With all due respect, Wade; I think you should stick to the current way used to pick Mods.

You'll either get a bunch users praising themselves to the point where you'd want to vomit, or users trying to use a bit of reverse psychology and saying how they really don't want to be Mods...... meanwhile, they'd cut off a finger and mail it to you to get Mod status.

You know who the Regulars are. You know who visits the site on a daily basis. If more Mods are needed, pick some names and ask the current Mods what they think of adding "So-and-so" to the Mod team.

Forum mod.

I've been coming to the forums for two years, the site for about six years, and have seen far too many nim-rods that have gone un-punished for excessive spamming.

I've had mod experience in the passed, and enjoy lending a helping hand, not being a power hungry lunatic.

I really think I could make these forums a better place.

I'll be on the site normally 2-3 hours at a time on weekdays, 4:00 - 7:00, pacific time.

I'm not really a celebrity on the site so you probably wont see any nominations for me, but I feel that doesn't determine what it takes to be a good mod.

I have what it takes, and I've learned from my mistakes in the passed.

If you want a mature, friendly, and helpful user, that's me.

While I may be a bit harsh with forum-goers here sometimes, I'm really a very nice guy who loves to see things go smoothly. I've moderated 3 different, well-trafficked forums before, and I've been known as a fair, non-biased moderator, and open to different opinions.

Forum mod

I have been a member of newgrounds.com for approximately four years now; however, that does not warrent me consideration to become a moderator. Although, throughout my time here on newgrounds, I have seen or been a part of every major event on the forums. I do not post very often, but that does not mean I am not observing what is taking place. I witness almost everything that goes on within the community, but i tend to keep my responses to a minimum.

I would be the type of moderator who acts not as a communicationalist, but rather a "semi-forum bot", where most of my posts would be professional comments regarding forum rules and regulations.

I litterally spend almost all day next to a computer, and newgrounds.com is always open, not to mention it is set as my home page. Therefore, I am available to moderate almost all day long; however, I do sleep at night. Night-time being EST, same as newgrounds. I had always considered myself a posible canidate for a forum moderator, but my low post count keeps me hidden from the greater public eye.

I would like to be a forum moderator. I've been a steady poster for three years now. My internet time is limited but I still spend a fair amount of time on the forums. This browsing is mostly done in between classes, and in the evening (EST).

After three years on the site, I'm fairly even-tempered. Even if / when I get P.O.'d at a poster, however, I would not abuse the mod privileges (as many can attest to since I've admin / modded a variety of other forums over the years). As you probably know, I regularly visit the politics forum. I also visit the new art forum daily. I could always expand my browsing also (I used to be a bit more active in General, C&C, and Wi/Ht for instance).

I can write properly. I do really wish that I could help out on the forums. It's a PITA to contact a mod via AIM or e-mail whenever I see something worthy of being deleted.

I'd be a Forum mod, i'll write my reasons below:

Why?
Well, the forum i am in atleast 95% of the time is Programming and i have noticed that it receives quite a bit of spam, but hardly any moderators hang out in there.
Every time i see an actionscript question in the programming forum, i wish i had the power to just delete it, trust me, we get hundreds of AS questions...

When am i on?
On a non-school day i will probably be on newgrounds for atleast 5 hours in the forums, most of the time in Programming; On a school day, i might be on for a few minute in the morning, and for atleast 3 hours in the evening. I also live in England in a GMT timezone, and will be on at the time when the BBS is most busy, around 19:00 GMT.

I don't expect to ever become a mod on these forums, but i sure will accept being one. :)

I would like to be a review mod, cause :
1) I have much spare time
2)There a lot of abusive users

2nd I would like to be a forum mod. But I think it's too much responsavility and you need to be cautious.

3rd Icon mod. Cause it's an easy work

4rd but not least important audio mod. To clean the audio contamination!. Easy work!

I'd love to be a mod. But in all honesty, I'd probably be your worst choice, because I'd ban on a whim and abuse my power. I've wanted to be a mod since the day I discovered the BBS, but I know it won't ever happen. I'm not going to sit here and write a 6500 character self-nomination, because I'm much happier doing my own thing on the BBS instead of having to babysit everyone else.

If you are looking for recommendations, though, I nominate Dry-Ice and HotActionYiffFur.

I'd like to be a music mod, and a forum mod. Music because I like it, and I have a good taste. Forum mod because... well... Power?

I'm available 4 PM GMT +1 to 10 PM GMT +1, on normal days, and available most of the time on weekends. This week I'll be available at the same times as the weekends.

I would love to be any kind of mod, not for the power, but for helping out NG. I totally back your cleaning up the site inititaves and would love to help out in anyway I can. I've been on this site since about 2000, but wasn't as active as I am with this account. I think I have a fairly good understanding of the workings of Newgrounds and what is expected.

My first choice would be forum mod, I spend the majority of my time on NG browsing the forums. I think I have a pretty good idea of what is a joke and what is just annoying and needs to be locked and deleted. The only thing about me wanting to be a forum mod, is that I can honestly say that I can name people that probably deserve it more than me, but still, I can hope, right? :P

My second choice would be a review mod. I'm starting to flag abusive reviews now, because they really do bug me and make the site look like shit. I would love to be able to remove them and blast them into internet hell. I agree with the whole classing up Newgrounds idea and abusive reviews really detract from that.

My third choice would be Icon mod. I didn't even know these kinds of mods exsisted, but I can see why they are important. Annoying icons can be, well, really annoying. I'd gladly spend some time watching incoming ones.

My last choice would be audio mod. I do love music, but I don't feel that I've spent enough time in the audio portal to be a fair enough judge.

I'm usually mostly active evenings weekdays, and afternoon/eveneings on weekends. The last week or so I havn't been on as many hours as usual, due to real life constraints, but I think that I can get back to my regular NG schedual.

A topic where you ask to be a mod?

I'd kind of like to see a topic where you can suggest a mod, rather than ask to be one.

That way you don't get all the new people going "MoD! ME! nOW! lolz."

If I'm going to be a mod one day, I'd rather it be someone choosing me because I'm a helpful emeber and my post are constructive, not by asking for it.

I'd be good for a forum mod because I can recognize alts and spam like any normal person can, I have control of the forces of grammar, but most of all, I am logged on a lot. A whole lot. You could count the hours I spend wasting my life on here.

Why?

1. I would like to be a review mod to stop all those people who leave shitty or otherwise pointless reviews. An example is from a user named crapshitm**** (bleeped to protect abusive users name). He always gives shitty reviews that never help. "omg lern to animate!!!! stop bing a clock crew wannab!!" is an example of what he makes. I would try to stop users like that.

2. I've seen countless times where people get credit for stealing music and posting it as there own, or stealing music and posting it without knowing it. I was scrolling through several FF audios, when I saw a person who stole an FF 8 battle theme from black mages. If I was an audio mod, I would ban that person right there. I would also warn people who think that the portal is for your favorite music, and post copyrighted/famous music unknowingly, like some Linkin Park submissions.

3. One reason is that I could stop spammers, and lock topics that are bad (I guess that's one way to put it...). I have also seen some ridiculous bans. If I see them again if I become a mod, I might unban those people.

I often read posts, and I despise people who abuse power so I wouldn't ban people pointlessly.

I also like to help people on the BBS, if they mistakes (ie post in wrong forum) I direct them to the right place.

In all honesty, i could care less about being an icon or audio mod, but being a review mod or a flash forum mod could be neat.

On the other hand, the green color overrides the blue, and I rather like the blue color so unless they change that i'd rather not be a mod.

I would like to be a forum mod, because normally I see users posting stuff that is against the rules and they get away with it, like werewolf-bite, he trolls by making a topic and it makes it to two pages without a moderator taking action. I would be a strict mod.

The mod position I'm applying for is Icon Mod. I would like this position because it's low key and you're helping out newgrounds quietly, without having to talk to other users. I am have been around newgrounds for a while, and I'm a 2004 signup. The one thing I like to do when I submit movies is to create icons and I think it's fun. I've created a tutorial (off-site) about making icons and I know the works. I have some experience with power in other forums and sites, but I like to stay low, and unnoticed. I come to Newgrouns every day and lurk around on the Flash forum a lot and watch movies. I generally watch the under judgement movies and front page. I have been trying to deposit a lot lately to get to the next level, but I haven't bothered with it in the past. Please consider me as I would love to help out with Newgrounds. I will admit that I have been in a Kitty Krew movie but please do not let that sway your judgement as icon making is different. Icons are art and should not be forgotten about.

I'm already a Review, Audio, and Icon moderator. I feel that throughout my NG "career", I have been respected by the community and trusted with many priveledges and abilities. If you are looking for additional help regulating the BBS, and are having some troubles locating additional users for this, I'm willing and able to lend you guys a hand =)

I am solidly active on NG throughout the week. I already spend chunks of time each day helping out with the audio and review lists.

I am currently working a college schedule that allows me to visit NG at almost any part of the day. I also don't have classes on a couple days of the week. If you want detailed information on my schedule, feel free to send me an AIM.

Why do I feel I would be a good BBS mod?

-I don't post as frequently as many users, but float around in the BBS for much of the day.

-I have experience of account administration outside of NG.

-A large percentage of my posts could be considered helpful and informative. I would never be ashamed of my post history.

-I am already trusted with the review, audio, and icon moderator positions.

-I am already active on NG through these positions.

-My times of availibility allow me to visit NG with little restriction.

-I feel that banning a user is not an opportunity to insult or belittle them, but simply to inform them of what rule they broke. A fair ban time usually doesn't leave the user feeling abused.

-I am well acquainted with other NG moderators of all kinds and am confident that they would support me.

-I am well acquainted with the administrators of NG, have on many occasions had friendly conversations with them, and am also confident that they would support me in holding such a position.
