Inuyasha is an obnoxious and irritating show. And every episode is a dose of awful deja vu, regurgitating its terrible gags over and over, on the level of Soul Eater. Unlike Inuyasha, though, Soul Eater can partially redeem itself with some good action and pretty nicely done visuals (plus, Dr. Stein is cool). Inuyasha's action scenes are crap. I can't stand the goddamn characters in the show. Sometimes, you can get away with a shallow, uninteresting plot, but that requires having something else to offer, which Inuyasha doesn't, beyond a few decent looking demon designs. It's fucking Twilight with furries.

Also, I may have asked this question before, but am I the only person who believes that Akihiko Kayaba from SAO was worse than the Sugou dude who tortured Asuna? Granted, Sugou was an asshole through and through who deserved what he got, but Kayaba intentionally trapped 10,000 people in SAO, where roughly 3,800 people died in that game, and essentially trolled Kirito as a character in game, (Heathcliff) and he wasn't viewed as a complete monster? I'm honestly confused in that respect.

I have been wondering, if Victory Gundam did get distributed to the U.S. (I know, slim chance being that Tomino hates it), do you think it will be aired on Toonami or get stuffed on Adult Swim?

I would have loved to see Gundam ZZ Top making its way to here even though the misadventures involving inept Team Rocket-like villains and the encounter with the Aztec Space Ninjas would likely cause the rating to justify its cancellation since the ADD riddened audience wouldn't sit past the first half of the series.

Hell, there are idiots who thinks Gundam Wing is the first series, not the first series in U.S., they think it's the first Gundam series ever!

Just got done watching the first season of Code Geass and thought it was pretty decent, but it felt more like it was laying the ground work for something much more epic, which is what I'm hoping season two is going to offer when I get around to watching that. Season one started to get really good just as it was coming to an end and boy, that sure was a cliffhanger to end a season on. I want to keep watching and find out what's going to happen next but I don't want to ware myself out.

Before I start on season two of Code Geass I think I'll watch Welcome to the NHK. I watched the first episode a little while back to see if it seemed like something I'd enjoy and the first episode was enough to make me want to see more.

I've been starting to enjoy watching anime again recently. Not that I've ever really been all that into it, but I'll occasionally watch a series/movie. Ordered Darker Than Black off of eBay the other day too, so I'll have that to watch at some point.

As much as I loved CG, the second second has been a huge hotbed of controversy for many reasons, though I'll try to avoid any major spoilers for you. One of the biggest criticisms that they make is that the first couple of episodes is almost like a recap of first couple of episodes of the first season, as a way of catching up new viewers in Japan considering that the first season was aired late at night. To be fair, Code Geass was a sleeper hit then and there were a lot of executive meddling with that show there and especially in America, where it ironically enough got a huge popularity boost despite this. They also get into more into the aspect of Geass and the main motivations of the Emperor and his cult. (took a lot of inspiration from SEELE from Evangelion, minus much of the depravity)

Then, you get into the new characters, face-heel turns, heel-face turns, and so on and so forth, you have to see it to believe it, and that's all I'm going to say about that.

I'm glad there's people who are dedicated to translating the Watamote manga. Every new chapter is a pleasure to read. I'm slowly working my way through Nichijou (My Everyday Life) on off-days, too. It's just as absurd as I expected.

Remember few pages ago when I joked about how Uso was basically a proto-Shinji? The funny thing is that after looking up a bit more on Victory Gundam, the dude who blew himself up in front of Uso was voiced by the same guy who would be casted as Gendo few years later.

I think Welcome to the NHK is on track to be my favourite anime series so far. A little over half-way through now and so far been really enjoying it. Seems that I'm enjoying these "everyday life" anime series more than the action orientated stuff I've been watching, which is strange for me.

Any recommendations of similar stuff? Like I said, been enjoying NHK and not too long ago I got done watching Ouran Highschool Host Club which I also thought was pretty good.

a) Make a serious recommendation that is suitable for his children's age (they're ten or younger)

b) Troll them by recommending an anime series that has a misleading cover and opening theme (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Space Runaway Ideon, Victory Gundam, Narutaru, etc.)

I'd go with the latter for the fun of it.

It's hard to believe that "K-On" is seinen while you have series like "Attack on Titans" and "Hokuto no Ken" being classified as shonen, latter of which was in Shonen Jump. I mean shows that are geared toward kids in Japan are essentially the ones where you get to see a Bruce Lee expy blowing people up or a group of rouge military groups formed by the Earth Federation eating people for kicks (I know, I know, stupid joke).

Makes you wonder about the standards on how they rate things.

I don't really read manga, but for interesting horror anime, Boogiepop Phantom and Hundred Stories (A.K.A Requiem from the Darkness) are good short series.

Just got done with Welcome to the NHK. Definitely my favourite of the anime series I've seen so far and likely something that I'll go back and watch again some point. I like it for similar reasons to why I liked Ouran Highschool Host Club. It's just a nice feel good comedy, only I think NHK actually got me thinking about stuff more than Ouran did, which is always a sign that I liked something.

I've always been curious to see how well horror works in literature, not just manga. I just can't imagine reading something being as scary as watching it. Might have a look into this at some point, but I'm not much of a reader.

Its like you want certain characters to do certain thing. Also there not much conventional fighting but fighting in ways you don't normally expect.

Since manga was brought up you got me interested in checking some of it out again but I never know where to start. The only manga I've read is Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. I have all the currently released volumes but have fallen behind with it.

Was scouring eBay to see if there was any other manga going cheap so that I could try some new stuff. Found an auction that was selling off 10 first volumes of different manga series. Thought it was going to end really cheap but shot up a bit at the last second. Still managed to win and only cost me £2 a volume so can't really complain. I'm not familiar with any of the series so it was a gamble but given the low price it seemed worth a shot and a good way to check out some new stuff.

My guess is that the tolerance for adult themes in Japan is a lot higher than it is here in the States when it comes to the 10-18 demographic, and Shonen as a whole are mostly the most demographically appealing genre to both teens and adults there. Though to be fair, it really isn't that much different than animation here (at least in recent years) the only real difference is that Shonen anime/manga isn't as reliant on pop-culture or generally immature jokes as it is with Western cartoons (JJBA being an exception.)

Also, it seems like the line between Shonen and Seinen are getting more and more blurry by the day, probably because the creators realize that younger fans of their works are growing up, and still enjoy what they're making, among others. Either that, or they are good at getting crap past the radar.

Maybe it's just me but do you guys find the use of that theme in the trailer somewhat unfitting?

I think it suits it pretty good imo. It ties in with the end of the movie in how Seabook finally rescued Cecily and the trauma is all over.

Also: Seabook? Such an odd name for a character, little alone a MC. I wonder what Tomino was thinking on that one.

I think the zombie episode was the last one I saw. I've been meaning to catch up on it but life and laziness.

Been catching up on all of what has happened in Naruto Shippuden like a mad man. Looking back on the series from when I first fell out of it I should've stayed with it. I've not watched many episodes just the latest 30 or so. Mostly story information and fights through out the series.
