So we have 5 in the last 5 years (even though I would say some of those are debatably moe). That's definitely destroying the industry.

what? Why would it be banned?

For similarities to Inception.
Although the latter movie is a blatant ripoff, historical precedent will tell us that if anyone tries to screen or release Paprika outside of Japan now, Warner Bros. will sue to block it on copyright grounds.
I know this because a similar case happened in 1998. We all know that Disney stole the concept for The Lion King from Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Emperor, better known in North America as Kimba the White Lion. (Proof for non-believers.) In 1998, when the Toronto FantAsia Film Festival tried to screen the 1997 Jungle Emperor film, Disney sued and blocked it claiming the film infringed on their copyright.

Yes, essentially.

I have to stop you here at this point, because it sounds like a few moe style anime is cancering the anime industry into oblivion, which obviously isn't the case. Granted, moe anime isn't the best thing for anime in some ways, but that is the way the market is leaning towards, and Otakus in Japan are still going to support it, and chances are a lot of Otakus in the States and Europe will follow suit.

If you despise moe that much, then stick to old school anime, or watch some Seinen. Otherwise, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride.

Sticking to old school stuff is not an answer. I like new stuff. There have been huga advances in animation technology, so modern series are just beautiful. But the popularity of Moe (and again, it's not just exclusively moe series, it's the moe elements stuck in every series) affects the treands of what is and will be made. It's like if all Hollywood movies suddenly picked up some silly gimmick and ruined perfectly good movies trying to shoehorn it in... like, I don't know, 3D.

yeah, Walt disney was horrible at legal stuff and pretty overprotective.

I tried watching Spice and wolf once, I thought it was kind of interesting up until the last few episodes when the story got darker. it just felt kinda wrong for some reason.

currently I'm watching birdy the mighty decode. first subbed show I've watched in a while, I think it's pretty good as far as animation and story go. it's kinda funny sometimes too, but the action is the real pull in.

Apparently Kyoto Animation is the single studio that's bringing down the anime industry?

Walt Disney died in 1966. The Lion King was released in 1994. He couldn't have been directly involved with the litigation; he just set a bad precedent.

Yeah, ok, just watched Mind game. It's absolutely the most insane anime I've ever watched.
I'll give you the basic plot: While meeting an old flame, a guy gets shot in the butt, goes to heaven, comes back, steals a yakuza's car, gets involved in one of the funniest car chases ever, and drives off a bridge into a whale.
At this point the film starts getting weird.
The animation is.... interesting. The art design is like nothing I've ever seen before, and every now and then the art lapses into completely different styles, there's a lot of rotoscoping and there's even one scene that's done in oil painting.
The characters are funny, the plot and development is interesting, the ending scene is monumentally awesome.

There is nothing I have to say apart from watch this, if only for the girl who's wearing a strap-on that's actually a balloon full of baby dolls.

I probably imagine It's about the same, I haven't seen Mind Game, but the way people are describing it, it looks pretty similar to Dead Leaves, which is the type of anime that is best when you're high on weed, just saying.

Mind Game is great. I love that movie.

If one tops the other in insanity, I'd say it's Dead Leaves. The art style isn't quite like Dead Leaves. It's by the same guy who did Kemonozume, which is another excellent anime.

Seriously at least once every minute I was just staring at the screen going "what the fucccccck"

laugh out loud, riotus, hilarious, dirty, violent, perverted, WTF

lmao

it says a lot that it was directed by the same guy as FLCL and Gurren Lagann, it reeks of both.

English dub is the best dub. In japanese, it's rather weird, in English it's the most insanely violent and dirty comedy ever.

I wasn't really a big fan of FLCL. It was entertaining, but I think it's highly overrated. I've never really seen much of Gurren Lagann but it looks like it might be a little more appealing to me.

Anyway, the only anime that I've been watching is High School of the Dead. My opinion of it hasn't really changed. It's a great show, but the constant fanservice feels forced and a bit juvenile. It feels like they're trying way too hard to target the show to teenagers when it would be a lot better without it.

Nah man, it's all good. The girls in Highschool are waaaay to old for him.

But I agree, I hate how belittling fanservice is. It insults my intelligence and makes me feel as though the author thinks he can't hold my attention without a massive pair of tits relaying dialog. (I read the manga)

It is nice to have lots of big tits in a series though

The fanservice is in the manga, and there's a lot more of it. Inazuma was a doujin artist, it's just how he rolls bro.
