You know, I was banned for making that comment before. If it doesn't happen to you, that just ain't fair.

Also, if I were still a virgin at this age, I would have saved up money, gotten on a flight to Nevada, and gotten a hooker. And my only mental problem is OCD.

Gundam series are normally slow to start off, I think it's rather unfair to base the series' qualities based on only a handful of episodes each.

I'm just saying, not every anime that's over 50+ episodes is Naruto, Inuyasha or whatever else.

No offense, but frankly, that's a pretty baseless assumption. Off the top of my head I can list a couple dozen more after the exceptions you posted in your other post.

Touch
Cross Game
Revolutionary Girl Utena
One Piece
Slam Dunk
Legend of Galactic Heroes
Maison Ikkoku
Mobile Suit Gundam
Daddy Long Legs
Nobody's Boy: Remi
3000 Leagues in Search of Mother
Les Miserables
Marmalade Boy
Fushigi Yugi
Nadia: Secret of Blue Water
Monster
Master Keaton
Hajime no Ippo
FMA/FMA Brotherhood
Gokinjo Monogatari
Rose of Versailles

That's just off the top of my head. I used to think that 26 episode series was generally the perfect balance, with anything longer either being shounen or Mecha.

Now I think it's the total opposite. If anything, longer anime's are generally better if you ask me.

I could not imagine, NOT AT ALL, Legend of the Galactic Heroes being a 26 episode series. It's long with having over 100, but oh man is it worth it. Some of the shorter series are pretty good as well. The one that comes to mind as of now is Madoka.

I getcha. I liked what I saw of Wing and G Gundam when they were on Toonami back in the day, though.

Kanon 2006 came to mind when you said winter, only because there's a fuckton of snow in that anime.

^this. though you can find stuff through Nyaa and Toshokan as well. FFShrine has a good chunk if you're not interested in scans and don't mind the larger file size of FLAC/360kbps.

Like any English dub that's been released in the last 5-7 years.

Seriously, this grotesque overreaction to dubs is not only outdated, but it's just plain stupid.

Watch Xam'd I guess.

Well, all English dubs are terrible. The English voice actors certainly feel out of place, and they don't sound super kawaii. I can't imagine watching a SoL with English voice actors.

Darker than Black.

Isn't THAT bad in English.

I also heard Angel Beats! has a decent english dub, but TK would definitely not have any charm in an English dub, and TK is fucking awesome.

Blah569 has introduced me to some super moe animu.

As a general rule of thumb, the more western-themed anime have pretty reasonable dubs.

Also Abenobashi Mahou Shotuengai, the main characters are from Osaka, which apparently equates to the deep south so they all have thick drawls. It's pretty funny.

I fucking hate you people and everything you stand for.

Honestly, not to go on this fucking rant again but I haven't done it on this forum yet. What Mendou said is pretty accurate, the English adaptations nowadays are rather good, if not better than the language of origin. Whoever gave you the misinformation about dubs needs a kick in their dick because this who Sub vs Dub thing is fucking stupid. I can understand in the 80's where it was cheesy and heavily edited but that was the start of something and without those dubs we wouldn't have the anime we do today because of it. The 1990'd had it's fair share of cheese too, but there were moments of brilliance and some really good dubs. Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star being the best examples and credit to Gundam and Dragon Ball Z for having good voices despite heavy editing for the latter series.

And BananaBreadMuffin is using a line I've said time and time again, the more western or non-Japanese the anime is the likelihood of the dub being good if not better is usually pretty high. Spice and Wolf and Black Lagoon both very different shows yet in the former it's a fantasy setting and in the latter they're all supposed to be speaking English anyway.

However, even the more Japanese shows and slice of life stuff that is very Japanese can be good in English. take a look at any of Satoshi Kon's anime, and you will see a Japanese setting and in English it still sounds good.

The good stuff far outweighs the shitty stuff and even in Japanese a show can still suck balls (Queen's Blade, Elfen Lied). Since we live in the 21st Century where anime DVDs have two options for languages I don't understand why people need to bitch about the English adaption of anime. Go watch in the language you prefer and stop being a douchebag. Just because 4Kids made a terrible adaptation of One Piece doesn't make every anime adaptation terrible (and as an aside, 4Kids doesn't count, never has and Funimation did an amazing job redubbing it and making it what it was a mature shonen anime).

So, please for the love of god, and this goes for everyone and every anime fan ever. Stop it. Move on. It's fucking anime, who cares, English dubbing exists for a reason and it's good 90% of the time. If you're skeptical there's no harm doing what I do when testing out a new anime. Watch one episode of the show in English and the next in Japanese. Decided for yourself which one you prefer. You will find shows that you can only watch in English and others you can only watch in Japanese, but if you don't have an open-mind you are the type of douchebag sub-only elitest dickbag that needs to be purged from the internet.

No internet for the past week :(

-Read the Linebarrels of Iron manga (what's translated of it), and it's amazing.

Both are definitely worth a look.

What sucks is that I've met the opposite of this as well, my friends only ever like to watch anime if it's in English, I have to coerce them to watch something that is only in Japanese because the companies that license Anime in the US don't damn well bring it over. Oh well.

Honestly I prefer Dubs even if they are subpar simply because it's easier to follow and I can look away for a moment and still follow along.

I feel like when you have to 'force' your complete attention to it it's a little less leisurely an experience, at least, that's how I appreciate it.

Some shit's just harder to get over than others. And if it's not over here yet it probably will be in time. But, the Japanese are the ones that make anime so it's natural that they get the shit first.
