yes
Whoever prefers Megadeth over Metallica (within certain suitable parameters), this place is for you!
depends on what mood I am in
I for one love Megadeth, and got into them as I was exploring Metal, and I watched the VH1 Behind the music of Metallica. I saw their back story and found out about Megadeth.
got into them through listening to Peace Sells on rhapsody
The reason I like Megadeth? I like how the use their instruments. The guitarwork is highly melodic.

My favourite Megadeth album is Rust In Peace. I love all the songs, if not for the music, then the lyrical themes.

What the hell is this comparison to Metallica. I know Mustaine was in Metallica for a while, but it sure as hell doesn't mean you have to boast that you like the better (in your opinion) of the bands.
Also, what happens to those who love Megadeth but prefer Metallica? Can't they join?
People probably already asked this, but I don't have the time right now to read through six pages.
Anyways, I love Megadeth. Favorite album would have to be Cryptic Writings. Too many favorite songs to pick. The only albums I like are: Rust in Peace (only four songs), Countdown, Youthanasia, Cryptic, Risk and I know Jack and Back in the Day from The System. Other than that I find their stuff rather bland. I guess that without Marty Mustaine can't compose much good stuff.
Has anyone listened to the MD 45 record Mustaine made? The Creed from that album is just pure awesome.

Lol no you don't.
Still, welcome.

There's always been a famous rivalry between the bands. Dave once said something about wanting to make a better band than Metallica, after he got kicked out, and most fans follow up that quote.
Also, what happens to those who love Megadeth but prefer Metallica? Can't they join?
Sure, join if you want. It's only a bit of humourous rivalry.
You may experience some in-joke sort of treatment, but don't take it to heart!

Yeah, but I think that both are great bands, I enjoy listening to both bands and I don't need to debate which of the two is better.

I've just recently gotten into Megadeth, cos my sisters boyfriend bones them to the macks and I decided to see what his fussing was about.
Favourite track at the mo' is of mice and men. - It's kind of overwhelming how much music they have, and most of it is fucking ace!
Don't know if I prefer em to Metallica tho.

'Tis true.

I do, and I fucking run the Metallica crew. =P
Though I prefer Master of Puppets to everything evarz. My favourite album of all time.
I personally think that the whole rivalry thing is stupid, both Metallica and Megadeth are awesome bands

But Megadeth were still awesome when they so-
Changed their style, until Risk of course.
Metallica were horrible and still are because of the way the chose to go with their music. Megadeth is also a bit more complicated than Metallica, and have better musicians. Of course, Davey boy Jr. was alot worse than Burton. But he's better than Newsted that's for sure.

i think its stupid as well, there isnt no need for any of it. Metallica and Megadeth both have there styles and whatever else that makes em different to each other, and thats what makes em awesome.

As quoted from a Dave Mustaine interview asking how Megadeth was formed:
"I didn't want anyone thinking we were a spin off, 'Oooh, that guys just beltin' out more Metallica stuff'. I felt really held back and that band. I tried to quit a number of times before they kicked me out, so I guess they kinda beat me to the punch [Laughs]. I just thought I had more talent, so uh, here we are."

he has a point there, Megadeth are a bit more technical then Metallica.

Due to Mustaines amazing riff writing talent, which is why Metallica only had great songs on the first 2 albums, with Master of Puppets having to take Burton to the front to actually write melodic/technical songs, as it was the first album not to have any Mustaine songs to use (Unless you believe Mustaine's objection to having written Leper Messiah. I personally believe he might of thought up something similar and just jammed on it alot in front of everybody). Justice worked because of their emotional rage, which influenced them to achieve a technical album, but after that they had no major inspiration to better themselves.

Lol, I had Metallica in on Pandora and it was a song from ReLoad, so I pressed 'next' and 'Addicted to Chaos' from Youthanasia came on. I don't have all the Youth songs, and I was like, "Where's the heavy? This is rock at best...."
I really, really, prefer pre-Youthanasia.

Youthanasia is very good, but a song or two I find boring. And then Megadeth went to a bad direction with Cryptic Writings (HI SHITONASTICK!) and Risk.
I really, really, prefer pre-Youthanasia.
Me too, but I heard The System Has Failed is great, so I gotta get that album.

But in my eyes, Megadeth are the better band, for me. Can't argue with opinion.
I mean, theres a few Metallica songs that I enjoy, but thete are others which I can really hate.
