Born to Be Wired 8/9/97 Barbed Wire Match for the ECW World title
Terry Funk, Champion vs. Sabu
Thoughts: There’s not much I can say about Born To Be Wired that hasn’t already been said…it was violent, it was brutal, it was sickening, and it was another match that frankly shouldn’t have happened. Sabu and Funk pushed themselves to levels of brutality and self-mutilation that are sickening. The match got so out of hand they even had to change the finish! This one has had a prior DVD release as the centerpiece of ECW: Deep Impact.
As Good As It Gets 9/20/97 Intergender Match
Beulah Mcguilicuty vs. Bill Alfonso
Thoughts: Fonzie showed us exactly how much blood a human could bleed and not die, and Beulah showed us she wasn’t just the most beautiful woman ever in ECW, she could fight like the boys too! This one has previously seen release as an bonus feature to ECW: Deep Impact.
Heatwave 8/2/98 ECW Death Match for the FTW title
Taz, Unrecognized FTW Champion vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
Thoughts, wow, what a bout this was, Taz vs. Bigelow in his hometown, and they also recreated the memorable unplanned spot from their earlier Living Dangerously bout. Falls counted anywhere in this one. This bout, as well as the whole Heat wave ‘98 event was put on DVD by Pioneer.
Hardcore TV 1/17/99 ECW World Title Match
Taz, Champion vs. Shane Douglas
Thoughts: A classic, a rematch to their Guilty as Charged title bout only a week or so earlier, and they managed to have a much better match here. This bout has never been previously offered
Hardcore TV 7/5/99 Chicago Street Fight for the ECW Tag Team Titles
The Dudley Boyz, Champions vs. Balls Mahoney and Little Spike Dudley
Thoughts: A fight, pure and simple, violent, sometimes disturbing, and oh yeah…a FLAMEING FREAKING TABLE SPOT!! Oh…My…GOD!!! This bought has never been previously offered.
Guilty As Charged 1/10/00 ECW World Title Match
Mike Asshole…er…Awesome, Champion vs. Spike Dudley
Thoughts: The best ECW Match Awesome ever had against anybody not named Masato Tanaka, and further proof that WWE is insane for not being able to use Spike better. He took a hellacious beating here, but kept on fighting. This bought has never been previously offered.
ECW on TNN 2/25/00
Rhino vs. The Sandman
Thoughts: Beginning of a brutal feud that would take both men through the end of the promotion. Some good stuff here, though it degenerates into a gang fight as Rhino was then a member of “The Network” faction (sound familiar?). Just a note on TNN: They fucked pigs. They also fucked ECW. TNN became Spike TV, so if you love ECW…don’t watch that channel unless it’s for TNA, kthx. This bout has never been previously offered.
ECW On TNN 3/3/00 3-Way Dance
Super Crazy vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Little Guido (Nunzio)
Thoughts: What a great birthday present this match was. A lot of ECW on TNN sucked, I believe I’ve recounted the endless commercials, horrible time slot, and the other butchery TNN did to the show, we still had some great bouts like this one slip through. This bout has never been previously offered.
Guilty As Charged 1/7/01 “I Quit” Match
Tommy Dreamer vs. C.W. Anderson
Alternate commentary with Dreamer and Coach available on this (damn it, why the hell didn’t they get Tazz for this?!).
Thoughts: An excellent bout with Tommy bumping and selling like crazy for the young C.W. I am shocked that WWE never really picked up on this guy. He’s young, he’s mean, he’s skilled, and I think he has a great look. Had ECW survived, he would be a big star for them right now. This match has never previously been offered.
ECW One Night Stand 6/12/05
Mike Ass…er…Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka
Thoughts: You all saw it, you all know what you’re getting here. Offered on the event DVD released by WWE.
