In times of nationwide turmoil you need dozens of shows about cutesy schoolgirls to lift the nation's spirits.

Finished up Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa, absolutely loved it. Fukumoto delivers once again, and honestly, I think I like it more then Kaiji.

Terribly sorry, what exactly should my priorities be then? You know, considering this is the anime club? Should I perhaps be commenting on the state of the nuclear plants? Or perhaps how terrible the rising death toll is? Or maybe this guy? Any of those?

Pretty much.

And really, they should have been delayed a while longer. Would have given you the chance to watch something that doesn't involve beach episodes, or highschool girls being WACKY

Level E has neither a beach episode nor wacky highschool girls. You take that back.

Finished Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I didn't get it at all but I blame the anime itself for being so ridiculous.

And I'm not sure I'd count the girls in Puella Magi Madoka Magica as wacky either. Not in the normal sense by any means.

Watch Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Rei then.

I don't know if I can sit through two more of them. I was going to start watching Durarara!!

You do notice that this is the anime club right?, We're not going to comment on the nuclear plants, or the tsunami damage here, save that for the other threads in Politics or General. I don't want to sound like an ass, but we shouldn't be getting off topic on this thread.

In a slight ironic twist, I have recently begin watching Tokyo Magintude 8.0. Even though I have only seen the first 2 episodes, it does really tug at your heart strings about how a family is dealing with the destruction of Tokyo, among many other things.

Yes, but there are better things to be concerned about then these animation studios getting back to work so you can view your weekly scifi shonen comedy and BEACH EPISODES.

Okay, so anyway. Anyone in here a Gintama fan? I grabbed the first several episodes, and I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. I've seen a few video clips on the net that I found pretty hilarious. Seems to be parody done right for once.

No need to be such a holier-than-thou cunt, Mendou.

Anyway. I've been watching Avatar: The Last Airbender lately. I know it's not an anime, but...

...I don't know where I was going with this.

Higurashi no naku koro ni has to be one of the shittiest animes out there. It's just a stupid and generic harem anime with some unrealistic violence thrown in.

Also I'm glad that the anime season is back on track? Why shouldn't I be? Just because I think it's good that the anime season continues to air doesn't mean I don't feel for the people in Japan right now. It doesn't mean I don't think the tidal wave was horrible and it doesn't mean that when I saw the news that day my first thought was "oh shit now my harem comedy will be delayed", it just means that I'm happy that something that I like continues to exist.

Jeez, it doesnt have to be so black and white. I was both horrified at what went on and waiting for new anime to air.

I grabbed that a while ago. I have little to no hope for it, regardless of the consistency
that it's some brilliant psychological 'horror' series.

You're absolutely right, I have to apologize to you and SomaGuye for my rude behavior the other day. I went out of line. As sincere fans of Japanese animation and culture, I respect your concern for not only the suffering of thousands and thousands of citizens, but the re-airing of your favorite anime series that you've come to know and love.

And I, too, am thankful that we're getting back to our new episodes of Star Driver, Madoka and Level E.

Exactly how I felt, you do have to feel some sympathy for the Japanese people suffering thourgh the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis, but at the same time, still be eager for what anime is coming out this season.

As long as the soundtrack stays intact or similar I would be happy. I'm already expecting at least a decent butchering of the source material.

Finished the first season of Darker than Black. The main story was great, and the 'mini-arcs' were fantastic. The best action show I've seen in a while, and I hope S2 doesn't suck.

One question: What is the Meteor Shard's purpose? Does it amplify a Contractor/Hei's power, or was it needed for the anti-Gate cannon/beam to work? I doubt it's the latter because Amber had the shard during the finale.

also, Jack/November is a cool guy.

========

Read some of the light novel that BBM posted a page or two back. I haven't read enough to make any other comments other than the translation quality/prose seems alright.

I still have some hope that the Akira movie won't happen. same with Bebop and Paprika. Just like video games, lots of movies are planned, but end up getting scrapped. It happens for several reasons.

I've still not seen the whole show in order, but it's quite a cool show. I might start renting it.

Just watched the first episode of Level E this evening, really liked it. No idea where the show is going from here but it's got a good premise and doesn't take itself too seriously which is nice.

Yeah, it's by the same guy who did YYH and Hunter x Hunter, and Level E is his most comedic I believe. Looks okay.

As Bebop was quite westernised already I think it could be quite a good movie adaptation. Especially if Keanu Reeves is Spike.

I have heard so many people yelling about how Keanu Reeves is wrong for the part, but personally I think that it's perfect casting.

I am not really looking forward to any of those movies, because I know the story and soundtracks are going to get butchered, or at least going to get reworked. Even though Bebop is pretty westernized compared to other anime, I'm still very skeptical that the director is going to stay at least somewhat faithful to the original source material.

Although, I am rather curious on how this will work, from a moviegoer perspective, and if it is decent enough to stand on its own, then I might possibly enjoy it, I guess I'm 50/50 at this point.

Really enjoying Utsuro no Hako. DAT REVEAL surprised me.

The repetition/groundhog day loop reminds me of Cross Channel a lot. The loop in the VN was a week long, and one of the heroines/routes ended up similar to how this played out.

Walpurgis Night (Walpurgisnacht) is a traditional spring festival on 30 April or 1 May in large parts of Central and Northern Europe.[1] Its celebration is associated with dancing and with bonfires.

It was posted on the original website they were holding it off until April. I really hope they won't leave it for April 30th just so it aligns with walpurgis night.
