OH GOD YES! That movie fucking rocks! Not to mention the second season of 'Stand Alone Complex' comes out on DVD the end of September. X)

Indeed the series is awesome. I still have to buy the entire series for I haven't seen all the episodes, only most. Not to mention I would like to purchase the Innocence movie as well.

About Gundam and the series, I could write out a ten page essay on why I love the series. Let's just say that giant robots are awesome and the thought of opperation one of those bad ass machines or an MS for that matter would be pretty fucking nice. I'd have to choose the command style of Mobile Fighter G Gundam over all of them. Just the thought of interacting within your MS like that, to say pioleting it like that would be most awesome. I'd have to choose Master Gundam though, it's just that cool.

It's over 5 days old, so only Wade or Tom can lock it, and they don't seem to care it's here

Not true, the club has been locked once by a mod (his name boils my blood but I will not disclose it) and Wade unlocked it and chastised the mod in question.

I sure can (these are movies in no particular order)

My neighbour totoro
Laputa castle in the sky
Princess mononoke
Porco rosso
Kiki's delivery service
Castle of Cagliostro
Nausicaa of the valley of the wind
Spirited away

These are all by the famous director Hayao Miyazaki, my philosophy is that if you don't know who he is, you arn't a proper anime fan, he is just as famous as Walt Disney

Has anybody else seen all or many of his movies (The ones I have listed are most of his movies, everything bar Howls Moving Castle, which I haven't managed to see yet)

the anime network is striving to bring anime to fans all around the united states, you might recognize it from your on demand feature well guess what if we can get enough people to bug their cable providers via our website we can get anime 24/7 for every one, if you want the anime network to be available in your area go to www.theanimenetwork.com and let your voice be heard by clicking on the demand it icon and filling out the informational form.

I'm only willing to support them if they would keep to the originals.

The fact that they are airing "Robotech" is enough to make me sick. It's MACROSS, not "Robotech" (Which is a bastardisation of "Macross" and "Mospeda" with a chopped down story to make it all the more @#$%ed up), damn it.

Is it? So he does direct under different companies...

It depends. Lots of what you call "Comedy Anime" is usually aimed at a younger audience and/or possibly even a limited audience (i.e. Japanese Children).

Like in Akazukin ChaCha, for example. It's a very comedic cartoon filled with plenty of oddities at every corner, but it's a kid's show, or some say. I watched it to revive some memories, and would do so every now and then since it's good.

Not me, of course, some can be pretty dumb, some have stupid jokes i think only japanese people understand, but some also are randomly organized, making them fucked up, but funny, like FLCL or Paranoia Agent.

No, I think a little comedy in every ones lives is a bit healthy. I still watch Lupin the 3rd even though I've seen every episode Adult swim is willing to air. I'm still pissed that they wont show the "to be or nazi be" episode they keep advertising. My problem is when they take a serious thing and try to way it down with comedy. Take Trigun for example. I still like the series, but it would be a lot better if they toned down the random outbursts by just a smudge.

Comedy Amine-Some are good while others are bad. I dislike grouping them together.

Response to Anime Club 2005-08-09 17:49:14

There is no pure "Comedy" Anime. FLCL may have had comedy in it, but it was a mash up of Comedy, Sci-Fi, Action, Music, and other things. Magical Arcade had comedy in it, but it was a mixture of, Sci-Fi, Action, Adventure, Romance, Magic, etc. I could go on and on but it wouldnt matter. There are no pure Comedy anime. End of story.

PS- And don't dare say Love Hina cause that's just straight Romance with comedy thrown in for good measure.

At 8/9/05 05:49 PM, Renewman wrote: There is no pure "Comedy" Anime.

There's not really a pure anything anime. Not a pure sci-fi, not a pure action, not a pure anything. Any anime (that I'vfe seen, that is) that even comes close to being pure ANYTHING has a bit of something else mixed in. For example, Vandread seems to jump between Romance, Drama, Action, and Comedy with a tiny dash of horror tossed in for good measure. Calling an anime pure naything is wrong because, if you call it pure action, someone'll point at the ONLY comedic moment in the whole thing, and disprove you. If you say it's pure horror, someone'll point at a drama moment (since horror and drama like to run around together) and disprove that. The list goes on and on. If you REALLY want to label an anime as "pure" anything, redefine pure first. As, oh, just 90%. So you could actually find an anime that's 90% action, comedy, et cetera, and then call it "pure" whatever it is.

all of you hate anime network that bad?

I don't hate AS or AN persay, I just hate the n00bs who think //Hack.Sign, Inuyasha and FMA are the greatest anime ever because that's the only anime they watch. Expand your horizons and watch less mainstream anime. Slayers? Not mainstream. FMA? Mainstream. Legend of The Overfiend? Not Mainstream. Inuyasha? Mainstream. Catch my point?

When an Anime airs in America, a year or 2 later it airs here in Canada. .Hack//Sign was released in America in 2003! Then in Canada it was released 2005.

I find that odd because US versions of anime like Inuyasha are worked on in Canada. In the credits, it says they use Wordfit which is apparently a company in British Columbia.

Heh. Look on the bright side, at least most of them was not sa disasterous as "G-Savior", the Live Gundam Movie which was so horrible that they stopped production of VHS tapes and DVDs within less than a year of its release.

I'm really speeding through Naruto. ;)

****spoiler, episode ?-125***

This whole chase after Sasuke is long and intense. I didn't care much for Chouji, but when Neji died I nearly cried. I'm just happy that they defeated their enemies, and reached a personal salvation before they met their maker.

I'm glad things lightened up, though. Rock Lee in his drunken rage was fucking hilarious. In addition to this comic relief, I was hoping Gaara would return, as a better person most importantly. Alot of ninjas seem to be touched by Naruto. He is so truthful and determined, it could inspire just about anyone.

In America yes they sell some movies and seires. But thats pritty much it unless you know were to go. But mainly you have to buy them off the internet. And im gessing Hentai is a litttle more accepted in Asia then here in America.

Well guys, I turned 21 yesterday...and none of you came to my party! *Sob*

Seriously though, I did turn 21 on the 9th. My birthday sucked worse than anything, I didn't get to celebrate for various reasons including work, and no-one but my Little Brother re-fucking-membered!

All in all, things are not well, and I maybe lose my net soon; as I will be forced to move by my ever worsening situation. So if you don't hear from me for a while, you know why.

I have updated my sig, it's still a work in progress. In the end, it will have a spinning sharingan and be clearer. I figure if I'm gonna be Kakashi, might as well enjoy it ^_^
