Because Trivium are big fat rips of Metallica, and they'll never be as good as them.

Hi. :D

I personally think it's a nice catchy ballad. Can't compare with Fade to Black though.

OK, but I prefer Nothing Else Matters out of the two. Fade to Black is a great song, however.

At 11/29/06 03:22 AM, SpeedMetalSandwich wrote: anyway, i just listened to Through The Never...and then listened to the Trivium song Unrepentant....and i swear the riff in Unrepentant is somewhat the same as Through The Never....

Last night, I noticed a part of Ride the Lightning sounds like Trivium's A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation.

btw i KNOW i have posted it so many times in the Trivium thread...but meh.

And when I found out that was true, I was sad.

See, that's what made Metallica different. They moved out of that and brought brutality into the scene. Sure, Slayer and stuff had been doing that for a little while, but Metallica went big. Everyone knew about them. But, that eventually was a bad thing, as when everyone liked them, they realised anything with Metallica on it is gunna sell. So, they got lazy, and they got old. And they started making crapper music. Now they have recruited Robert Trujillo, one of my favourite bassists from when he was in Suicidal Tendencies, but to me, he's not going to have an impact on song writing, the thing that really counts. So, I don't think Metallica are ever going to go back to their roots.

Jason Newsted sucks. I mean, Flotsam and Jetsam??? But Rob is a great player, just not as good as Burton.

It's two CD's, so it's expensive. I think it's just worth it for the MoP interlude..... So beautiful.......

I've seen it twice, it's a good insight on what they're like recording.

The term for it is "turning off the snare". The snare drum has these chains under it that make its significant sound. Lars turned a knob, making these chains loose, so they do not touch the drum, therefore losing the sound. It sounds like beating on a trash can. I don't know why he likes the sound.

Most of those songs are based off one riff. That's one reason why I hate it so much.

They were talking about this in the documentary "Kill 'em all to St. Anger". People starting calling St. Anger the worst production in history, and labeled Ulrich's drumming trash can drums.

I'm listening to Call of Ktulu. It's one riff for over 3 minutes. Same with Orion. Somehow it manages to keep the listener engaged.

It's more than average. They played that song at Cliff's funeral, and didn't play it live until last March or so, because it was so sacred to them.
