When I was a kid (and back on the day on Newgrounds), I really did not like anime at all. I was a hater, to be perfectly honest.
Recently, I've had the chance to look through some fantastic films though that have totally changed my mind. I've seen most of Hayao Miyazaki's work ("Princess Mononoke", "Howl's Moving Castle", "Spirited Away", "Castle in the Sky", "Ponyo", and I'm forgetting a bunch of the others I've seen), the beautiful and poignant "Grave of the Fireflies", and the lovely anime version of "Metropolis", which holds fantastic visuals much like the original Fritz Lang movie. And I've come away from all of this very impressed.
I've seen some old series that haven't left me as spellbound, but I have to admit now in my old age, that anime is a beautiful art form that when done the right way, can be captivating. It's fantastic stuff. Anyways, I'm not joining here or anything-- just thought y'all would like to know that.
