I've gotten everyone 4 levels higher, to level 46. I tried the fight last night, but lost when he used BC. However, I think that the game backed me into a corner on that one. He went into OL, and started casting. I knew it was going to be Tidal Wave when the blue summoning circle appeared, but I didn't know what to do. I knew as soon as he cast Tidal Wave he was probably going to use BC, which he did. But, it was either that, or interrupt his spell, which would leave in range for a melee combo, or Ill Wind. After which he would use BC. So, tonight I'll try it again, then grind for a level when I lose, then try it again.

Also, it colder here slightly southwest of you. At least you don't catch all these snow storms coming in from the Plains.

overlimit when you see a spell coming...holy shit i didnt know alexei cast tidal wave...overlimit that shit, you see a combo, do a bigger overlimit, then break that is gonna make him want your ass, brace for bc, and if you got guts use your mystic artes..you get estelles right before the fight...sounds like a oportunity to me, melee combo for alexei isnt bad, guardian frost, great wrym, and bc are gonna be a problem...he's a tough fuck but dont let his petty arsenal get you down, and another thing...switch to rita every now and then, she gets too involved sometimes.

The problem with the mystic arte is that I need 3 Overlimits, but I only have two. At least, that's what I'm interpreting from the Battle Book. But, I've learned that this fight is basically based on luck. When I last tried the fight, he used BC immediately after going into OL. And since I have no way of knowing when he will go into an OL, I have no way to prepare for BC. It kind of reeks of a flaw in game design.
But, I'm probably going to end up grinding until I'm level 50 and try the fight again.

you get your first mystic arte at baction when duke gives you dein namos! are you telling me you never made the limit trio!? you get limit trio way before that, i think before you fight tison and nan.
you get the next one when you get raven and then estelle's from one of the chests behind the gigantos at zaude, holy shit, your getting you ass kicked because you didnt synthesize consistently, what the hell, you dont need to be lvl 50 to win...you need new equips, thats why bc kills you, thats why tidal wave owns you, lack of decent equips in tales means the next boss fight is gonna rape your...go get limit trio now, you need it, and any weapon that you can synthesize. you dont really need to lvl no more, just update your shit.

I have the mystic artes, but my OL gauge only goes up to 2. And I need it to go up to 3. And as for the equipment, no, I don't synthesize, but I have everyone with the best possible armor and weapons and shit. But, I will explore and see what I can do when I play it next.

So I decided that I'd rather hunt Giganto monsters than spend pointless Gald on synthesis. It started when I fought Poseidon in Zaude for the hell of it, but I beat him pretty easily. And since almost everyone gained a level, I decided that beat the hell out of grinding. So, 3 Gigantos later, everyone is sitting pretty at lv. 48, ready for more of the same tomorrow.

some of the most versatile skills you learn is from synthesis...the flamberge is stronger than any weapon you can dish out in blade drifts, and most of those synthesis weapons are stronger then the shops, and you have to synthesize the secondary items.

you can still hunt them, and you should have a over abundance of the items needed for synthesis if not then make what you can...i think at your point i only killed 3 gigantos.

HAI GUUUUUUYSSSSSS! I just (finally) beat Alexei! It took what I'm pretty sure is around 2 weeks maybe, but I did it. And it was, just like I was saying, an excersice in luck. Alexei used BC 4 times, but it never hit Yuri. It hit Judith all 4 times, Rita twice, and Estelle once. But, on the fourth time, both Estelle and Yuri survived, allowing Estelle to cast resurrection on Judith, and Yuri to knock down Alexei using Lone Wolf Charge to get the secret acheivement. But, since that Lone Wolf Charge was the attack that killed Alexei, Rita missed out on all the sexy experience. Boo hoo. Ah well, that doesn't matter. I beat him and got through the cut scenes and it was totally worth it. I'm now extremely interested to see what happens with Sodia, and it looked like she regretted what she did when she did it. So, I have that to look forward to. I've been sick for the past four days, but it's amazing what a feeling like this does for you. I'm thinking I'm going to be...hyper all day when I'm not sleeping from being sick.

Now now, no spoilers. I've done enough of that already with some of my previous posts.

And the only one I've played was Star Ocean 3. Still, I did enjoy it before I got utterly stuck. I can't remember what part it was, and I only have a few memories of the game.

Like these ruins with red numbers painted on the walls and you had to input them in the correct order to open a door. I think.
