khali fued.
At 8/12/08 02:42 PM, TheD-LucksEdition wrote: Well at least we have Edge on Smackdown.
In fact Smackdown, I feel, has been on the up recently in terms of quality. Even if the championship feud does have Khali in it.
I was always more of a Smackdown person, their storyline was always better than Raw and they seem to just be getting better and better after the draft. I hope Jeff beats MVP at Summerslam, i've never been this pissed off at MVP after he's screwed Jeff out of 3 victories in a row.
It was disappointing seeing Mark Henry backstabbing Matt Hardy after their match with Miz & Morrison, I honestly don't know why the hell Mark Henry would do something like that. I guess once it comes to titles, superstars would do just about anything. Besides, where's this Finlay & Mike Knox thing going? I was glad that Finlay was able to beat Armando, but I seriously don't see this rivalry going anywhere.
Mark Henry is a heel and is defending his title against Matt at the PPV. He doesn't need any more resons than that to attack.
I think the MVP/Jeff storyline and fued is really great. I hope it lasts beyond SS. Those two can possibly steal the show, though I expect the HITC to be awesome as well.

Read this, go on, read this, let what mothballs is saying really sink in. Here is a person who is saying to you, and to WWE "I prefer the show where you have a former WRESTLER who understands how to book WRESTLING matches and storylines. I am really enjoying a classic WRESTLING idea of the heel getting heat on the babyface by costing him victories".
This is the big problem with a lot of what WWE does, especially on RAW. They are so goddamn focused on being what they aren't, trying to be a sitcom with fighting, that it doesn't work. Wrestling is wrestling, yes, Vince and his past writers have found interesting tweaks to old formulas, and probably will again, but that's the trick: You tweak what works. You stop trying to reinvent the wheel, you stop trying to be something you aren't, and you just be good solid wrestling, you put out characters and feuds that make people say "oh hell! I HATE so and so, I can't wait to go watch him get his ass kicked by so and so!" That's it, that's the secret, just good solid wrestling. RAW looked like it had a hell of an oppurtunity to do that post-draft, and they have consistently pissed it away. SD! was good before the draft, and they've just stayed the course since, and just incorporated the new talent in. Vince would be smart to look more closely at his Friday night show and try to bring that over to Mondays.
Raw has always been the show with the most "drama" and its hot or miss. Sometimes they come up with a good story and we end up liking it, and other times the story has been done far too many times, or its just plain stupid and it fails. Sd has been consistent in having morte wrestling and competition involved, though it isn't free of some of the weird storylines either.
I honestly thought the whole Festus gimmick would fail, but the crowd seems to be behind him. Jessie on the other hand people write off and forget he's there half the time. If Festus was that wild man all the time they wouldn't need Jessie there to remind us about the whole bell thing. So this is just an example that SD too has some dumb gimmicks, but this one seems to be working for the time being.

I think Jesse should be alright as long as he and Festus are teaming together, and if they want to break them up, then there'd be good potential for a Jesse heel turn.
He can take advantage of Festus' condition, or turn on him because he has to put so much effort in looking after him. That could make people care about Jesse if done right.
Or maybe you just keep the two together, what do I know.
At 8/15/08 12:23 PM, TheD-LucksEdition wrote: If at some point they were to turn J&F heel, the way I see it Jesse would be the one made to actually turn heel. Jesse may want to get an 'easy way to the top' after J&F floating around mid-card for so long and have Festus (who doesn't know any better and will attack whoever he's up against anyway) take on and eliminate top guys so that Jesse can claim how top-calibre they are.
I like that. It's not like Jesse is so popular that they couldn't turn him heel, he's just the one to set up the popular Festus.
Hell, it could even lead to Festus breaking out of his catatonic state, turning him into a true monster.
Hello I'm a huge wrestling fan, so I'd love to join this club. My favorite wrestler is Rey Mysterio, and I frequently watch Raw and Smackdown, but I don't really watch ECW. It was crazy that Rey Mysterio's mask was in Kane's bag.
And the releases continue:
Stevie Richards - Richards, an ECW original, who most recently was praised internally for his two match series with Vladimir Kozlov on Smackdown.
The Highlanders - Robbie & Rory McAllister, who appeared on Raw this week to lose to Cryme Tyme, but had essentially been buried ever since Robbie attended a live TNA Impact broadcast prior to Wrestlemania and was shown on camera in the crowd.
Wes Adams - A referee, Adams had been working for the ECW brand.
Also Cherry and Colin Delaney are gone.
Stevie is the only one on this list that to me is surprising or feels like a tremendous waste. The guy has had great matches with stiffs, and really hasn't gotten a chance since the old RTC gimmick which he was fantastic at and took a stupid dead end parody and really really got it over along with everybody else there. It's a shame WWE never has really tried to do more with him, but he was definitely working on some things outside the business, and I'm sure he'll be able to get plenty of indy bookings should he want them.
The rest? Highlanders did nothing, and I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner after Robbie being such a bonehead. Referee's with all due respect you can always find another guy to do that, they're pretty interchangeable for the fans. Delaney? Train wreck, he was going nowhere, so probably well past time to cut bait there. Cherry? She was improving I think, but she was still just a good looking girl that was learning to wrestle on SD!...and really was kind of like a "+1" that wasn't going anywhere and probably wasn't going to be featured as anything more then a job girl for Natalya and other heels on their way to Mccool. You can get other chicks off the indies, or from developmental to do that. No big loss.
Can't blame WWE for cutting all these folks lately, they had a quarter that wasn't quite what they wanted, they want that big buyrate for SS, but if they don't get that, they can at least say to investors "we are trimming down the roster and releasing people we consistently either aren't using, or aren't using well to save a few bucks"
Was it just me, or was Smackdown awful tonight? I guess I don't want to spoil anything for you guys who haven't seen it, but saying that, you really won't have missed much if I do.
3 more superstars gets release!
World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of ECW Superstar Stevie Richards, Raw tag team Robbie & Rory of The Highlanders, and WWE referee Wes Adams as of Aug. 15, 2008. WWE wishes them the best in all their future endeavors.

It really sucks that Stevie got released. I've always been a fan of his and it really is a shame that WWE never did much with the guy despite his ability to give solid match after solid match with just about everyone. Wow... Dreamer truly is the last ECW original now.
