I think I might have misunderstood what he meant because I have not seen anything about it being canceled. I did hear that Vince might move Raw again, but other than that....

Yeah, I've heard of Vince wanting to move it too. Something like TBS was a choice or something like that. If he does, I hope he moves it to a non cable channel like that, or UPN, or something. :/

True, but how important was the Euro title? That belt was forgotten five seconds after Davey boy won it the first time. You can't have you're top mid-carder also be your top main eventer, the mid-card champion has to be seperated from the main event champion because unless a mid-carder you want to push to the main events (or a guy who is just always going to be a step below) has a belt to use as a test run for his ultimately being champion, you wind up thrusting a guy to the top, and hoping he dosen't blow it.

SD!'s not getting cancelled.. right? If it did WWE is going to be in a world of trouble.

Oh, it is most definitely being cancelled, PWInsider had the qoute from UPN execs. Apparently they want to change the networks image, and WWE just dosen't fit into this new more serious strategy. I imagine they'll just havd Spike TV pick up the slack, they had a deal to run for multiple years on UPN, so I imagine that unless Viacom wants to dump their programming completely, they'll simply move them to Spike TV until the new deal for programming is done. Could even be a chance to fold SD! into an ECW brand or something similar, to REALLY look like seperate shows and competing brands.

I was checking around, and it seems UPN wanted the story corrected since they jumped the gun a bit:

THE WHOLE TRUTH ON THE UPN-SMACKDOWN SITUATION WITH NEW FACTS
by Dave Scherer @ 2:28:00 PM on 1/27/2005

I spoke with Susan Young, the author of The Oakland Tribune piece that Mike Johnson reported on yesterday, concerning Viacom's Leslie Moonves' comments about Smackdown's future on UPN. She told me that the quote in the paper was 100 percent accurate but that she incorrectly wrote that Smackdown's contract would not be renewed when she should have written that it may not be renewed. The quote took place when Moonves was talking about Smackdown's future on UPN last week. Moonves said that he didn't know how much time was left on the contract and asked UPN President Dawn Ostroff, who was also at the interview with him. She told him it expired in September of 2006. He then said he wasn't sure of the future of WWE on UPN and said it may not be renewed, with Young saying the tone of his voice and demeanor implying that it would not be.

He then issued this quote, about Smackdown. "It still makes us a decent amount of money," said Moonves. "When you think about the powerhouses of CBS and NBC on Thursday night, it's great counter-programming. (But) it doesn't fit into the overall (programming) strategy."

The interesting part of this story is that people close to Moonves have told me that he is a very calculated businessman and doesn't say things unless there is a reason for it. Transcripts of the session were logged and, according to three sources, the transcript of what was said made its way to WWE management last week, which many in the company feel was Moonves' intention all along. With WWE negotiating a new deal for their cable TV shows with Spike TV, which also falls under Viacom's corporate umbrella, a number of people I spoke with feel that Moonves very well may have been sending a message to WWE that the future of Smackdown on UPN could be directly tied to the cable package remaining on Spike. WWE has talked with other networks, including their former home at USA, about moving their programming when their deal expires.

To further the theory that Moonves' comments were calculated, UPN is aware of this story and contacted Young today asking only that her original story be changed to say that no decision has been made at this time on the future of Smackdown on UPN. Young did note to me that in the past, when matters were what he considered serious, Moonves called her personally to talk about things she had written whereas today, a lower level publicist contacted her and asked for the change.

My own take is that this was a very calculated move by Moonves, made in the midst of serious contract discussions with WWE. It's clear by the quote that he was sending WWE message. According to a number of WWE sources today, it was a message that has been received loud and clear.

This is very reputable information, so it looks like it's a situation where they wanted WWE to have some fear of God, and it got kicked out of proportion

Lordkooler's Smackdown review
1.Rey Mysterio & Eddie guerrero & Booker T vs Jindrak & Reigns & Orlando jordan
A good match to start off Smackdown. orlando jordan screwed up at the end and Eddie, Mysterio & Booker T won at the end. Then Luther reigns pushes Orlando jordan and the Bashams come out to look after him. Then Kurt angle & JBL come out to have an argument, JBL says that Arkansas is the home to the biggest liar ever, Bill Clinton. Then Theodore long announces a Last man standing match between JBL & Angle at the end.
2.John cena vs Kenzo suzuki
Didn't they wrestle eachother 2 weeks ago? This rematch was decent. After John cena won, He was interviewed by Michael Cole about the royal rumble.
3.Heidenreich segment
Heidenreich comes to the ring then the lights go out. Then he sees a fan hold a casket with Heidenreich's face inside. Heidenreich grabs it and destroys it and reads his poem about the casket match at the Royal rumble. Spit came out of his mouth while he was reading the poem. I didn't really like this segment.
4.Funaki vs Spike dudley vs Shannon moore vs Paul london
A good cruiserweight match. It had lots of back & fourth action. Paul london won at the end to get into the Royal rumble.
5.JBL vs Kurt angle
A good match to end Smackdown. At the end, Both men were down and the Big show appeared on the screen and talks about the Triple threat match for the WWE title at the Royal rumble and says that he will win the title.

And of course the Kenzo Cena match was bad. Kenzo got.. what.. a few chops in and a thumb to the eye. Total squash match done twice.

On the SD thing:
I think what that means is they wil let it stay until the contract is up. sometime next year by the way it looks. But now heres a good question. If WWE is moving Raw off of Spike and UPN is getting rid of Sd, where are these shows ending up?

Well did you guys miss me. 8 nonconsecutive days banned. What, NO, bend over for your spankings you disrespectful hoodlum.
OMGOMG kurt did 8 consective german in a row. A angleslam on the annouce table would have been Cool. Yes I agree Kurt Angle is > me
Oh I forgot about P. Londons 450 pin/splash.

Note that Carilto say I spit in the face of people who dont want to be cool, not ...in the face that are not cool. The victims the disposable chicks. Really the only useful ones are joy, amy and maybe michelle the other skanks have no role and CCC should spit in there face. Cole: Wtf HOW Could he do THis th1s unacceptable omfg. Taz: (laughes) meeh.

If SD does move it would be for a long time I think any channel expect the ones i dont get would be fine. It is not going on the network channels if it did it would be on at a stupid time and day.

Now on to mine predictions wow everyone seems to be doing this event and early cough cough frogman

Unforgiven rematch. winner HHH. To easy setup for TT at mania.
Grudge Match. Uh I dont have any secret info so I flipped a coin I guess Edge.
Casket Match. Undertaker but I think snitsky and hiendrich will exchange paths and grunt agian.
Triple threat. sad to JBL will win but it wont be a total misery if kurt doesnt get pinned.
The RR match I guess I will go with the crowd and say Batista. It would be nicce to have someone unexpected to win. think iif flair won it now he can say I won the RR in 92 agianist some of the best back then and and 2005 Woooo.

In short
Trips
Edge
Taker
Jbl
Batista

Bibby's Bets!

It is my return to predicting shit today! Right now, the Rumble. Not the whole PPV, the match itself!!

I feel as if the other normal matches will be easy to call: JBL, Triple H, Shawn, and Taker. Same fuckers every time. But now, the rumble has a bit of storyline itself!

Well, A) SD still has Two spots left due to my count or at least one...so a suprise entry is in order.

B) When Shawn wins, he will be in the rumble, and so will edge. Edge will be eliminated by shawn...but edge will pull shawn out over the top and he will lose. Not cool

C) Coach is in the rumble...so...Kane, Taker, Snitsky, Heidenrich, Big Show, or Viscera will eliminate him. Every time a weak person enters in, like Scotty 2 Hotty a few Years Back when austin won the rumble, he was eliminated by Kane and Taker. It is just common Nature.

D) Batista as well as every big man will be eliminating people left and right and Batista will even through people like Viscera out of the ring By lifting him up and over.

E) People who eliminate the most people without getting tired will usually lose. Take in case, Batista. If he comes in like in every Battle Royal and eliminates 200 people, he will lose. But...if he starts struggling and seemingly nalmost eliminated...he will win. Just like Benoit and Shawn, when they almost were eliminated, they won it all because They never took front row center in the ring. They stayed back and Won it. Whoever stays in long and doesn't eliminate too many people will win. But...

F) Batista will win it! Why you ask? Because he will. It works with his storyline. He wins the rumble, Triple H wins his title via Flair and then Batista and Triple H, for weeks after will slowly break apart. It will all come to a close at wrestlemainia were if batista dosen't win the title and triple H does, batista will become a solitary force and Pick apart the WWE untill he wins.

But my predictions are:

First eliminated: Coach, Scotty, or whoever is in #1-#3.

Last eliminated: ?

Winner: Batista

Well, that is my pick. It may be right it may be wrong. But one thing is true: Future storylines will be the factor in all wins. Just remember that.

Fuck The Faces, Hazza For Heels...Fucknuts!

Not yet, but it could be, the feeling is that this was a situation where Moonves was perhaps trying to pressure WWE into renewing with Spike TV, as they have been talking with other networks (although that really dosen't mean anything neccessarily, you do that so you can come to the table with the current carrier to show them what other networks would pay, and get them to try and beat that), so this is probably just Viacom firing back and trying to do the same to Vince to make him resign with them for a price they're more comfortable with. So far? Just negotiating practices, but as bad as SD! has been, I can't blame UPN for being somewhat ambivalent about renewing it.

it would be cool to see brock in a surprise return.

I guess i'll jump on the prediction bandwagon:

Edge vs. HBK: Truth be told I think edge should win. He's the young up and comming guy and HBK has been there done that. This might be the show stealing match, it's going to be fantastic for sure but if WWE is serious about the push of edge then it would make sense for him to win. Will that actually happen? Maybe. I'm going with Edge.

Taker vs. Foaming-at-the-mouth-Poet-Guy.

Taker won last time, and maybe... just maybe mr. h will come out on top. Don't expect this to be a great match but don't fear for teh worst either. Poet man gets my vote.

JBL vs. Kurt vs. Big Show: Considering that Vince has made it clear that he wants the title to stay with JBL until WM I don't expect any surprises in this one. JBL.

HHH vs. Orton: Honestly this could go either way but I don't see orton winning just yet. HHH then...

RR Match: It would make sense for Batista to win but there are plenty of contenders to pull out a surprise. I'm still going with Batista, but keep an eye on Eddie, Jericho, Edge, HBK, and plenty more.

I don't think that will happen, I see this as the mystery man will be number 30, will eliminate everyone but the true winner, and then comes so so close to winning, but be beaten at the last second, this way he's established, and you have a bit of a feud to tied over and finish establishing the Rumble winner before he headlines Mania...you know...that's if they're smart, it's also possible this is just supreme laziness, and the last SD! entrant will be someone from Velocity or something they decide to give a PPV bonus.

He came in at 30 and I was just like "Who the hell is that guy?" Then he dissapeared from tv and I never saw him again. Anyone remember what I'm talking about?
