Sabu, Sandman, those guys ain't jobbers, they just happen to be the jobees (lol, what?) And even though Mamaluke and Roadkill got offense in and made it competetive, they were still squashed.
Mamaluke has been mostly squashed, but did you watch the same Sabu/Roadkill match that I did? Roadkill not only got a great amount of offense and controlled Sabu for a good couple of minutes or so in a short bout, but also managed not to tap for a Camel Clutch. He only tapped when the hold was reapplied with a chair pushed into his back. That to me says that the point was that Roadkill "hung" with Sabu there. He seems like someone they want to push.
I don't know if other titles will be added just yet. This is a "summer series", whatever the hell that means, and with only one hour a week and goodness only knows when and if they'll get PPV time, I doubt more belts are coming into play anytime soon. But yes, spots will open up, but only if they open them themselves. Stop giving us squashes and Kelly and then the oppurtunities will flow.
What that means is that SciFi has only so far greenlit the series for 12 weeks. Considering how good the rating has been for them though, I'd imagine they'll want to keep it, but there's rumors USA would take it if they didn't. I'm kind of hoping that USA takes it over as I will point out the biggest reason below. Also, the next PPV is already confirmed for December. Whether they'll get time on any "cross-brand" shows is something I haven't heard about, but I don't think it'd be a terrible idea to book a couple big matches to add to something like Summerslam...and I do NOT mean interbrand, I mean ECW guy against ECW guy.
Punk
I've been hearing that he can work the ECW crowds like he's a veteran of the company. He should be their top guy within a year I'm told.
Show can wrestle. Show can fly. He's proven this, but WWE wants him to be the big scary guy that'll hit you. He needs freedom. With that freedom, he can Moonsault his way into the heart of ECW fans everywhere.
One move isn't exactly flying, but letting him do things he couldn't in WWE will certainly help him out. I don't think making him a heel at first is a bad idea either. But they certainly need to make him seem like a different Big Show now that he moved.
Thats my point. I'm not saying WWECW totally sucks, or is dead. I've been saying all along that it was simply not the old ECW and that the old ECW is dead and gone. I doubt they'll let Super Crazy back, because they seem to want him on SD! Psicosis is another story. And man, don't be fooled. I've seen Knox, and he's just another big guy.
I don't really know that they want him on SD! all that much, they need bodies to throw at Helms, but they can get any lightweight to do that, if they even remember they have such a division. Psichosis and or Crazy would be better served going somewhere else where they might be able to really add something to the show, and be respected by the fans.
True. We can't rely soley on the old ECW crew. But I'd appreciate Sandman and Dreamer getting better than they are, and I'd also appreciate talent instead of Test and Fertig. Figure this, Kenny, Punk, Cabana(he's still in the DSW, right?) Carlito, Nitro, Haas, Kash over Test, Fertig, Knox. I think they could have made a lot of better and unique choices for ECW.
True, I wish they would have picked some other people to go fill slots on SD! and RAW, and get all the ECW guys back where they belong, but there's still plenty of time to move those guys over, and those other guys out if they don't work. Fertig may not even be used a great amount since he already failed once, and the only reason he's there is as a concession to Sci-Fi. If they were to move away from Sci-Fi and go to USA or something, I don't think Fertig and Shelly the Fortune teller would be moving with them. As far as Sandman and Tommy, hey, I'd like to see them get better pushes, or at least be used in a way that helps put over quality guys. Considering WWE decided to package this years One Night Stand with Barely Legal, which prominently features much of the talent they've got for the new ECW, that opputurtunity may just come for them. Like I say, I'm still very encouraged in hearing that the show will get built around RVD and Sabu. So while there's definitely stuff to hate, I do have to applaud and agree that is the correct way to go.
I believe Sabu is on his way to something bigger. As for the "unestablished talent", thats bull. Allow them some exposure minus squashes, and we'll be fine. The FBI, Justin Credible, Balls Mahoney all could get in good with the fans given a chance to. IT all comes down to managing time, and there needs to be less time in fucking Kelly and Knox.
I wish they'd cut down on their time by just letting Knox do his squash and get out, no "Kelly's Expose" but they keep advertising it like it's going to be a big part of the show, so we'll just have to live with it for now. I keep hearing Justin Credible will be used, and he'll be getting a partner to make a new Impact Players tandem. If they get the right guy, that could be very interesting. Balls is decent, but may be hampered by the new ECW's seeming disdain for crowd fighting and truly over the top brawling. We'll see.
.....thats all I been saying bro.
It sounded to me like you were drawing comparisons between the two like a lot of other people have, and while they may share a name, talent, and WWE is certainly trying to invoke that legacy and atmosphere, these are different animals.
I'm not done with WWECW my friend. I'll watch because it's the new brand.
And I'll watch because it still has enough of the old ECW locker room, and I truly believe that given some time to really figure out and formulate what needs to be focused on with the show, it's going to get better. This past week was the first real out and out bomb in my opinion since week 1, and you have to give them sort of a pass here since they had to drastically rewrite this show, and RAW before it due to the RVD/Sabu incident. They didn't plan to have to switch the belt on Wednesday.
