Been absent.
Nope, I'm not going anywhere, here to stay.

Sue leaves the party, and so does Gadwin

It's turning out to be a good game and the battle systems simple and fun. Although I'm not a big fan of the magic, I just found bashing monsters melee style was better.

Good, it's nice to see you're enjoying it!

Are you on CD 2 yet?

Another thing I didn't like was just the constant dungeon fighting, not enough time for more character development in my opinion.

Although I didn't mind it, there was quite a bit of hack'n'slash involved, it only annoyed me when I constantly got cornered.

But it looks to be picking up, should get interesting at this point now it's just Justin and Feena.

Yup, it does.

Also if anyones curious, they're both at 22 so far.

Good goin'.

I finally got around to checking in my gamestop coupon, bought two new games today, well, an hour ago precisely.
While I was taking in all the new games that had appeared since the last time I visited gamestop, a certain title hit me that made me remember something. It was Star Ocean First Departure. It looks rather decent, I'm sure someone here has played it before.
The other game I bought was Riviera The Promised Land, it looks interesting and I hope it's worth it.

Also, I don't know how I'm going to survive knowing that there are people here already playing ToS2, waaaargh.

Annnd, I'm off to play.

Try Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
Great for a young person RPG! Easy (for experienced gamers) and fun.

I endorse this and add Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga to that.
I was a bit disappointed in Partners in Time. I was expecting a bit better. Don't get me wrong, it's a great RPG, but like you said, too easy.

I've met Cius in Star Ocean but not Fear yet.

Back to Riviera. (No one here has played it?!)

It's definitely unique. But I was: " WHAT THE HELL GUISE, NO FREE MOVEMENT?!" when I found out that you don't move the character like one would in an RPG. You move using directional buttons, which either moves to a new place or interacts with the enviroment. But. I am used to it now, it's okay.

The fights are a bit different too.
You don't equip weapons and the like, like you normally do. Before a battle starts you get to choose 3 characters to send to battle and you select 4 items, which can consist of weapons and items. A downsidde is that all weapons can only be used a set amount, depending on how many you found. The amount is between 5 and 50, stronger weapons having less utilizable uses.

The story is good. To keep this spoilerfree I'll just skip this part.

What's awesome is that it's completely voiced, even all NPCs! And the voices aren't half bad.

What I doubtlessly don't like

"hate" might be better...

is that you can't go back to previously visited places, except for the base village. Graaaaugh.

But lets see how this turns out.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World definitely lives up to the legacy that the previous game did, i haven't beat it yet, but it's so damn fun.

____Possible spoilers____
The battle system is so great, Vesperia fans will not be disappointed at all, the Unison Attack is kinda off and hard to get the hang of, but once you do, it's so awesome. The Mystic artes are more cinematic than normal Tales games, and are all grand. The game has Abyss' Battle speed and Vesperia's difficulty, seriously, you will have to fight 3 or 4 enemies at once in alot of battle and you will find yourself getting jumped hard by monsters. The battle system is so diverse and it's not broken at all.
You have 3 approaches in a fight.
You can:
1. Make use of the elemental grid to capture monsters
2. Use the Unison Attack (which resets the grid)
3. Or do Mystic Artes (which uses up the entire Unison Attack gauge)
The skills system is also good, and also not broken atall either. The original cast rocks, Presea does 40000+ in her mystic arte when you first get her, and the best part is she does it in 2 hits. Regal is awesome too, and Genis is perfect for monster capturing. Lloyd's basic attack is lackluster, but his artes are top notch, Emil's are too, he's like Yuri, but...not Yuri.
And the monsters..don't get me started. The monsters are amazing, it's nothing like Pokemon, its more like Disgaea; you capture monsters, they fight with you, they level up, they can eventually change class, and once they do, they revert to level 1 with added stats which is 20%of their stats from before they changed class. You can teach them magic spells too, which is also badass, they level slower each time they evolve.
I absolute love this game, it is a worthy sequel to Tales of Symphonia.
____End cocksucking____

Also, you get unison way too fast. I use it almost 2 or 3 times a battle.

when i remember to use it -_-

Yea, its a good game uptil now, I'm a good 10 hours in.

But, I might as well not have the console, for how many stores have DotNW in my town. Wal-mart is useless, and I'd have to travel another town over to get to a Gamestop, which I won't be able to do today.

But then, it's a huge choice between DotNW and Castlevania Judgement.

Just beat it. The game is shamefully short, but I blame that on the lack of free navigation of the world map.

I'm already used to the grid now, its fun.
SPOILERS______GET BACK!!!
The grid works so simply, each elemental attack you use changes an icon on the grid to that element, then when 3 or 4 of the same element is in the grid, the primary element (the big one in the center) will change to that element. The unison attack is also dependent on the grid and it determines which monster attacks with you and how well they participate. Like lets say your imp decides to join in, you need at least one dark icon in the elemental grid, or have the primary icon in the field dark elemental. The more dark icons on the grid, the better attack the monster will do in the unison attack.
For one icon, the imp will do Bloody Howling.
For two the imp will do Negative Gate.
For three, the imp will do obliteration.
If other icons are involved, then monsters of the corresponding element will also join in.

Yea, its a good game uptil now, I'm a good 10 hours in.

So, I bought Dawn of the New World yesterday. Aside from poor lighting in the dungeons, some sappy (but cute) dialouge, and Emil, I am loving this game. I may be having more fun with it than I had with the first one. The bosses are a little too easy for my taste, as my amount of Life Bottles has never fallen below 18 at any given point. Other than those minor greivances, I am loving this game. Oh, yes, and this has been killing me since yesterday. I can swear that Emil's voice actor when he's possessed is the same as who voiced Light in Death Note. If not, I know I've heard that voice before. This also happened with the first game, where it took me a while to figure out Lloyd was actually Robin.

I'll have a review when I beat it.

I played for a good 6 hours yesterday and im at 24 hours of gameplay now. I understand the elemental grid now, but thnx neways knux. What I don't understand is the monster's synch abilities. For example, my Fenrir occasionally uses "Halo of Life", but I have no idea what it does...
